OK, I'm only slightly shocked because Harry Potter and Scooby Doo are literally my two biggest fandom's, and I just watched episode three of "Scooby Doo, where are you!" the other day, "hassle in the castle" One of my favorite episodes. Cassandra or Kassandra, was a priestess of Apollo in Greek mythology cursed to utter true prophecies, but never to be believed and subsequently others have been cursed the same. Also said that should they receive a vision of the importance they will be unable to remember it as please who suffer this curse often do because they have abused there gift. Just a theory I thought of and thought you might find interesting :)
I think Professor Trelawney's grandmother was a famous seer named Cassandra, so the curse you're talking about could have been inspiration for Trelawney's character
