Art is magical. I live in Istanbul, another, far away part of the world, and i love you, your art and the way you think, the way you list 🙃. I feel i am not alone
Love all these ideas! I have a few additional favs: From life drawing class - make 1, 2,5,& 10 minute sketches, but as life drawing models aren't always available, I draw my supplies, or sketch little still lifes, changing my viewing angle with each sketch. From a very young artist who I once babysat - take a stack of copy paper and an ordinary writing pencil and draw as many things as fast as you can, drawing whatever you see or imagine. Then pick out your favourites and draw those again, this time spending as much time as you like. I also, to avoid that procrastination thing, often sketch or doodle ideas mid-yoga, or while sipping my tea. No pressure to produce the "great work" if I'm just taking a minute out to sketch an idea, or try a different viewpoint of a subject. These "mindless" sketches often seem to channel an inner muse, and have led to some of my favourite pieces. Whatever way we find that works, we all need to permit ourselves that childlike abandon to play. Off to find a stack of copy paper and the stub of a pencil! And I hope the light and love of each of your muses shines upon you, dances in your peripheral vision, and whispers gentle encouragement in your ear. Thank you again, Wendy, for sharing from your saucer. There is art in your words, as well as in your hands and heart.❤️
Very helpful Wendy - loads of top tips. Thank you 🙏. I found that often, after fully preparing my space, I struggle with a deep reluctance to start. Then I discovered the Mel Robbins countdown which interrupts the overthinking brain - “5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO” - and helps me get going right at that crucial moment. I’m fine once I get started 😛. Have a great week 💕
You inspire me so much. I’ve never taken an art class, but I’ve had a love affair with creating my entire life. My creativity gets buried in the stress of life. However I always return. I’m turning 53 this year and I’m making space for my creativity and growing as a creator, it’s my time. You are a light that I’m so grateful for! I just adore you and I love what you create. Your brilliant and magical 💕
What a wonderful share! Thank You. I am a pen & ink illustrator currently working on a large book (50 illustrations) and have stalled to a complete stop. It's like trying to walk through quicksand just getting into my studio - and my studios are both in my home! LOL This video really reminded me of so many different ways I can change up my work approach and re-vitalize my mood. Thank You! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Yes, it's hard creating under pressure, you don't mention whether there's a deadline schedule but it sounds like you need a brain reframe! You got this!!! xx
Hi, CM Ralph, I love and collect children's books, so much of the illustration is really beautiful. I will be ordering Willow Mouse, as it seems like a wonderful story graced by your artwork. Please push on with your present project! I wish you every success with it, and I hope it will be published soon. Be well. 🙏💕
This was very helpful! I sometimes get stuck in that awkward place between "fear of failure" and "fear of success." And then I have to force myself to remember that fear is just (false) (evidence) (appearing) (real). It might be an introvert thing, but I am working on being my powerful self. Thanks for helping, Wendy!
I found this very useful, especially the part about warm ups. A large wall or similar isn’t practical in my small home; however, I had a lightbulb moment. My daughter left behind some window markers and I have patio doors. They are the perfect space for a warm up and can be wiped clean afterwards, so I don’t use up precious paper and get clean windows at the same time. Another idea would be wallpaper lining paper taped to said patio doors. I’m off to dust off those markers.
This came at just the right time..my art has been getting very tight. I'm a portrait artist first and foremost and my style is very neat and precise. When I'm in between portrait commissions I like to paint something much more loose and free and I've been having a blast painting a pair of hands in a much looser style. Thanks for the reminder that it's good to stay loose in our art!
You are so inspiring and uplifting. Thank you. I live in a mountain valley in Montana USA and the skies are full of smoke from wildfire. It's like a dome from a sci fi film. It's very confining and pressing down on you. Listening to you about loosening up and being free brings me peace. Thank you again for your insight. Much love.
These kind of videos are never enough, you've read my mind, Wendy, I've recently watched your old video about art warm ups, so it's very convenient to have here another of those 🎨🧡👌🏻😊 thank you for making these videos, I very appreciative it, there's so much effort - filming, editing...etc. I keep you in my mind, Wendy! 🙏🧡😌
Oh dear! I haven't even known that You created this video and have been watching some others, while being in the point of rigidness and stress. And just seeing and listening to You helped. You're a beautiful human container for curiosity, joy and freedom.
