  • In today's video I share what we will be using for our reading and spelling. I've been using this same curriculum since my oldest started Kindergarten and I love it. I did use something else for a year but went right back to this after not liking the other one. I forgot to mention that there is a teacher’s manual for handwriting, but I didn’t find it necessary. I hope this video is helpful in helping you to choose your Handwriting and Spelling Curriculum. If you think a new or veteran homeschool mom may benefit from the information I share in this video, please share it. Feel free to subscribe if you're new to my channel. Like and comment as well if you wish. I love being able to respond to other homeschool families. It's fun sharing tips with each other. #homeschooling #homeschoolmom #curriculum #homeschoolcurriculum #education #books #largefamily #spelling #handwriting

I already bought a Reason for Handwriting for my kids for next year. I love that it is focused on Scripture. We’ve done Memoria Press Traditional Spelling and will be trying Rod and Staff Spelling next year.

I’ve used a little Rod and Staff in the past but I never tried their spelling. I think I only used it for PreK because I liked how it helped with some fine motor skills due to lots of cutting and coloring.

I use Masterbooks for spelling out of the LLFLE. They give tips you can do in the back of book. I make mine last all week by..
1st day of the lesson =Pre-Test
2nd Day= Memory Game with spelling words
    3rd Day= Practice Test
4th Day= Spell words with letter Tiles
5th Day= Final Test on the words
For handwriting this year we just used random workbooks that I had but next year I plan to use the new handwriting curriculum from Masterbooks that is supposed to release this Summer. Going to do one more year at least of Manuscript before we do cursive. I feel like my son needs more with Manuscript before cursive.

I’m so bad at looking in the back of the book. We’ve just used Reason For for so long and it works that it’s definitely a preference. Plus with the ones that have struggled with reading sometimes the words can be a bit too advanced and frustrating for those kids. I may have to pay more attention to the back LLFLE in the future for my kids that haven’t struggled as much. Thanks for the info.

@@ThePocketFullofArrows your welcome. If you don't have it already Masterbooks has an app and you can always find tips and tricks on there or ask fellow Masterbooks moms for suggestions.
