@@olinqua1 Brian knows what is coming here 😁........... It's a travesty to butcher and bully a diesel of any kind into the humble Standard Fordson! 😂 Standard Fordsons know how to behave in public with thier starting handle antics. No matter how perfect they behave at home, they know when to act up on you. But with gentle persuasion, a wire brush and appropriate spanner and experience, they'll be nice. Nothing draws a crowd that a man on a starting handle trying to persuade a spark ignition engine into life. Diesels just fire up without character.
Another great video thanks, I learned a lot. Really looking forward to next weeks video ( I could see you filming in the background of the fenland's video so know we have got a really good video coming)
6,000 within 6 months! even with modern machinery and processes I very much doubt any company could match that these days. Brilliant video once again :)
Thank you very much for tonight’s content. I think whatever tractor brand allegiance you might have , we all have a fondness for the Fordson brand as being so influential in mechanising British and foreign farms . I’m in the process of restoring my great grandfathers 1943 standard that is in a shocking state . You wouldn’t bother with it if it wasn’t a family tractor 😆 first tractor in our small village on Exmoor , North Devon.
Fascinating video - thanks for sharing. I would love to see the follow-up video covering the Major and Dexter. I drove an old 1959 Major back in the late 60s and 70s, and I loved it. I passed my tractor driving test in it when I was 16. Happy New Year to you and yours
Super video as ever. It looks a bit like a VW 1.6 diesel engine? Oh, and the standard must be in real trouble of The Fenland Crusader couldnt get it running 😂 Thanks for all the brilliant content throughout the year. Happy New Year to all at Casterton Vintage. Alan
Compliments of the Season from down under (NZ)!🎉 Thank you for the great selection of videos over the past year and I won't be the only one looking forward to what you have for 2025!! In the meantime, I'm looking forward to your next weeks video with "The Fenland Cruisader"!
Thanks for your support. Where is the best place to find out about tractor working events in NZ. I might be there soon and it would be good to take in a bit of vintage tractor action.
I'm a member of the Horowhenua Vintage Machinery club and we get regular updates from other clubs around the country. The NZ Vintage Machinery club would be worth contacting along with the Edandale Vintage Machinery club which holds one of the biggest events at the end of January each year ( the "Edandale Crankup")
No, we hold it about every four years. Other clubs have a turn in the other years. I'll think it's the Manawatu Vintage Machinery clubs turn in 2025, I'll have to check
Another great video as always 👍 we recently had a talk by Alan Condie at our vintage club meeting tracing the history of Fordson tractors 👌 one of our local club members has a fantastic collection of Ns think he has one from each colour era 👍 looking forward to seeing your video from Steves farm next week 👍 Wishing you and all your family a Happy Healthy New Year 🏴🕛
After watching your videos for a bit I have decided I really like the Fordsons looks. I don't why, and I definitely couldn't defend my position in a debate. One day, however, I would love to own one. Don't know how common there are in the states though.
Another great video. I think - the mystery engine might be a Perkins MDI as fitted to Austin Rover Meastro's and Montego's, I have always been pretty much against diesel conversions but lately I've been thinking about a Perkins 4 108 for my troublesome Allis WC!
Like the video very much but harvest gold was introduced in 1937 along with the first oil bath air cleaner and harvest gold continued until late 1940 when green became the war time livery.
Thanks for this update. Making a video like this highlights how much the information differs. There are a number of points where I wasn't sure who was correct.
😊😊 alot of those old tractors 🚜 😮 haven't any work done on them ever since they were new and left the factory many years ago they are worn out and need 2 be rebuilt the engine magneto and the carb other wise they won't run 😮😮 and most tractor magnetos don't like water or getting wet either it shorts them out no spark most people use a plastic milk gugg and cut them 2 fit they magneto has 2 stay dry 😊😊 IVE heard of this be 4 and it's not uncommon 2 hear about it's just the way they are 😮😮 OMG 12 29 2O24
This video alone is enough to earn you an MBE Brian!
You know how much I adore a tvo Fordson, especially the F&N!
Glad you enjoyed it.
@@09amusement everyone bangs on about the P6 (which is a superb motor) but I love the sound & smell of the TVO 👌🏽👌🏽

Thanks. I see you had a harvest weekend at the beginning of Feb last year. Is there one this year?

There should be plenty to choose from in the states.
Thanks for a very interesting video with great clips. Happy New year to you and look forward to many more of your excellent videos in 2025.
Happy new year! Thank you.
Thank you for the amazing video. Really enjoyed it and a happy new year to you 😀

with a worm drive back axle does it mean you can't push them? ratio depending you can't back-drive worm gears
Good video i like the story even if they don't go I've got 5 of them gluten for punishment 😅👍
We love them really 😊
They say the Fordson can't be towed due to the worm gear final drive? What's the story on this?
It's not strictly true. Watch my next video.

I think you meant 1848 for the potato famine ?
I certainly did mean 1848. Sorry about that.
@ no problem, great vids, love them
