I don't really watch the WNBA, only catching some CC highlights here and there, but even with NBA players, there might only be a handful of guys who could complete the kind of passes she is consistently making.
I'm gonna confess I was watching her games in college over the men's games. I'm a man and never thought I'd see the day I'd watch women's basketball over men's. I gotta be honest though it's not even necessarily her ball skills. Shes amazing for a woman but if we are all being honest the level in the women's game is so low compared to men's basketball. Most of them can't even touch the backboard and miss silly layups. The reason I enjoy Clark is the whole drama and hate she gets. I also love the story behind her, small town girl from Iowa plays for her hometown, becomes the best player in the world, competes for a title in Iowa and becomes the greatest women's player of all time when it's all said and done. The NBA doesn't have these storylines anymore. It's become a boring product. That's what's missing in all sports it's become just media advertisements. I think a lot of fans always yearn for that underdog/small town kid movie storylines. It's the reason we get into sports. Sports has become mostly about nepotism and just advertisement in the men's game. They're resting every other game. Meanwhile, Clark has twisted her ankle and comes right back in the next timeout. When she's asked after she says "it's just a minor sprain. Every player gets those." Nba players sometimes miss an entire month after twisting an ankle. They are soft and have ruined the product. The Kobe/mj old school days are over. I think khabib a big reason people loved him so much was his story. Same as Pacquiao. The same is true with Clark. It's an incredible story.
I will be watching CC and the WNBA over football till the season is over. I stopped watching the NBA several years ago, it just has no flair anymore. I think I watched two games last season. Well CC has me enjoying watching basketball again. And because of her I am also watching any game I can catch that has implications on the playoff picture for the Fever.

