I have a question: I am trying to set it up the same way you did in the video, where my ipad is the control station thing and my phone is the camera. My only issue is, my ipad does not contain a camera. Is there anyway to fix this issue or should I just use a different, smaller device?

Hey so I checked with the manual for the app and it looks like your camera is compatible however I do not believe a live view will appear. Are you able to see the name of your camera show up on the computer?
hello its me again i bought a usb cable and it shows nothing still i went through the settings and nothing still but i am wondering if it is my computer or type or cord?
I have two phones, one as a camera, and the other for control. I have been having problems with the connection recently and I don't know what is wrong. I press the shutter button on the control phone and it shows the progress bar. Once the bar reaches the end it starts again and never stops. I have tried turning it on and off again and even just leaving it alone but nothing seems to work. This is really affecting my stop motion schedule as I want to release it before Christmas but I'm just over half way animating because it does this every time I turn it on recently. Do you know what is wrong with it or what I can do instead? I'll try another phone if this one doesn't work by the end of today.

Thanks for the tutorial: Manually changing the camera settings in the app is really useful. Were you able to save those settings so that if you need to leave the project (disconnect remote camera - usually a phone) you can come back to to it and have those same settings again? Does a person need to note down each manual setting used and re-adjust them each time each time the app is opened? When reconnecting the remote camera all settings are reverted to Automatic in the app. It makes it really difficult to maintain consistency in the scene when you need to spend ages fine tuning focus, zoom, WB, exposure, ISO, etc each time you want to carry on with a project. Perhaps this isn't a problem with a DSLR and only with a phone. Any insight is appreciated.

Hmm that's really strange. Maybe try a different port or put a different card in. I'm not sure what could be wrong. Try reaching out to stop motion studio and see what they say.
I think I am having the same issue but with my rebel t3i, did you ever find a solution? I think the camera is using my laptop for charing instead of for the app. As of writing this comment, for whatever reason it began to work. I ended up connecting the USB part of it to one of apples USB to C cable and put it in the non charging port of my adapter. It seems that worked for me but we will see if it is a long term solution. I also ordered another cable but it meant to be for "data transferring" vs charging maybe that might make a difference. Edit: After some messing around with the my camera and the app I found something that might work. When I have the camera in MF I just turn the lens focus point and my laptop/stop motion notices I want to use the camera for live viewing and the camera appears on my screen. Hope this helps for those with the same issue!

Hey dude! I need help finding a good laptop that i can connect my webcam to, for my chromebook i can not connect a webcam to it, so what is a good laptop that is cheap for my stop motions!
So my Chromebook is an android and im wandering if the reason why I cant connect my webcam to the chromebook is that i bought it from the android app store on the chromebook and the app store acts as a appstore for a smart phone, and smart phones can not connect to remote cameras, do think i need to buy it from the stop motion studio on the website for stop motion studio?
@@theafilmssm Microsoft will probably be cheaper to go with than apple. I don't think buying the app from the app store is the problem if all the other "pro" features are working. Can other apps on your Chromebook recognise the webcam or do all apps not work with the webcam?

I think you need to use the usb cable in order for it to work. There might be way to do it over wifi but I'm not sure how to do that.

It works on mac, window, chrombooks and most phone/tablets. But you can only use a dslr on a mac/windows I believe

Good question. You can use canon, sony, and nikon cameras with this app. But I think the set up is a little different.

The pro unlocks the feature so you do have to buy the pro

Maybe check to see if both devices are on the same wifi.
