Thanks bro for doing all these videos. I’m going to purchase some assembled 4-1/2 in flywheels which claim to be prebalanced for cast pistons but I’d at least like to check that. This is going in a 72 shovel which your videos helped me build. In 100 years people will still be watching these videos working on old iron. Thanks.
You are a real artisan as shown by the quality and focus you put into your builds. I was just wondering what balance factor you would use for a 45 ci WLA build for running down modern highways at continuous hi speed?
you can already buy 160hp+ crate motors now that are air cold and work just fine. harley will never make a good motor because they are way to cheap and have crappy engineers. tatro
@@TatroMachine 200 hp is possible....back in the 80's Buddy Parrot (Nascar crewchief) put his normally aspirated one on a dyno but he never would share his specs....wouldn't even tell his son....another nascar crewchief.
I would be more interested in how you calculated, how much weight to use? Is that weight balanced so that it is the same, no matter which way it is installed? Are you using the same weight for all pistons, rods, wrist pins, and clips?
all that is in other videos. watch the 650cc race motor build or one of the others. they should be but the real world is not always that way. i mark everything and assemble it the same every time so that i have repeatability in my jobs. i have standardized weight for common jobs and applications to save time. for other jobs or something different i do a full custom weight for the application. tatro

60% is a good starting point. adding lead is better than drilling lots of big holes.

balancing a fly wheel is not for the faint hearted...
truing is worse.

We'll be amazed at the HP and torque we'll be able to get out of a Harley engine when they're ALL water cooled.

i like what you did man .........

@@TatroMachine hi when bal crank do you put bobweight for one rod or all. thanks don
Darn interesting. When you have to add weight, do you use Mallory metal ?
no, i like lead. i can do more with it.
tatro
Roger that. thanks for the feedback.
What is a balance factor for sportster ironhead 1000 (70's) ? I need to balance mine for .040 pistons.
it doent matter. harley used something in the mid to high 50's as far as i can tell.
tatro
Hi the weight you use is that half of the weight of the rods pistons etc ?
watch the videos. that would be a 50% balance factor.
tatro
Tatro Machine heard about ballance factor is it easy to explain ? If so can you do a vidio Reguards Daz