I keep hoping to see CC's almost full court bounce pass she dished last night in a highlight/review. It was insane. Who does full court bounce passes? Even in the NBA.
CC runs fast breaks like Magic Johnson, passes like John Stockton and shoots like Stephen Curry! She even has the tongue wag of MJ! She is so exciting to watch that every stadium she plays in gets sold out and TV ratings are through the roof. The opposing team fans can’t help but cheer for Caitlin Clark! I’m 61 years old and have never seen anything quite like this. I’ve always been a basketball fan but never watched the WNBA until CC showed up. We are witnessing something special!
@@no12578 34.3% actually. She's now 18.9 5.8 8.4 vs Steph's 17.5 4.5 5.9 rookie season. And first half of the season wasn't as good, meaning her stats are trending up now. Steph's 43.7% 3p was something else, agreed, but stats are meaningless in isolation. Better accuracy with less points? That only means he shoots less. Ok, efficiency is good, right? Well, shooting less with also less assists? Well that means statistically your possession isn't converted into points for the team as often. And it's the job of the point guard to find a way for that to happen. So either teammates were passing to him less, or he wasn't as efficient at converting possessions to points. There was less pressure on Steph to score himself. So he shooted less and could pick the right time to shoot 3s. Caitlin has to face that not all passes are converted even when layups are supposedly easy. She keeps trading places with Mitchell as best scorer of the team. Pressure is on her to score. She has to attempt more 3s. Fevers are doing good now but there's a lot to improve when it comes to forwards scoring. My point being %s are only half of the equation. One isn't a better shooter only because of higher %. You have to combine it with other factors. Take Griner, 18.1pts 57%FG, vs Wilson, 27.5pts 52.6%. It's easy to sacrifice points for %, you just take less risks. But a shooter that doesn't take a shot when she could isn't a better shooter. Then of course, take Boston, 13.7pts 51.8%. That's half the points with less accuracy. That's not on the same level. So someone else has to step in, i.e. guards. They (Clark and Mitchell) are doing very well but still the pressure is on them and of course their %s are not as good as they could be.
Reminds me of a young Wayne Gretzky setting up plays from "his office" - stationed behind the net with both defenders frozen and too slow, by a couple of steps, to try preventing Wayne's assist or wrap-around.
@@no12578I understand you're fan, but are you comparing the high point of an entire career to 2/3 of CC's rookie season? How that does even make sense? I'm looking at rookie seasons only, that's what we're talking here. In 15 years, well we'll talk of CC's career highs vs Curry's. Larry for instance was also a game changer, immediately from his rookie season. While even Jordan had a slow start (at least, by Jordan's standards). Rookie Jordan for sure was Jordan, but wasn't 'the' Jordan of the '90s. I don't question Curry's career. But if you think he singlehandly changed the performance of his team in his rookie season... like Bird and Jordan did and like CC is doing, you're mistaken. Curry didn't win ROY. Curry wasn't even mentioned as MVP. Here's what the debut of a legend looks like: 81. ROY and 4th MVP 82. 2nd MVP 83. 2nd MVP 83. 2nd MVP 84. MVP 85. MVP 86. MVP Here's another legend: 85. ROY and 6th MVP 86. ~broken foot~ 87. 2nd MVP 88. MVP 89. 2nd MVP 90. 3rd MVP 91. MVP 92. MVP CC is headed in the same direction. She's ROY (unless she's robbed) and in the discussion as MVP, probably ending up 2nd or 3rd. Again we're looking at the rookie season because that's what we have so far. Here's Curry's early seasons: 10. lost ROY, 0 votes MVP 11. 0 votes MVP 12. 0 votes MVP 13. 11th MPV 14. 6th MVP 15. MVP 16. MVP I mean there were records broken even in the early seasons - again I don't dispute the stature - but we're talking another level here. Larry took the Celtics from 29/53 in '79 to 61-21 in '80. Singlehandedly. As a rookie. In a way, Larry was never a rookie. He was trash taling and humiliating veterans from day 1. CC is taking the Fevers from 13/27 last season to (partial) 18/17. Not as impactful, but still. We'll see at the end of the season. And she's also making the veterans loose their minds. The Warriors were 29/53 in 2009 and Curry took them to 26/56 in 2010. Well... that doesn't look like the same, does it?
@@no12578 What part that I don't dispute the career you don't get. But also it's no context vs Bird's starting seasons. I mean numbers simply don't lie. Curry had a massive influence on the league but NOT in the earlier seasons. As simple as that. He wasn't even in the conversation for MVP. BTW when I was watching Bird in the '80s there was no google... I was there. I remember. To put it simply, you keep talking about 2016 Curry. Completely irrelevant when comparing to a player in her rookie season. I'm talking 2010 Curry, rookie Curry. I'm comparing apples with apples, while you keep picking the best of an entire career vs. the early stages.