It did make me smile when you said you put notes on black boards or even write on the wall, before we decorated I used to do this all the time, it drove my hubby mad 😡, house is now sorted but there are a couple of places we haven’t got to which still have notes and the messages do prompt strong memories now and then 🤣
I have purchased many of the supplies you have mentioned, I love how you combine multiple mediums in your painting, as someone without formal training I love how you combine all the different mediums I have learned a lot from you! I can’t be the only one ordering all your favorite supplies they should give you free supplies! Thanks a bunch for everything you share! I love artists
I just wanted to say… I adore you. Thank you for sharing your bright cheery and sweet voice with us. You brighten my day. ✨☀️🙌🏻🥰 take care… and big hugs. -Laura
Thank you for this video. I need to remember that I'm important enough to take the time to do exercises (be it physical or artistic). Like so many women I put myself last. It takes energy to overcome that feeling.
What a treasure you are! xx Listening to you is like listening to someone (literally) speaking my language. I live with someone for whom none of this would ever make sense, so this video is so liberating and engaging for me! xx
This Video is an absolute gem. The struggle is real, I just gotta loosen up. Thank you for doing what you do and being who you are, I often watch your videos for inspiration ❤
What a wonderful video, thank you. A reminder that being kind and non-judgemental to yourself is incredibly important. It's funny how the universe guides us to reminders like this one when we're feeling a little bit flat and off our game! Thanks again :)
Love that you intertwined life/painting advice... Because if you're a creative we really can't seperate the two. Just found your channel and am binge watching! ❤️
Wendy!!! You are full of magic! Great video....I'm fascinated by 'looseness' and art that looks 'unfinished'. Thanks for helping me on my art journey. So delighted I've found your channel.
You really hit the nail on the head for me when you said “I try not to get caught up in the scroll scroll comparison on Instagram“. I find myself doing that way too much. And I do it on UA-cam as well. There are many inspirational artists on Instagram and UA-cam, but I have found myself doing that comparison thing too often which is not good for my art process. Thank you for that reminder. I need to draw inspiration from other places that are more inspired by nature and what’s inside me. As always, thank you so much for sharing. You always brighten my day.
@Megan Burbick, I started Art in June of 2022, now I’m at a place where I can draw a recognisable face. The way I did this and keep loose is like you said , I don’t compare as I’m a unique individual let “ art “ flow through me. I draw with my eyes close, draw with my left foot, left hand anything in keeping it unique and totally me. Pinterest and UA-cam my go to for inspiration.
I have that issue with work at times too where sometimes I'm not in the mood. Yes, inspiration is important. Not to mean we copy but take influence from others work.
Thanks Wendy. I was really needing a "pep talk" today. Have health challenges so I don't do as much art as I would like. Keep the positivity coming! Roz in Northern California
When dealing with health challenges, remember you can sometimes do art in your mind, even when your body or energy isn't cooperating. Wishing you healing and strength.
