Why I do love your channel, Mark: in addition to finance proper you introduce a lot of other useful and interesting stuff which I would have never run across by my own
You were so important for my Level 1, looking forward for your help in Level 2! Amazing job yoy do, you are a great teacher and I cant thank you enough.
Good thing is I nailed level 1 yesterday because I didn't spend time trying to memorise things, but rather understand 90% of the content and memorising was just the emergency tool for when I hit the wall with some stuff. One comes to realise content is forgotten eventually with the process of preparation of the exam as material is so abundant and dense that you really need to create connections among content and relate things and formulas with the help of some common sense. It doesn't matter how high your IQ is, you get recked at some point relying solely in memory gods.
I'm glad that i chose to watch & learn from your videos Dr. Mark! You're an absolute legend! I'm gonna be buying the quant section for L2 now, thrilled to start the L2 journey! Once again thanks Prof!
Nuclear energy is the most energy-dense energy source, and has the largest capacity factor (actually some hydro plants can have higher capacity factors, but this is very dependent on location and type). Efficiency is desired-output/required input. For thermal power plants (nuclear, coal, natural gas, garbage incineration...) the required input is the thermal power of the plant and the desired output is the electrcal power generated. For thermal power plants the efficiency depends only on the temperature difference between the heat source (fuel or some fluid connected to the fuel) and the condenser (outdoor temperature). I guess it depends on how you measure "efficient". If it is the mass of fuel used, then nuclear is the most efficient. If you are measuring the waste heat, then nuclear is not, although it can be if someone designs such a nuclear power plant that is more efficient than current natural gas plant. But in the power plant industry efficiency is measured by the electricsl power generated over the thermal power generated by the fuel.
Great tips on changing the approach for Level 2. Thank you Mark! Love your videos, super valuable. Also I agree, Thinking Fast and Slow is a fantastic book. A related book that is amazing is The Undoing Project by Michael Lewis - describes their life stories and how it shaped the way they see the world, which lead to their professional partnership and research.
This is the first time I have seen this video even though it is several years old. Wish I saw it before as I am a CPA who has failed Level II three times using Kaplan. Just followed the same approach I used with them to pass Level I and never caught on regarding the right approach to pass Level II. 2,100 hours over three tests. My wife is no longer willing to live without me during our hours after work or on weekends. So, I am no longer pursuing this goal. Good ideas though!!!
This is quite solid advice. Is it possible to go through the practice questions (which are geared towards application) and still not be prepared for the exam?
You can study for 2-3 hours post work and 4-5 hours on weekends. I mean, anyone working full time who decides to give Level 2 would've considered this. You just can't be that blind when you're about to give L2
It's seems your prayers is answered. All the exams in China are postponed, I don't know how is it like in the US. Anyways, may the pandemic be gone in no time.
If there is new content for 2018, that will be changed. If a reading stays the same, then no changes are needed. I will be adding some extra content just for clarity for Derivatives and fixed income however regardless of any changes.
Hi Professor, I got my passed result an hour ago. Just want to thank you for your hard work from the bottom of my heart, and I will see you for level II tomorrow.
Hi Mark, great videos. I passed level I with their help. I subscribed your vimeo channel but i'm suffering from the lack of the first readings. Please upload them! (I'm studying the currency arbitrage part but i'm not getting it) Thanks!
I am working on Quant right now. Next will be Alt. Inv. You are on econ and that will be up before Jan 15. By Jan 1`5, all reading will be done. i am going in order of importance.
Taking level 1 in June but will keep this in mind come august. How do you feel about taking other exams in between? E.g.: The CAIA? Which one would you recommend and why? Thanks again Mark. Videos are great. PS.: I drive 30 mins to and from work every day. Do you have another source for some sound bites ? Quant is hard to take in while driving!
Good Morning Mark I just cleared my L1 exam last week , and i am contemplating doing my L2 . How long would you ideally suggest for preparation ? I am a student and will graduate in April , so i have Feb and March where i can partially concentrate on it and 2 months (Apr & May) wherein i can focus all my attention towards preparation. I am keen on doing it though i am also very skeptical considering its nearly $1000 and postponing it would mean pushing it back a year which is not ideal. Given my situation , what would you advise?
Dr. Meldrum, I am currently studying for Level II; although, I am having a hard time with defaulting to my previous learning methods of memorizing. Do you have a practical way to combat memorizing while studying versus taking the time to understand the material?
Don't wait until your results to start. Begin right away. All level 2 videos and video notes will be available by then. I assume you are using the UA-cam level 1 videos now. Level 2 will be done the same way, but more detail and discussion.
Professor, I used your Level 2 vimeo videos last year, but I am trying to see them again and the link you have in the description says that couldn´t find the page. Will you upload Level 2 videos again, if so how can I access them. Thank you.
Mark do you know if its possible to order the CFAI books for L2 while we wait for our results for Level 1? I am planning on purchasing your notes regardless as I do not want to wait until end of January to start studying for L2. Thank you!
Do you have a video or any advice now that we have received level 1 scores by subject for the December exam? In my case, I had 5 subjects 50-70 and 5 subjects over 70. Should i start by the good/ bad subjects? Put less time on certain subjects? Learn more on my "strong" subjects so I still score over 70?
Hi Mark, I flunked my CFA L-2 exam today, i am enrolling for your course for L-2. Wanted to know if i could understand from your L-2 lectures ,some concepts which i could not understand in L-1. Your reply is awaited sincerely. Thanks Raghavan
Not quite sure what you are asking here - but the L2 2020 content goes on sale Thursday, August 8th at 7:00 am. If there are some things from l1 that you are not quite strong on, you can ask for clarification under the videos for Level 2.
@@MarkMeldrum Thanks Mark for replying so promptly. I was asking if i am weak in certain topics of L-1 how will i cope up with that in L-2 from your lectures. Since L-2 focuses on analyzing and applying. Thanks
sir, i will taking the level 2 exam by june 2018 so i hv at least more than a year to prepare. if i want to start the preparation now, should i start with the 2017 curriculum book from CFA which comes upon registration (a friend of mine is doing the exam this june 17) or should i start with the prep books such as swescher notes or should i wait till the 2018 curriculum is out? thnks.
I always think the source books are best. I would go with CFAI. Year over year there are changes, but the are usually limited to 4 or 5 readings. So out of 52 readings, 45 or so will remain the same. So you can use 2017 and just update for 2018 when those will be out in late July.
thnks sir, btw i have subscribe ur channel and hope you continue to post the videos on level 2 as you did for level 1. appreciate it so much. i tried vimeo, but seem the app is not working well. Thnks for the reply sir. will start reading the cfa source.