It's not surprising that Caitlin doesn't get more assists, it's maddening that the recipients of her passes can't make a layup. Caitlin would probable have 3 to 5 as many assists oer game if her team mates wouldn't miss wide open layups.
@@NoahLinden I've noticed that too, what is the deal? You learn how to make layups in elementary school. I bet I see 5 or 6 missed layups a game no matter who I'm watching, it's sad really.
@@NoahLinden I think that the league should require a layup seminar training camp in the off season. Everyone goes, and doesn't pass until they make an 80% average.
I think fans undervalue 20 point 10 assist games, since it happens all the time in the nba, it doesn’t happen in the wnba. CC has 7 this year, that’s third all time. It’s taken Diana taurasi 20 years just to get 9 of them. She’s already the best point guard in wnba history.
Her passing game is now more interesting that her shooting 3s. Most players adapt and get a new skill later in their career when they become less athletic. Caitlyn dominating on the pick and roll and transitions is just awesome to watch. Her transition passes are sick.
My dad said he was going to get some milk and if it wasnt for Caitlin Clark playing on TV later that evening, he wouldnt have come back. Thank you Caitin!!
Remember when Gino Auriemma said CC was too slow for the WNBA? I missed his public “MY BAD” when, as it turns out, CC is ever so slightly faster and ever so slightly smarter and ever so slightly more mature and ever so slightly more of a grown-ass woman than the WNBA’s best… 😂 Love it when these idiots eat crow. But just imagine, my brothers and sisters, and I know it’s a reach, but just imagine a world where the Fever actually win the WNBA championship with a CC three from the logo?!? Some sort of astral re-arrangement would happen and CC mania would achieve orbital velocity! 😊 🚀
This type of UA-camr play-by-play analysis is what other teams used to study CC games but what makes her different is her high IQ and experience during the game. ❤❤❤
Dude, that was the most awesome critical analysis I’ve heard of Caitlin’s talents and what opportunities they create for her teammates 😊. Not enough people see the subtleties you pointed out that make her so dangerous. It is videos like this that should make it far easier for people to see why she should be ROTY so thanks for taking the time to do all the stop-action and explain just exactly how her vision, skills and speed set her apart from every other player in the WNBA.
I really appreciate your slow motion analyses like this. I remember the beginning of the season when her team had no idea what to do with her speed and passing. They still fail to convert on some of her passes, but at least they are positioning themselves so much better now. The Fever are often like watching poetry in motion. Thanks!
I keep telling people. I’m from Iowa and have watched her from high school . The best is yet to come from this young woman. She is paying respect to her team mates but watch out for her to go beast mode in one of the playoff games. Just watch. All the haters will have no option than to praise her. She is cold !!
The paid media is just as bad as the rest of the WNBA. CC has shown a light on them and exposing just how subpar all of it is. From the commissioner (coaches, refs, etc) to the water boy, are showing why they have to be subsidised. Their product is awful without CC.
If Reese played for the Fever she would have 50+ fewer assists due to missed layups. Now that her teammates are realizing what she can do, her passes are ridiulculous.
@markspack Partially agree. Reece needs to figure out how to pass some of her open misses are just painful to watch. But being open and being open for a pass from CC are just two different things. As impressive as her shooting is, her vision and passing ability might be better. The Fever are figuring out just how much CC by her mere presence, like trying to defend her, can change the game.
@@markspackExactly. Put them both together and it’s not even right. Reese will improve her finishing, but obviously a great point making her shots easier will also improve her efficiency.
I like it more also and I think it's because it's fundamental basketball the men are just freaks of nature and it's a lot of iso ball and crazy dunks. I'd rather watch the passing as a team
Great breakdown. Personally I think the WNBA is more entertaining than the NBA, which is mostly egos and ball hogs. These gals play as a TEAM! So inspiring to watch. 👍
If you watch other videos, he praises and criticises alike, but they are always constructive. That’s why I watch this guy. He knows what he is talking about and his analysis makes sense. I like the tactical side of a lot of sports.
So, there's a LOT of Caitlin Clark stuff on youtube, obvi - but I just hit "Subscribe" to this channel because it's the ONLY one that's looking in hard detail at each game and actually breaking it down. I SO appreciate this content - thank you!
IMHO, the best part about Clark is that she fulfills the promise of the WNBA as a spectator sport, which is that it shouldn't just be a worse version of the NBA. The relative lack of athleticism compared to the NBA means that there are more passing windows, and the relative lack of speed means there's more time to think on your feet. So the WNBA should be a more tactical game.
