  • In this episode of ‘Political Kisse’, the Editor of ‘The Lallantop’ Saurabh Dwivedi talks about the life-journey of the former President of India Giani Zail Singh and his relation with Indira Gandhi. Earlier, Zail Singh worked as a politician with the Indian National Congress Party, and held several ministerial posts including Home Minister, in the Union Cabinet. Zail Singh was also elected as a Congress Chief Minister of Punjab in the year 1972.
    Giani Zail Singh served as the seventh President of India from 1982 to 1987 which was marked by Operation Blue Star, the assassination of Indira Gandhi, and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Unfortunately, Giani Zail Singh met with an accident and died of injuries in 1994. He also served as the Secretary-General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1983 to 1986.