About a month ago i was googling "how to loosen up in your art" and desperately have been searching something that applied to me, with really no luck (unfortunately google did not bring up your video). I Came across you yesterday on Patreon and i love what i see, so i joined. I was watching a Patreon video and UA-cam recommended this video, and i feel like finding you was the answer to my prayers! This is exactly what i needed, but not only this video, so far the other videos ive watched of yours...well, lets just say i don't believe you crossing my path was an accident. I havent felt very inspired in a very long time, and most of what i am struggling with is paralyzing fear, thats just plain and simple the root of my struggles when it comes to art right now, and it wasnt always like this for me! I discovered mixed media and art journaling about 12 years ago, and fell in love! And back then, i was so filled with joy, so free, so inspired, so excited, so unafraid etc when it came to my art. I did not struggle with all of this FEAR that is basically paralyzing me right now! And its so many of the things ive heard you address so far...I am so thankful i found you! Thank you for doing what you do
Oh wow Wendy... I totally related to and appreciated this video so much! Thank you, thank you! 95% of what you shared about your processes for loosening up are things that I've done for myself for years, however for the past couple of months I have failed to do any of these! ☹ Unlike you I don't make lists or define what it is that I do to get my mojo running. Hearing you define all of these things that are so important to keep the flow was exactly what I needed today! And thank you for some new-to-me loosening up exercises! Watching this video, and having you spell out and remind me of how important warm-up exercises are, was exactly the tonic my soul needed today!💫 I can't tell you how much this has giving me the impetus to snap out of it and go into my art space and do one, two, maybe three of these different warm-ups that you have suggested! A huge thank you for sharing all of this with all of us! 🥰 You are much appreciated and loved Wonderful Wendy! 💚Sending a huge Mahalo and plenty of Aloha across the many miles!🥰💞💫🌈🌺🙋♀️
Hi Wendy. Iv just got back home after a few days holiday in Glastonbury. 💫🧙♀️🌈🧚♀️💗Passed by your studio and I gave you a wave 👋. After a rest and refilling my cup with positive energies I am starting to feel inspired after watching your video. 💕🎨🖌I have a small shed in my garden under a really old Hornbeam tree 🌳. I have moved my art journaling things to my shed but felt that I have hit a brick wall. I haven't created in my shed yet 😟. I have lots of ideas and I have even made my own Art Journal, just need to get started. So thank you so much for sharing your video 🙏. Lots of advice and tips to get me started 😊 . Have a lovely creative week Wendy and everyone ✍🎨🖌⚘🪴💫
So much wonderfully valuable tips on unwinding and settling in, as I’ve gotten older my senses seem to be turned up, I need softer clothing, coziness, candles, and feel the need to create the ambience before I can create..which I’ve been away from for far too long. Seeing things for the first time in the second chapter of life is a wonderful experience each time ✨🤍✨
Thank you Wendy darling 😘 I feel like I have just come away with a precious gift from you that I will always use and treasure thanks for sharing your beautiful awsome spirit. Your studio is very beautiful 🥰💜😘
Wendy, this is by far the best advice I’ve had in loosening up. I’m usually tense when I put my first few layers on a painting. So many useful suggestions. Thank you so much! 💖
Good reminders to loosen up, enjoy what you're doing, and be relaxed. I enjoyed taking the time to do a short art session in my daily journal while listening 💕 🎨🖌️☕🌹
I’m so excited to have found your channel and still catching up on the many videos you’ve made. One thing I always notice is your beautiful “artist outfits”!
One of my absolute favorite videos of yours. I have a tendency to be really tight with my work and it can be frustrating when you're developing skills, learning a new medium, and/or don't have the technical ability. I've asked people in the past how to loosen up, but they couldn't really explain it. You actually gave practical techniques to try out and I look forward to incorporating some of these into my own warm-ups. Thank you for this because I think loosening up your art is one of those things that's just not easy (for most people) to explain. 🥰 I will definitely be revisiting this video from time to time.
I’m so glad I found your channel today ❤your so calm I love your teaching I like Art it helps you express yourself and being loose, calms helps mind and body.
Wonderful video! I just did a 5 day "Breadcrumbs" challenge course by Nicholas Wilton where the whole focus was getting us back into our art, so this is very timely. I love your tips and tricks. Also, I absolutely LOVE the painting against the wall next to where your paint tubes are hung. I see so much in there, if you were thinking it wasnn't finished, it looks perfectly beautiful just the way it is. 😍😍😍 I know I'm a week behind in videos, but that's how ut goes, ha ha!! See you in the next one!
This is such good advice! Warm up exercises are always worth the few minutes it takes to get in a good frame of mind to work. Thanks also for pointing out that there's a difference between accuracy and detail! Loosening up helps make one brush stroke carry a full load of expression and descriptive power. We're bookmarking this video to watch on a stressful day!
Wendy, I've been without my painting tools, except for watercolor for about6 weeks because of moving from one place to another. You've inspired me to keep on keeping on with the pencils and sketchbook sans acrylic. I used some posca pens but have not used them much to create. One thing I tried was to use my watercolors directly from the tubes to paint with. that really helped. thank you for your many ideas for inspiration and motivation. love your style and energy.