She is also the first player electrifyingly talented enough to deserve NBA level pay and her hater colleagues should thank the stars above she is bringing so much viewership (and money) to the sport
You're right this is more fundamental basketball what they lack in athleticism they have to make up for in basketball. This is why I'm enjoying it more than nba. Yes the men are freaks of nature but I just enjoy the sport of basketball more than anything. I love watching the fever and the liberty
Before Clark entered the WNBA, it was like watching a 1950's NBA game. She's brought it up to the modern era. She's Bird, Magic, Stockton and Curry wrapped into one.
In 2002, Chamique Holdsclaw was the first player to finish a WNBA season leading in both scoring and rebounding with 19.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while playing for the Washington Mystics. Next closest behind her in the scoring column was Tamika Catchings with 18.6 points. Sheryl Swoopes was third with 18.5 points and second in steals with 2.75 per game. Lisa Leslie was just behind Holdsclaw in rebounding with 10.4 per game that year. Swoopes ended up winning the 2002 WNBA MVP. The question is how could Holdsclaw as the first player EVER in WNBA history to finish a season leading in both scoring and rebounding NOT win MVP??? It’s the story! It is the only thing that makes sense. Swoopes’ recovery from a torn ACL (in Aug, 2001) was a catalyst for the Comets qualifying for their sixth straight playoffs, making them the only team to compete in every WNBA postseason up to that point and earn them the second best record in the league at 24-8. Swoopes comeback story was more intriguing than Holdsclaw’s actual statistics of being the first player EVER in WNBA history to finish a season leading in both scoring and rebounding. It had nothing to do with winning a championship either as both the Mystics and Comets lost in the playoffs. Why do I bring up this story now? I can see history repeating itself. For nearly a decade, the Indiana Fever have been the laughing stock of the league. From 2017-2023, they went 58-174 with NO playoff appearances, and finished in last place three times. They won six or fewer games in four of those seasons, and the only time they didn't reach the 20-loss mark is when the 2020 season was shortened to 22 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In three consecutive years from 2021-23, they selected a player in the lottery who would be waived in less than two seasons. Then came Caitlin Clark, the rookie who has broken countless records, and is averaging 18.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and a league-leading 8.4 assists, has revitalized the franchise, both on and off the court. Clark has tallied the first rookie triple-doubles in WNBA history earlier this season and currently leads the league in assists per game. She has broken the rookie assist record and has the most single-season double-doubles by a guard in WNBA history… all of them have been with points and assists. Clark just became the first rookie in WNBA history to earn a Player of the Month award. Together with Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, Clark has turned the Fever into the team no one else wants to face in the playoffs. Caitlin Clark for MVP is a comeback story worth voting for!
That passed was a quarter back pass to Boston. Check the distance of that pass. I look forward to watching her games, because she's always gonna come through with something nice.
not so sure she actually sees the actual hoop, but maybe she can at least make out it's general direction, as usually she just hucks the ball within 5 feet of it and hopes for the best.
I sprinted but Caitlin Clark turned on the jets and beat me here. A slow start in the 1stQ but when the jacket came off, you made a mockery of the NBA and WNBA with a step-back three in the eye. Nice ensemble, Coach. 😎
CC is a basketball savant. She’s got a high IQ and skills. The pro game slowed down very quickly for her. She’s a highlight reel every time she walks on the court.
Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually starting to miss angry Coach. This positive, encouraging guy who’s been covering the Fever all season is unrecognizable.
It's the Ritalin talking. That, or AC's as taken by athletic excellence as we are. Not to worry, the season and playoffs are near and when they're done, the old AC will rip Doc Rivers a new one every 3rd day while ever so slightly stroking out.
Caitlin Clark has vision, ball IQ, blow by speed, and half court 3 range. She isn’t afraid to throw crazy passes, so yes a number do turn into turnovers, but it still puts the opposing team on their back feet. Simply the most fun to watch player in the WNBA, and IMO all of basketball with what she’s doing and how she carries herself. She won over her teammates, even ones who didn’t like her at first, because she is *that good* but also has the charisma to pull people in to wanting to play with her. Simply ROTY and very likely MVP, because Indiana would still be bottom basement without her.
She has the highest basketball IQ in the league. She will not only be the greatest woman's player of all time. But she will then become the GOAT WNBA coach. And absolutely crush Swoopes legacy in every single way.

