People who never got to see Brook Berringer play can't understand just how good he was. Tommie Frazier is arguably the greatest college QB of all time, but when he was injured and Brook stepped in, the offense didn't miss a beat. He wasn't as quick and agile as Tommie but he had the same great leadership and respect from his teammates. I'm not even a Huskers fan, but in the mid 90s I always watched the Nebraska game when they were on national TV.
The definition of a true man. I born in 83 so Berringer was a huge part of my life in the 90s. He was a tough and very unselfish man. He could have made a pretty good NFL QB. I think Berringer and Rex Burkhead have the biggest hearts in Nebraska or college football for that matter.
Great memories when I was growing up! Will always be one of the greats, not only because he stepped up and persevered when needed but because of his character and leadership. GBR
Hey there Mr. Osborne I'll do anything to play, and it sure would be an honor sir to call you coach someday. Two of the coaches of the teams I covered were the same age as Brook and played against him in HS. They were very sad when he was killed just like I was. Brook was a day older than the best friend I had was, both are gone.
