      Academy of Ideas This is a serious question. Is labelling oneself as a scapegoat equivalent with projecting to the bully? I feel like I have been mistreated by my parents my whole life. I believe my father is an NPD and my mom a combination of borderline and NPD. No matter how much I try I always get the blame, always looked upon in such a bad light,and I’m never enough. I have many neurotic tendencies that I’m trying to overcome and I’m scared if I’m ignorant to the fact that I’m actually projecting just like they often do to me.

    This. Is. The. Work. I am so encouraged and moved and terribly challenged by your videos. Thank you and please keep doing it!
    But man, we need help... I felt like I knew all “this stuff” pretty well. Then I encountered myself in a controlled psychedelic experience and *jeeeeeeesus*, man - the shadow is *real*. And it’s holy and horrible and... terribly challenging as I said above.
    I just.... It’s such challenging, brave work to confront this part of one’s self. And we need help learning how to engage these ideas experientially.
    But I want to say, if it weren’t for exposure to Jung and other mystic-ish Doaist-ish conversations, I wouldn’t have fared half as well as I did when I confronted this side of me. It was in large part your videos that provide my encounter with Jung, who, in turn, provides my encounter with a kind of intelligent mythopoetic mysticism, which in turn provides all my connection to the goddam universe! So, yea, thanks for the videos. They really mattered to me.

      I dont know if the video said this, I didnt watch it all through but fight the "bad" side with the good side literally. With patience, confidence, integrity, acceptance and respect. Always take higher doses. Sooner or later you'll fall off the edge and see that god is a demon. Of course from then on you'll suffer horribly. God is a jealous god. AKA the Demiurge. I hope it goes well for you, I have a similar background and it’s not easy. I don’t nessecarly think it’s wrong to point out a cause to one’s problem, the problem is when we strongly identify with our own mind, when we defend our ego and take sides of the same coin. The cause and affects in any given situation are infinite and perhaps your father acted that way because he too experienced abandonment.

    Here is a Junq's quote that summarizes idividual who discovers himself : " The acceptance of oneself is the essence of the whole moral problem and the epitome of a whole outlook on life. That i feed the hungry, that i forgive an insult, that i love my enemy - all these are undoubtedly great virtues. But what if i should discover that the least among them all, the poorest of all the beggars, the most impudent of all the offenders, the very enemy himself-that these are WITHIN ME, and that i myself stand in the need of the alms of my own kindness - that I MYSELF AM THE ENEMY who must be loved - what then?

    I think I said this before but great work with this video, I'm a psych student and already I'm finding myself bringing up Jung and defending him to my teachers, because while I understand his theories can't be tested, as far as we know, and he freely admitted it too, in his own words, intuitively, he was without peer with this work, almost blurring the lines between psychology, meta-physics, philosophy and religion. One of the very few truly great intellects and there will be not be another Jung. That is all.

    I see projection a lot in arguments. They will even project the fact the they are projecting and accuse you of projection. I don't know if people can overcome their illusions. It seems like that requires a character of truthfulness, and I don't know how one can obtain that. What if it's all stupidity? I've become pessimistic about whether people really improve themselves. Most people only bother enough to function in society, which is such a low bar. To be excellent for the sake of excellence. What encourages that?

    • @Kilic19PwNaGe
      @Kilic19PwNaGe 6 років тому +37

      Yourself. You are your worse enemy and your best ally... Memento Mori, my friend.
      Focus on inner excellence rather than projecting disappointment into a generalized statement such as "most people".
      Seek for the inner Truth and you'll see pessimism and optimism, two very easily destabilized ideas, lose all meaning on you. The truth is cold, and is frozen in a prison made out of ice; hope is the prison.
      Therefor, dare seek for coldness and hope.

    A good way I like to simplify this 'shadow' into a tangible experience is by looking at the baby photos of men and women who engaged in evil and despicable actions in the later parts of their lives. How does a perfectly innocent and selfless child lose so badly inside their heart to grow to become a murderer? How does a child, loved by their parents, learn to hate freedom and justice and to seek out totalitarian ideologies to destroy the home and country that raised them?
    To realize that one day, you won't be you anymore. You will be the monster that you never learned to control.

    I learned this stuff the hard way, when I thought it was just a sign of madness that I spent so much time arguing with my self ... long, heated arguments that went on for days sometimes. It's kind of good to know, now, that I wasn't as alone then as I thought I was. It was never just me ... we _all_ have a difficult relationship with Life.

      Integrating the shadow means integrating it into your daily life. If you understand what lies in your shadow, you need to figure out how to meet its needs and desires in your life in a controlled manner, so that you feel fulfilled but you're not causing unneeded suffering to other people.

