She doesn't have to state anything about the war, stop putting a resident from another country on the spot for something you don't care about. It's a headline to you! And shame on the reporter for even putting this athlete in that position!

Your opinion. To me however, I think she is not an ostrich and can just pretend nothing is wrong. In her own country she cannot say what she thinks, she is also spoon-fed. I suppose she won't take all the money she earns in her cursed and depraved West. Principles apply to many people only when it suits them best. Hypocrites, but that is also the norm in her home country, so normal for her. And also pretend that all this makes her feel unsafe during the press conference. Get comfortable in the victim role; again something like that; blaming the other. You don't just lose the seed of indoctrination that is planted in Belarus and Russia and that you grow up with..

It was definitely asked by a Ukrainian reporter, who just wanted to hear her position that she hasn't publicly stated. She is a representative of a country that was banned from international competitions, and people deserve to hear an answer. By the way, you're lucky you didn't hear her cursing out her coaches on court - she's acting very low class.

A Belarus athlete wins millions in North America when her country is helping Russia invade the Ukraine and North America is helping the Ukraine defend itself.
Andy Murray has donated a large amount of his prized money to the Ukrainian children in need in the war.
Is Aryana going to contribute anything? Maybe to Russian soldiers.
      Let’s not hide from reality.

I consider Aryna, Elena, and Iga to be the top 3 players on the WTA. Any one of these 3 can beat the others depending on the situation. Very seldom will they lose to anyone else. Congrats to Aryna on the huge win, and thanks to both she and Svitolina for an incredible match to watch. Tennis at a completely different level on the WTA circuit. Awesome.

Sabalenka and most of us can understand why Kostyuk and most Ukrainians feel the way they do against the Russian bloc. It is very hard for Ukrainians to focus on something while knowing their people are under periodic bombings and missile attacks from Russia. But the U.S. and W. Europe should ask themselves the same question. What did they do to Serbia during the 1990s? Ask Novak what happened?

Honestly, that reporter seemed to be asking a personal question. U can even feel the shake in her voice and how emotional she got while asking. Not to mention was a aggressive question made to put Aryna on the spot.
Is kind of weird tho. As much as it would be pretty to believe, regardless of her actions, Aryna or any other player for that matter, simply cant change what its happening in their country. If she actually turn too vocal against it, it would literally just raise problems for her at home with minimal if any impact to end the war just to satisfy some people hypocrisy. Shes just an individual working on her profession as we all do. I do believe shes against it as were many germans against the WW's, it didnt matter then it wouldnt matter now. Thats just some small satisfaction people want to build to feel good about themselves but practically has lil to none effect in the issue. Instead of asking this stupid questions ask her to donate to help the victims, that would be lot more effective and helpful instead of forcing her in a position of villain or martyr.
While people are actually suffering from the war, here we are, sitting at home with our beautiful working internet, commenting on a video of a tournament that god knows how much it charges for its fees and its definitely making some people even richer and u want to talk about war? Isnt there something really hypocrite in all this?

Yes, she deserves to win matches and trophies as she works and plays hard, but it's very disappointing as a character in a leadership position. Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag?
USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq. Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them.

It is NOT the conflict in Ukraine why ppl have issues with Aryna! She possesses the potential to be a really cool individual, but it is her on court antics that turn ppl off. If she would first off stop grunting while the other player is hitting the ball, that would be a excellent start. Her grunting distracts me & I'm not on the other side of the net, but it bugs me! If it is distracting to crowds, it has to be distracting for the opponent! It is unfair and nothing short of bullying & trying to disrupt the opponents concentration! If she stops the grunting, loud noise, and on court antics and gamesmenship, ppl would change their attitude toward her! Let her game speak for her, not her grunting and distracting tactics to win at all costs! Absolutely nothing to do with being Russian! The Russian players don't necessarily hold the views of their government.....

Why do Tennis fans pick up on her? The War in Ukraine is Joe Biden's fault. The Russians waited for 8 long years to make peace in the Donbas but the West had a war in mind. The war in Ukraine started in 2014. Besides, fans should not judge players on ground of nationality. Politics should be banned from Sports. Tennis should be clean from Politics. Let her shine in what she loves to do in life, Tennis is not politics.

Iraq war alone had over 460k deaths and there wasnt even a fraction of this amount of sanctions or noise. So those civilians didnt matter? Where was NATO and all this friendly countries then? Right or wrong, Russia has a clear political reason for their war. Its 2023 now, did the nuclear weapons in Iraq were found? What about the amount of innocents that died in the Afghanistan war with missiles and "strategic" drone attacks? Or even the financial aid for Arabia to plunge Yemen with bombs?
American athletes werent banned from anything nor sanction were made and despite all the pretty public noise against the war at the time Iraq occupation only ended several years later and only in this current administration in the US that the occupation in Afghanistan finally ended after over 20 yrs. All that was fine because was a western country?
So can we stop this nonsense of trying to make an example out of this young girls or anyone from countries related to Russia or even general Russians citizens for that matter?
Of course they will avoid public declarations. Do people understand what kind of impact going against the regime could cause to their lives? Just a reminder for those that like to think their ideals apply everywhere. Theres no beautiful laws about freedom of speech in Russia.