Thank you ..one of the most inspirating videos..I am moving to a new space after 40 years ..so it's new everything ..throwing out the old ..starting new ..it is scary but exciting..thank you for being a friend over long distance ..spring is calling here in South Africa 🇿🇦
Drawing with a stick and other items is quite interesting. I’ve drawn with ink using small scraps of rusty metal. The ink I brush on the metal and then draw in little scratches on finger paint paper. That paper holds the ink on the surface for a minute, allowing me to draw lines and textures. Both by scratching, stamping and dragging the metal across the paper. The roughness of the rust gives surprisingly interesting patterns.
This is the first time I’ve watched this video! Thank you so much! Musicians always warm up….why did I never think about this before?!? What a great way to have started my day! Beautiful😊
INSPIRING!such good reminders and some new perspectives! As others have said: this is a keeper to seen again and again, this was my second time! Blessed and safe days!
You are such a joy! !! I haven’t done any painting in some time... I really need to get back to it... Think I’m the Grandma Moses of Junque Journaling!!! But always loved painting as well.. Guess I need to haul out my inner Grandma Moses of painting!! 😻👩🏻🦰💜
I’m so pleased you mentioned Wyanne! I have been following her for a couple of years now and love her use of bold colours. She has had to overcome a lot, the lady’s an inspiration!
Gratitude and appreciation for this collection of various tools and tips to get over whatever hump, bump or crossroad we are facing to live life creatively. Whether on paper or canvas, or whatever the creative muse nudges us ahead towards. Peace and well-being to all of us.
I love the beautiful blue glow on the butterfly wings you painted on the picture behind you in this video. They are gorgeous. I don't know how you got them to look like they glow, but they are mesmerising😍😊🦋
❤❤❤Thank you so much for sharing from your saucer! Such great insight! Yes! I’m inspired! I’m a creative mess! I want to create from a space of joy & love! Bless your ❤!
I really enjoyed this video. So inspiring, and so many useful tips. Watching your videos over the years, I feel like I have an artist friend who encourages me to keep going when things get stuck. 😊
Such a timely chat, Wendy! Just started 2 weeks holidays and already I am putting pressure on myself to get in my studio and create. I get hung up on the thinking that "Quick! GET IN THERE! You don't want to waste a minute!" So already I am procrastinating thinking anything I do HAS to be brilliant so that awful fear of not making "great" art gets in the way of play. I have so many ideas for artworks but actually starting something..anything, seems such a hurdle. I love your simple tip of just jumping in, dipping in and doing a little something before tackling the big things 🙏 Going to grab a coffee and go there now, splash some ink around and see where it leads 😁 Blessings, Wendy, great video 👍
I did the mistake of not seeing the video as soon as it was out this week .. and got into some deep depression puddle.. This one of the many times, in the years I've been your subscriber, that your words have touched me and got me out of the dark mind space.. You are a gift, you have a gift. Please keep doing what you do. Thanks for being you and putting yourself out there for others to get inspired. (I do not draw or paint, but I like arty things.. Just wanted to say that, to get inspired to live on and see the beauty of it all, don't have to be from the same group..) Love you Wendy.💙💙🙏🙏
Dearest Sucheta, I hope you are coming out of your dark hole 😙😙🫖softest hugs Beauty and loved this comment, so true that we can all come together and it doesn’t matter if we are different, because of course, we are meant to be 😙♥️😙♥️🎈🎈🎈
I’m not an artist but so many ideas you presented can be useful for any creative process. I’m a quilter and knitter. I have to be in the right frame of mind before starting my time in my studio.
Thank you Wendy - sharing your wisdom and authenticity is so generous. Referencing my previous artist statements helps me loosen up 🎩🙏 e.g. why am I creating - my inner purpose.
Absolutely loved this video. Your suggestions all make so much sense and I look forward to the part two. Wishing you both a good weekend. It’s going to be one of much reflection for some of us I’m in no doubt. Blessings to you both🙏🙂
Hello from France ! Thank you for this very inspiring video ! I can't wait to see the next one because I'm about to paint again and I'm starting to gather all the stuff I have and I draw to put myself "in the good mood" and train my hand and my imagination again. Big thank you !