Man you are great at this. So many recap channels are AI voiced or rambling praise with no insight. I appreciate your quick delivery combined with the very clear explanations as to what happened and why as I am not very familiar with the nuances of basketball strategy, I always saw it as people just being a good shot but it's much more than that. I rarely watch sports and have never watched the WNBA until Caitlin but now I'm as big a fan of Clark, Boston, Mitchell, Hull, etc... as I was of the 1984 Lakers. This team has changed the game.
LA's strategy was every one guard Clark, ignore the rest.
Bad move. That whole team is becoming quite the threat now especially with Boston and Mitchell oh my goodness! Do we have a future champion team already?! I think so.

That assist at 6:52 was sick! She blew right by two defenders then assisted behind the back between two more! Unreal.

Those of us who saw her at Iowa for a couple years are *used to this*. This looks like CC at Iowa, in many ways, but while Iowa had some good teammates for CC, they didn't have Aliyah Boston, or Kelsey Mitchell, or Lexie Hull, etc.

Passing the ball is faster than dribbling. Clark is one of the best facilitators in the W.
I don't really watch the WNBA, only catching some CC highlights here and there, but even with NBA players, there might only be a handful of guys who could complete the kind of passes she is consistently making.
Shes got some nasty handles too though, shes got it on a string a full speed, thats not easy to do.
Pretty much especially doing alien like passes like she does. That skips the whole opposition in a flash 😂
I enjoyed the game--but I enjoy the coach's video explaining what the hell I just watched even more!
Caitlin Clark makes me want to skip the NFL Sunday and watch her instead.
Jesus, they have the fever playing on the next TWO Sundays. What the hell are they doing

Fans on opposing teams are wearing CC jersey's. That's crazy. She's inspiring everyone.
Here's what the debut of a legend looks like:
81. ROY and 4th MVP
82. 2nd MVP
83. 2nd MVP
83. 2nd MVP
84. MVP
85. MVP
86. MVP
Here's another legend:
85. ROY and 6th MVP
86. ~broken foot~
87. 2nd MVP
88. MVP
89. 2nd MVP
90. 3rd MVP
91. MVP
92. MVP
CC is headed in the same direction. She's ROY (unless she's robbed) and in the discussion as MVP, probably ending up 2nd or 3rd. Again we're looking at the rookie season because that's what we have so far.
Here's Curry's early seasons:
10. lost ROY, 0 votes MVP
11. 0 votes MVP
12. 0 votes MVP
13. 11th MPV
14. 6th MVP
15. MVP
16. MVP
I mean there were records broken even in the early seasons - again I don't dispute the stature - but we're talking another level here.
The inability to make layups is a league-wide problem.
Diana couldn’t hold Caitlyn’s panties!
She's hit 8 shots from the 30 or more feet I think I read. The rest of the league has combined for 6
Her passing game is now more interesting that her shooting 3s. Most players adapt and get a new skill later in their career when they become less athletic. Caitlyn dominating on the pick and roll and transitions is just awesome to watch. Her transition passes are sick.
I didn't even know there was an WNBA, until the female MJ/Steph Curry came on the scene. She is a pleasure to watch. Great job Coach.

This type of UA-camr play-by-play analysis is what other teams used to study CC games but what makes her different is her high IQ and experience during the game. ❤❤❤
The intensity and accuracy of these breakdown vids are just as good as the plays themselves
Saw that pass at 6:00 live and was in complete disbelief, glad you caught it too and included it here
Why can’t the paid media analysts put content this good together?
The content wouldn't be sufficiently inclusive. It would be canceled before it would be released.
@@SBCBears The gaslighting is infuriating
The paid media is just as bad as the rest of the WNBA. CC has shown a light on them and exposing just how subpar all of it is. From the commissioner (coaches, refs, etc) to the water boy, are showing why they have to be subsidised. Their product is awful without CC.
because they are told what their agendas are.

Great analysis! This is why I watch Fever games. Fast paced exciting with lots of ball movement.
This is the best CC play by play. Thank you!
Before Clark entered the WNBA, it was like watching a 1950's NBA game. She's brought it up to the modern era. She's Bird, Magic, Stockton and Curry wrapped into one.
You don’t have to pretend to have watched a WNBA game before her
In 2002, Chamique Holdsclaw was the first player to finish a WNBA season leading in both scoring and rebounding with 19.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while playing for the Washington Mystics.

Why do so many people in the media hate her? She bringing viewers to the league.
She is by far the best player in he league. It takes only a few seconds to see it.
Caitlin Clark has created so many positive vibes for AC, that he has begun to heal that awful blackness he feels inside.
