Picked up one last week and sprayed a custom arcade cabinet I am making. Worked like a charm! I got mine on sale for $10! 10 freaking dollars! Best $10 I've ever spent. And I actually found out about it by watching your other video on thinning Rustoleum. Thanks!
My fluid tip didn't come off by itself. The metal peice behind that came off with it. The two peices are not able to be taken apart. Will this be a problem?
What position did you put that black plastic ring in between the gun body and the nozzle? I think you can put it in a few ways to change air flow but I’m not sure.
@@michaelhinchey you shouldn't need more than a quart of basecoat paint and a quart of clear. If the hood is in really bad shape then add in another quart of primer.
Great content. Question. I heard that you have to or should squeeze the trigger while removing the needle assembly. Should that be done or does it matter? If it does matter what does it accomplish by doing that? Thanks a lot. I just purchased one. Mine didn’t have a wrench btw. Thanks.
could not remove the needle from hell from the mini detail 4 oz gun. Pulled trigger, unscrewed needle as far as it would go, removed the Nozzle, fluid TIP stuck. Back to unsrewing fruid NEEDLE that stopped spinning. turned harder-Fluid NEEDLE snapped off inside. Back to the front-Fluid TIP so stuck almost snapped that too. Used auto bolt remover fluid on it with tapping. Finally the fluid tip is off the gun. The fluid needle protrudes from front of gun. Pull trigger, and apply 100 pounds force to needle head to try and back it out of the now clear chamber. No luck. Recommend soaking the entire gun in bolt remover fluid out of the box.
Mine didn’t comes with a tool to remove the fluid tip and 19mm wrench are not that thin, I have not seen a 19mm that is that thin, how should I remove it, thanks
I got the very same gun. No tool with it. (Guessing it might have been 'borrowed' from someone.) I don't have a thin enough tool either. Is the tool you used a 18? 19? mm. Have ever used it for latex? What size tip? Mine came with a 1.4 - a bit too small, I would guess, for thinned latex.
I sprayed latex thinned with water this afternoon through same model with 1.4 tip. Eorked great. But did take expirimentation to get the right consistency and pattern
Yeah there's no way to get the fluid tip off that I have found. A wrench does not work on it either. I don't know how to get the fluid tip off I think I'm just going to have to throw my gun away every time I use it.
That goo inside the gun is usually translucent silicone sealant, the number one cause for fish eye in your paint job. Silicone and spray painting don't play well together. Best to remove this with silicone sealant remover and replace it with PTFE Teflon tape.
Let it evaporate in a container. Make sure it is some place high so little kids and animals can't get to it. You can also pour it on some paper towels in a metal trash can.
Is there anything inherently more difficult about cleaning this gun than other guns? I keep hearing that this is a throwaway gun. If a more expensive gun is easier to clean I would rather buy that. Thank you.
Cleaning is annoying in general. I have cleaned and reused my gun multiple times. Some people rather just buy another one then spend the time to clean it.
Don't let the EPA see you spraying stuff on the floor. It wouldn't be as bad to have maybe some paper in a trash can and spray it on that. I'm sure it won't be toilet paper or paper towels at the moment. lol I use cheap clean up lacquer thinner to clean my stuff.
@@BulliKid When all the insanity is over I'll send you a bunch of paint strainers. I seldom use one and they always bring me a stack when I order paint. My 3M PPS has strainer built into the disposable lid.

Sweet!!!
I agree. I have a home made spray gun at work and I use acetone to clean it after every use

How in the world did you get the fluid tip loose? They are tighter than tight and a regular wrench does not fit
@@Kolonol1 not a clue. I just kept trying to twist it. I could not get the tip separated from the piece behind it.
@@jschlierf1323 well the trigger was leaking and I got another one...while I was there I tried every gun they had and it was stuck
What about just filling the cup with acetone and spraying it all through?
Yes It may help but won’t fully clean the gun. You need sk s thing to agitate the oil paint off.
Do you clean gun between each different paint, or empty out leftover paint and then add next color and spray on card board until color comes out
I empty and clean.
i was cleaning mine yesterday and a small O ring fell out! Any idea where it may have been in this gun? Thanks

About how much paint would I need for a hood? Pint, quart or gallon? Painting over primer.
Its a 2008 crv
Good question. Since it’s so cheap I would get extras just in. Add. 2 -3 quarts should be enough
@@BulliKid wow. I only thought it would be A FEW pints. Lol. Time to reevaluate and maybe pay a shop.

It just helps to push the needle out back more. It’s doesn’t really matter at all. I never do when I take it out.
@@BulliKid Thanks for the answer! Have a great day!
Thanks! That was awesome.
Thanks for watching!

You can use a wrench
@@BulliKidno you can't... That's the problem
Can you also use lacquer thinner instead of acetone to clean the gun?
For cleaning I believe so

It’s 1.4 tip. Never did latex buy for sure you hve to dilute. The tool came with older model guns only.

i have the same problem
How to open that thing at 4:52 sir??
I just twist very hard
Why you don't use the filter?
It blocks a lot of the thick paint to flow through. I still strain it so it’s all good.
Great useful video
Thanks

I did see that silicone. Bad construction for sure. Good tip!
What do you do with the solvent left over from cleaning the gun?
If it’s dirty I pour it out on some rocks.
Let it evaporate in a container. Make sure it is some place high so little kids and animals can't get to it. You can also pour it on some paper towels in a metal trash can.
how does that gun do for spraying clear coat ?
I just started spraying 2k clear universal and it does a decent job! There is a fine line before your good and then you run.
Thanks
You welcome !!
Thanks bro

Still have to clean the new one before using..