Hi Professor, I got my passed result an hour ago. Just want to thank you for your hard work from the bottom of my heart, and I will see you for level II tomorrow.
I also think that some people will find level 2 and 3 waaayyt easier than level 1 because its so difficult to cram 5000 pages
That makes it about 9% that make it one shot to get done with CFA program.

Professor,
Compared to lvl 1, does lvl 2 has too many more hours of videos, or somewhat equal?
Thanks!
About the same for Level 2 - if not a little bit more.
Awesome, thanks!
Hello Mark. On your UA-cam channel you have 3 playlists for CFA level 2, are these playlists just a snapshot of whats in your vimeo channel?
Yes
Taking level 1 in June but will keep this in mind come august. How do you feel about taking other exams in between? E.g.: The CAIA? Which one would you recommend and why?
Thanks again Mark. Videos are great.
PS.: I drive 30 mins to and from work every day. Do you have another source for some sound bites ? Quant is hard to take in while driving!
Well, CAIA is for Alternative Investments. FRM (financial risk manager) is more closely aligned with the CFA.

Good Morning Mark
I just cleared my L1 exam last week , and i am contemplating doing my L2 .
How long would you ideally suggest for preparation ?

I am keen on doing it though i am also very skeptical considering its nearly $1000 and postponing it would mean pushing it back a year which is not ideal.

You may not even be able to qualify to write L2 in June given that you are not yet done school. Better call CFAI and check first.
Are ur videos divided per reading? (The way cfa curriculum presents it?)
Yes. I cover everything, LOS by LOS.
Is it compulsory to take lv2 after graduating, guys
Dr. Meldrum, I am currently studying for Level II; although, I am having a hard time with defaulting to my previous learning methods of memorizing. Do you have a practical way to combat memorizing while studying versus taking the time to understand the material?
Internalization comes from solving problems - as many as you can.
thoughts on trying to cram after taking L1 in december?

If you have full-time focus, yes.
I am not able to find CFA level 2 FRA videos on this channel.. can you please help?
They are not on UA-cam. They are on markmeldrum.com

I no longer use Vimeo. I use markmeldrum.com
Note also that $17/month USD was last year's option. that no longer exists now.
Mark Meldrum thanks, I just figured it out. Thank you.

Level 2 has different weights on topics than exam 1. Focus more attention on the weightier topics.