But there are things I have no idea what it's trying to say psychologically. I wonder if you will see this film and give us your thoughts and an explanation of what this film is trying to say. I think it'll be extremely interesting to hear your thoughts and interesting to see what you think? Thanks.

      A place to start: Imagine the most heinous thing that you could do and then imagine what it would take to cause you to do that. You can glamorize it at first, making yourself out to be in some way justified in your actions. But as you mature, you will begin to see that you and the very worst of humans are more alike than you are different.
      Eventually, you will *begin* to actually incorporate your shadow. This is dangerous, because it forces you to acknowledge the evil in you and actually allow it space in your conscious mind rather than laying in your subconscious. The idea is to balance it. A good person is not one who has buried their ability to do harm, but rather one who keeps this ability close at hand but chooses not to employ it unless needed.

    • @magnumdujardin7297
      @magnumdujardin7297 6 років тому

      @hehe hehe You have to imagine yourself in hypothetical situations. For example, when someone hurts me I have a tendency to sit at home and imagine that I am doing the worst things to them; hurting them, torturing them, destroying them psychologically... Take it as a sort of act where you project yourself into such an intense fantasy that you might as well say that it is real and there you will see just how disgusting you can be. Most of the time you can discover the nature of humanity through your own self. You hold all of it.

    Doesn't defining things as good and evil create a sort of disparity? What if the problem is just that? By creating these measurements of what is good and what is not, we induce an artificial suffering upon ourselves and others, instead of just accepting what we are both as an individual and as a species. The the shadow could be our simplest, primal form of consciousness and the "good" part of ourselves that is subject to the perception of external forces, such as society and culture is a phenomena created by said factors and other environmental things. The "good" side of us would be fake, and subject to change and thus unreliable. Maybe the destructive forces of the shadow are an effort to bring to light this disparity or dissonance within us.

    • @magnumdujardin7297
      @magnumdujardin7297 6 років тому

      But that's the curse of mankind; duality. The awareness of good and evil is what separates us from the things that cannot perceive that. But we mostly perceive it because the primal instinct can hurt us, like animals eat each other and we will each other and those are primal instincts which we can discern hurt us. We can't stay blind to pain, weve risen above that a very long time ago. You can accept that it's there and that might alleviate something but man has a need to survive and to strive and maybe that's how we got there, by survival we were brought up to philosophies and religious thought and psychology

      @@magnumdujardin7297 Humans are made up of savagery and intellect at the same time. We created civilizations based on moral and the collectivism of humans, and individuality is the price for it. But in the contemporary age of consumerism and political state idealism, it is important for us to regain the individuality in us. To do that, according to one of AOI's video on Jung, we should bring the ugly, unwanted despised part of us into consciousness, and mindfully accept that it is part of us. In order for us to function normally as part of society, to put up a Persona that acts morally and empathetically is of utmost importance. But then, again, we should realize that this "Persona" is just a small part of our personality and not to over-identify ourselves with it. We should accept that we have thoughts that spawn from immoral sides of our personality and bring it to consciousness that we are imperfect. By doing so, we complete ourselves spiritually, even the path to completion is endless and one can only go so far before one breathes one's last.

      Wild Strawberries It can confidently be said that “SJWs” resort to scapegoating tactics. I don’t see how that is a controversial idea in the least bit. That doesn’t mean they are the only ones who scapegoat, but only that they are an obvious example in today’s polarized world.

      Are the "SJWs" not blaming the straight white man (represented by the heteronormative white patriarchy) for the problems of minorities?

    • @91jubaku
      @91jubaku 6 років тому +12

      Yes, but it is not solely because of the straight white man, as the SJWs seem to claim. The straight white man is being singled out and made to bear all of the blame. That's why I say it seems like scapegoating. You can still scapegoat a group for actual injustices.

    • @91jubaku
      @91jubaku 6 років тому +12

      Wild Strawberries
      I'm not claiming sexuality has anything to do with it, I'm just parroting what I hear and read. In SJW circles it is almost never just the white man, it is almost always the straight white man. I assume they have reasons for including sexuality, pertaining to intersectionality I imagine.
      "The racist white teenager on 4chan has never been asked to accept the blame yet he feels like his race is being burdened with all the guilt."
      And why is that, you reckon? Could it have anything to do with the widespread anti-white media narrative, particularly of sites such as Vice? Or articles such as the one published in a Texas university newspaper under the title "Your DNA is an abomination", featuring a picture with the words "White is over! If you want it", the first sentence of the article being "Now I am become white, the destroyer of worlds."?
      I'm not claiming there isn't a problem, but there's a serious lack of nuance and critical thinking in the discussion of the problems. Whites should most certainly be helping alleviate the problem, but it is not solely their responsibility. The black communities have responsibilities to bear aswell, such as solving the absent father crisis, and the gang culture problem costing so many young black men their lives in the streets of cities like Chicago.
