  • I love Queen, which is why I never saw this film. But NOW I AM. I love their music, so I needed to sit down and check out it out. WARNING: I do have opinions, and sometimes those opinions won't conform with your own. If you disagree, please do so respectfully. And thanks for checking out my videos!

Note: Yes, I know the second part of the solo starts at G# and not G, but this take had my dog walking in frame and being adorable right as I needed to end it, so I went with that, folks.

Freddie knew how to play the piano in India, while he was studying.

The movie is very hollywood. The band had a say, but not entirely, there are scenes that did not happen. Especially the blow out about him doing solo work, he was not the first to go solo. There was no breakup and getting back together for live aid, they had just finished a tour several weeks before Live Aid. The audio for live aid scene was from the real recording.

Actually the rerelease was I think also because Bohemian Rhapsody became popular again thanks to the movie Wayne’s World. The BR movie didn’t really represent perfectly what really truly happened. They just added some fictional scenes to keep the drama going. Some of the timelines are not even accurate and Queen never broke up.

The film changes some facts and the timeline of the songs, but Freddie, at a certain period of time, was greatly influenced by Paul Prenter and this almost resulted in the end of the band. Now, if you really want to know the history of the band and their main music, you should watch the documentary "Queen: Days of Our Lives". It is the most complete and accurate documentary about Queen.

41:54 41:55 Queen-parties and Freddie's parties were legendary. They toned that (and Freddie's excesses) down a LOT, lol. It was the seventies and they were rich young Rockstars.

Freddie was actually the last to start a solo project I believe

So agree with you about this biopic. Saw in theater and found the story of Freddie oddly put him at blame for any strain on the band and his personal relationships. I guess they loosely illustrated the conditional support from his family, but all the discomfort with his sexuality felt totally forgiven by the text of the film. It seemed like he brought it upon himself and even his lover seemed to shame him in his lonesome role in society.
That was hard to shake in the theater but the music and excellent cinematography/music mimicry was worth the ticket. I read the director was pretty distant during shooting and the script was a bit of a cash in on the greatness already created by Queen. It's hard to disagree.
Had a great time listening to you take this one in. I appreciate your company and commentary. Thanks for the fun reaction video!

Well the whole thing was bogus anyway. Freddie was their roommate and joined the band when the lead singer quit. the whole scene with him meeting them in the parking lot and Roger making fun of his teeth and telling him he couldn't join because of them was made up.
The band didn't break up before Live Aid, and Freddie didn't have AIDS in 1985.
If they are going to lie about those things, I can't get worked up about all the little things they made up as well.

Thanks for your reaction. If you want to get more information about Freddie's solo project (and actual life period) and being the band member pls listen to this interview from 1985. ua-cam.com/video/IwsDTyrzc2E/v-deo.html
This is great, very honest and funny at the same time. I've learnt a lot about him by listening his interviews.

Freddie was no primadonna in the band. They were four very different and very strong personalities and fought a lot, but Freddie was more of a peacemaker, they all said so more than once. But it's true they needed one another to reach their full potential, even Freddie. Don't take the movie too seriously, it's historically inaccurate in many ways. I strongly suspect, Brian, although he did and does love Freddie, still has some unresolved jealousy. They're both legends, but Freddie always was the one people talked about and always will be.
