    I've paused the video. I've only just learned this Bard's name, but I'm telling you now that an NPC Nard the Bard is going to feature in my game tonight.

      Hopefully he’s more competent than this Nard… Or maybe it’s better if he isn’t!

    I love it, putting the min in minmaxing. And the idea Nard would actually make it to level 20 is hilarious.

    I like this video
    I grow weary of being told how to build the best [x] class and that if I don't do that exactly, then I am wrong and killing the fun of the game.
    As a thought exercise, it pretty fun to think of how to do things the worst way possible, and yet within the rules.
    I bet it would be kind of fun to play Nard actually, if it was in the right style of campaign.

      I'm glad you like it, I think making powerful builds can be fun but there are definitely some folks who treat it as the only way to play. So this is a fun inverse of that! I agree that Nard would actually be kind of fun to play, but probably only for a session! I think it might get old after that.

    you made me love this character you are giving DMs and annoying players like me a lot to torture players with.
    this reminds of the time I made a grung paladin with nothing but touch support spells and fully covered in armor besides their hands, I'm still waiting to play as d'eesn'uts: the worst support character ever.

    • @TheBardsCollegeYT

      May d’eesn’uts bring his enemies pain, and his party members even worse! I’m sure they and Nard would get along!

    I half expected this to be a 10-second video in which you said, "The worst bard you can play is the one that you don't have fun playing with your friends at the D&D table"

    Now make a dark knight named Cecil that has to put up with this spoony bard.

      Maybe Cecil the Paladin will be the next bad build!

      I have a poll up to determine the next one, last time I checked Paladin was winning! So we’ll see!

    Exceptional video! A masterclass in optimization. It was interesting to see what concessions you had to make with ability scores (all those odd scores made my heart hurt, but that's the point). In the same vein, it was sad to see just how decent at skills he became by the end of the video. Jack of All Trades really is good! It might be marginally "worse" to take expertise in INT skills instead, as they can come up less often. At the very least I'd take Religion over Insight!

    • @TheBardsCollegeYT
      @TheBardsCollegeYT  3 дні тому

      I think you make a good point, Insight really should’ve been left to the wayside for some Religion or History. And Jack of All Trades really made him better than I was expecting, if I do this again with other classes I think we can get some much lower scores!

    ...and still be more effective than a 2014 Monk or Ranger. Interestingly - you may have invented a Scholar /Librarian Class - if you look at how the bonuses add up.

      If I ever do a “making the worst Ranger” video, I’ll just be reading the PHB

    I will also be stealing the name of Nard the bard.

    Elemental Adept x5.
    I would go V. Human for Spell Sniper (Bard) for the lowest amount of stats (+1, +1) & no additional Spell since Bards don't get attack cantrips.
    Also, I would go even further for with Honor & Sanity Scores & put all the points into them. 9 points in HON/SAN/DEX & 1 point in everything else except STR, with 2 points.
    This only works in 2014.
    2024: Go for Origin Feat: Savage Attacker. All five feats go towards: Martial Adept (2014), Dungeon Delver (2014), Magic Initiate (Wizard, Druid, Cleric). This doesn't increase any ability scores. But you are more resistant to traps. Call it luck. Martial Adept could be Lunging Strike, which is a Bonus Action Dash, & Precision Attack, which on a miss, you can add the die (& still possibly miss.)

      I definitely should’ve explored Variant Human more, I think if I did it again I’d put more time into considering useless feats. I like your options for 2024, too! Thanks for sharing!

      @@TheBardsCollegeYT I love these kinds of builds. I tried using your criteria with a PHB14 Bard & feats. Eldritch Adept for Thief of Five Fates is pretty useless, but Eldritch Adept was a Tasha feat.

    • @TheBardsCollegeYT
      @TheBardsCollegeYT  2 дні тому

      That would be a great feat to take! I think Eyes of the Rune Keeper might be even better though - at least Bane might help every now and again, reading words is exploration-only, and Comprehend Languages already lets him do something similar. Honestly, warlock would be fun to do one of these builds for!

    Do Bards get Wish? If they do this is 100% the correct 9th level spell to pick, because if you cast Wish you become enfeebled and worthless and you have a chance to lose it forever.
    Even if you intentionally don't use it on bad things you can use it on arbitrary good things, for example if you are stuck trying to open a door you cast it to open the door and nothing else. Make him cast as soon as he is able to which is almost always a suboptimal time to use it.
    Eventually he will lose it and if there is a down time period of only 2 weeks where the players are not adventuring for a few days, if he keeps casting it for instant gratification of immediate problems, he has a 90.5% chance of losing his only 9th level spell during that down time.

      @TheBardsCollegeYT  3 дні тому +1

      I do like this Wish tech! Unfortunately they don’t get it in the base class PHB options, but maybe in another book? If I do this with other classes I’ll have to keep it in mind!

    • @TheBardsCollegeYT

      That is interesting, but it does rely on “using it in the worst way possible.” Where as I think when you have access to every spell in the game, taking a cantrip or first level is better than Wish. But I can see the argument for the weariness and chance of losing it to make it worth it! It’s a cool thought!