So much authenticity it's contagious and inspiring! Thank you 🙂 Really great content and tips and reminders for picking back up the paint brush 🖌️🎨👩🎨🌸❤️✌️
This was an awesome video!!! Thank you so much for all great suggestions. It was truly inspirational!! I needed this because I tend to be so tight with my art. I just love everything you shared, and I will put them all into practice. Thank you so, so, so much!!! Have a wonderful creative relaxing, free, dancing, fairy week. 🧚♀️🧚♂️
Awesome video with so many ideas. Ive just made a small tray with a lid and put together a small sketch pad and a few pens. Its living under my bed and at night i have 20 mins of just writing things down or doing some sketching. jotting down worries or writing out a quote that inspires me. So if ive had a busy day at work i still get to make some art and clear my mind. Thanks
Very good points. I like to feel comfortable, relaxed and try to get into the mood. I like to do warm ups myself. Really helps to get into the art feel. Thank you for sharing this.
I am very grateful for this video Wendy . Am going to keep rewatching, as lots of great points and while you where talking I had lots of moments of inspiration forming partially in my head . I will develop those ideas and am saving this to keep referring back to . Thank you 🙏
Art is magical. I live in Istanbul, another, far away part of the world, and i love you, your art and the way you think, the way you list 🙃. I feel i am not alone
You are definitely not alone, xxx thank you for liking my lists!!!

Have a lovely creative week Wendy and everyone ✍🎨🖌⚘🪴💫
awww!!!! best of luck starting your little shed sounds perfect!! xxxx I hope to have one one day soon!!!!
An affirming video. And just letting go and approach like a child would pretty soon the painting starts to talk to me ❤️
Wendy, this is by far the best advice I’ve had in loosening up. I’m usually tense when I put my first few layers on a painting. So many useful suggestions. Thank you so much! 💖
Glad it was helpful flower xx happy loose painting ✨✨🫶🏼😙♥️
Good reminders to loosen up, enjoy what you're doing, and be relaxed. I enjoyed taking the time to do a short art session in my daily journal while listening 💕 🎨🖌️☕🌹
awww lovely Sandra, thank you for keeping me company whiile you created! xxx
11:59 I really like the 12"^2 blue themed floral to the left of the red floral.
You're absolutely adorable!!! So is your artwork!!!❤😊
Wow Wendy 🥰😍🤩thanks for today so mutch fun and inspiration.hugs and fairydust.se you next week.💖💖💖💖💖
I’m so excited to have found your channel and still catching up on the many videos you’ve made. One thing I always notice is your beautiful “artist outfits”!
Love the early portrait. Your early work was awesome
Thank you, Wendy. This was a video like a TSUNAMI with good advices!
Loved your video and your gorgeous paintings! The butterflies and the vase of beautiful flowers sings to my heart! Thank You for sharing .😊😊❤❤🎨🎨
So much positive energy in this video! I was sipping my herbal tea and spinning yarn while i watched
I love when you making teaching videos like thus Wendy. You are a virtual professor of art/life at times for me. Thank you !
HellO therE WendY😄 Your ReallY such a beautiful fairy 🧚🏻♀️ yourself and Your a greaT teacher 💕💗💖😊
What a fab. video Wendy. Could have listened to you for hours. Your voice is so calming and you're so inspiring. Just loved it 😍
I’m so glad I found your channel today ❤your so calm I love your teaching I like Art it helps you express yourself and being loose, calms helps mind and body.
I am a lefty too. So, I like how you've set up your space.
I absolutely adore all your videos, but this was fun to listen to a chat about art and learn something new from you !! 💗
😊I absolutely loved this video! I was inspired to make my own list! You were exactly correct how difficult it can be to get started! Thank you!
I love this so much, makes me want to loosen up and just create from pure joy again as I did as a child. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Creative clutter I always called it. 🥰
Thank you ..one of the most inspirating videos..I am moving to a new space after 40 years ..so it's new everything ..throwing out the old ..starting new ..it is scary but exciting..thank you for being a friend over long distance ..spring is calling here in South Africa 🇿🇦
Have a wonderful week!
