Three of my all time favorite aircraft in the air together. It would have been perfection if the Corsair was still with you but this was magnificent. Looking forward to seeing the flight perform this summer. Cheers!
6:55 That’s due to perspective distortion I believe. Human vision varies but is roughly equivalent to 40mm lens in full frame. The light gathering of our eyes is also superior to most cameras. When we see things in focus in the distance that’s our brain using its super zoom and the optical focus point shifting, really it’s kind of a tunnel vision we employ.
Gorgeous...... When you're in the Hurricane, you want to be in the Spitfire....and when you're in the Spitfire you wanna be in the Hurricane! Wonderful Fighters. All three of them.
My gosh man, what a joy that must be! Just watching you step out of the Spitfire is amazing to me. I can't imagine what it must feel like. All the emotions! Great video & (you probably already know) The Brits invented the Circle to Land (Well it was actually an Aussie, but all the same) My Family were Ten Pound Poms & I've said too much already. Cheers, enjoyed that.
Hey Dave, great video thank you very much. Great to see you putting these up still as I appreciate they take time to edit etc. How would you normally land back at home base if you aren’t able to ‘run and break’? Would you bleed off the speed a different way and then do a standard join into downwind/crosswind? Thanks
Yes, it happens frequently at Gatineau which has a very busy flight school. We stooge around, flying easy 360s on a sort of wide base-leg. When ATC opens a gap in the traffic we pull up the nose, drop the gear and flaps, and carve in.
Hi Dave, I noticed the Magneto switches have been moved in the Spit, you may have already explained this before but where have they been moved to? thanks for doing these vids as well, cheers from Downunder!!
You're very welcome. The Mag switches are on the lower left portion of the panel. This is a late model Mk IX, and was restored that way as well. My WW2 manual for the Mk IX show the switches in the same place.
Hi Dave, how do we make contact? We are working with National Museum of the Royal Navy in the UK, I wondered if you can help us with some footage for 80th D-Day?
Ours has always had one, and they were stock AFAIK on the Mk IX. Not much use though -- by the time you saw an opponent in the mirror, chances are you'd already be shot.
If you’re inside one of those planes and you’re the pilots, I have something to say that I actually saw you just today flyover Gatineau and landing May 31 Friday 2024
From the opening shot, it’s just absolutely beautiful.

See my video of performing in an airshow in a Spitfire in formation with the Corsair. Thanks!
What a nice airplane indeed. And I'm just looking from the outside. Thank you very much Dave!
"what a nice airplane"... what an understatement ;-)

Amazing video ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I’ll see you at the Gatineau airshow 2024
Beautiful aircraft in this video. It must be a treat to fly these vintage planes. Some great shots of these beauties.........Take care, Bluefin.

I haven't noticed the rear view mirror on the Spitfire before. Is that a new addition?
And thanks for the wonderful experience.

Yes, that was us. Lots of training during the last month.
