    THE SHRIMP POSTURE IS MEEEE omg. i also like writing every day or at least 6 times a week whenever i'm drafting a book bc it DOES get intimidating to dive in after a long break! your steak/stake metaphor made me laugh because whenever i get bored reading back my scenes, i always say "this is feeling vegetarian" LOL. as for long chapters, i feel like im in the minority but i love them. i think if the flow and conflict makes sense, no one will notice if a chapter is "long" :)

    I wish I could write everyday, but I usually get burnt out when I try.
    29:10 Regarding the cousin's kids, they would actually be your first cousins once removed. The way to figure it out is by asking who the shared ancestor is.
    If you and the other person have the same grandparents, you're first cousins. If you and the other person have the same great grandparents, you're second cousins. If the shared ancestor is your grandparents, but the other person's great grandparents, you're first cousins once removed.

    I like long videos. I usually take mini breaks from watching the long video if i am just sitting down and watching it, but long videos are great for me when I am in the shower or doing something else along side watching the video i.e cleaning or at work.

    "I'm starting to really resent having so many books." Yep. Yep. Yeeeeeeep. I had to move last June, and the books were a nightmare. So, so, so, so heavy. So, so, soooooooo heavy. (And I had a significantly smaller collection than you did). Actually, writing this is giving me flashbacks, so I better move on. Haha
    Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question! I agree with everything that you say. "Focus on what you can control." I think that I've subconsciously been doing that anyway, but hearing it put into words...yep. That's the key to staying sane in this world of ours.
    As far as 2024 is concerned, my goal is to (legitimately) get to a point where I can feel comfortable enough investing in a mechanical keyboard. There's actually much, much larger implications behind that, but that's the mini goal holding everything together.
    (Also, I enjoy long vlogs like this. So, you won't see me complaining,)

    I just started watching but earlier this week I was thinking a lot about how lapses in writing make it harder and harder to get back into it!! I try not to preach 'write every day' since it doesn't work for everyone ofc but I think it might be a necessity for me now :') anyway, I'm glad I'm not alone, so excited to watch the rest!! I LOVE the longer vlogs!!

    Your reasons for deciding to write everyday like same, same. I learned with this manuscript that a break of a day or two while drafting for makes it easy for my momentum to fall right off a cliff lol. The break turns into one day then two then three then next thing I know it's been three weeks away lol and then (just like you mentioned) I'm intimidated to get back to my own story. I'm trying this year to do a 'at _least_ write 250 words' on days that I want a break lol. Hoping this new year is a beautiful one for you!

    Happy New Year! 🎉 I used to schedule “writing days” where I would focus on my writing for most of the day, but they didn’t work as well for me as writing more often for a shorter amount of time.

    Hi, Kelley! The shrimp posture is relatable! 😂 I love these longer writing vlogs! So cool! It’s so great to see you make progress on your YA fantasy novel! Never be ashamed to have too many books! Books are life! 🥰 And I love your kitties. So cute! 😻 Best of luck with your move and balancing all of your freelance editing work! I’m also a freelancer (sensitivity/authenticity reading, not editing).
    One of my 2024 goals is to revise my PhD dissertation novel and then query it later this year!

    Hi, I had some questions about Augur and the submissions: do I have to pay something to participate
    Btw I'm looking foward to participate!

    • @kelleyiswriting
      @kelleyiswriting  8 місяців тому +2

      Good question! No, there are no submission fees. All the magazines I mentioned, including Augur, don't have submission fees. It's usually a red flag when a magazine or publisher asks the contributor to pay to submit!