This video is SO good, perfect reminders and great tips. Thank you so much.
Beautiful😊
You're very welcome! Happy creating! In loose fashion!! xx
She is so wonderful yes, she's the reason I got into cute big eye girls all those years ago! Love her so much xxx
Gratitude and appreciation for this collection of various tools and tips to get over whatever hump, bump or crossroad we are facing to live life creatively. Whether on paper or canvas, or whatever the creative muse nudges us ahead towards. Peace and well-being to all of us.
Thank you!! Reminder for me and why I love watching you!!🌻🍃🍂🌾
Aww, I'm so glad! xxxx
Thanks for helping us get by the hardest part, starting.
Ty for all the great loosening up tips
I really enjoyed this video. So inspiring, and so many useful tips. Watching your videos over the years, I feel like I have an artist friend who encourages me to keep going when things get stuck. 😊
Brilliant! I've saved this one because there is so much great and inspiring material that I will certainly watch over and over!!! Thank you so much ❤🌹
Such a timely chat, Wendy!
Thank you for sharing your experience as an artist.
Simply wonderful. Saved in my 'Art' playlist. Thank you.
Just wanted to say that, to get inspired to live on and see the beauty of it all, don't have to be from the same group..)
Love you Wendy.💙💙🙏🙏
Dearest Sucheta, I hope you are coming out of your dark hole 😙😙🫖softest hugs Beauty and loved this comment, so true that we can all come together and it doesn’t matter if we are different, because of course, we are meant to be 😙♥️😙♥️🎈🎈🎈

27:52 I really enjoyed that page
I’m not an artist but so many ideas you presented can be useful for any creative process. I’m a quilter and knitter. I have to be in the right frame of mind before starting my time in my studio.
I totally agree Janet, creative process is the same for most... I wish I could knit!!! xxxx
Thank you! Sipping a cuppa chamomile tea & catching up on your videos! You're an inspiration! Big Hugs! :)
Oh Wendy, your advice and help is just so spot on Thankyou so so much
Thank you Wendy - sharing your wisdom and authenticity is so generous. Referencing my previous artist statements helps me loosen up 🎩🙏 e.g. why am I creating - my inner purpose.
Thank you for being such an inspiration! You are a beautiful sole!!❤
Great video Wendy thanks. I've had to put my art on hold for a few weeks while I move house, and country! This helped fill my temporary art void xx
Absolutely loved this video. Your suggestions all make so much sense and I look forward to the part two. Wishing you both a good weekend. It’s going to be one of much reflection for some of us I’m in no doubt. Blessings to you both🙏🙂
I absolutely love all your videos! But I have a soft spot for the more technical ones like this one! 🧡
thank you ! xxxx I love making these videos but I have to really feel it before I do... ! weird but true!
Hello from France ! Thank you for this very inspiring video ! I can't wait to see the next one because I'm about to paint again and I'm starting to gather all the stuff I have and I draw to put myself "in the good mood" and train my hand and my imagination again. Big thank you !
I sing to get all of the tense out and I like to look through my ideas as well.
So much authenticity it's contagious and inspiring! Thank you 🙂 Really great content and tips and reminders for picking back up the paint brush 🖌️🎨👩🎨🌸❤️✌️
This was such a helpful video. The tips you shared were great. Thanks Wendy. Looking forward to next week.
Thank you Wendy. I especially loved this video. Very helpful for my creative journey. You’re so sweet.
Hi Wendy, thank you so so much for sharing your loosening up ideas and tips! I tried your suggestions and they really helps me a lot!❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Always love your inspiration. Thank you Wendy
Terrific ideas and inspiration. Thank you!🌺🌺☺️🪷🪸⭐️🌼🌠🎆👍
I am very grateful for this video Wendy . Am going to keep rewatching, as lots of great points and while you where talking I had lots of moments of inspiration forming partially in my head . I will develop those ideas and am saving this to keep referring back to . Thank you 🙏
