Now I want to go watch your son's channel! Thanks again for creating beautiful art that is accessible to me to try and paint... AND have fun in the process!! I was just in Portugal last year and agree, is beautiful. So, off I go to paint old walls! 🙏💕
Controlling the water amount is really an issue. Paper is wet, median wet or dry and the brush is wet, median wet or dry. There are 9 combinations (3x3=9), and it is really hard to choose one out of the nine condtions especially when in plein air painting. I am still struggling in sovling this problem. By the way, I made a brush by sticking four chinese brushes just like your favorite brush! Thank you again!@@watercoloronlinemsolovyev
Really enjoyed this one, Michael. I am in Portugal and want to paint the waves…trying to find your tutorial. Your son is a carbon copy of his daddy! Thank you for all you do to make watercolour fun. Catherine from Ottawa…KAC
Your painting transported me back to Portugal, where I vacationed last year and was fascinated with the little narrow alleys, rustic apartment houses, and of course, electric wires, running around all directions. The way you splash water, lift color to create texture, use limited number of ingredient colors inspires me. Thank you.

I like the gray tones of your paintings, the subtle colors you use, the streets you paint, and the state of your paintings the most. You reflect the texture of the watercolors perfectly. Thank you for sharing, 👍!
Wow it’s really fun to learn from legends like you.. you make it look so simple.. alas when a novice like me tries only to realise I have made a disaster😂.. going to give it a shot.. thank you, please keep sharing your demos..
I also like Portugal very much. This painting presents the style of a small town and it is so beautiful! Thank you for such a great watercolor demonstration video, which really benefited a lot.
Thanks for the interest! You can check the video description for more information. The brushes can be found here, on my website: www.watercoloronline.com/watercolorbrushes
Obrigado
When doing watercolor painting is it best to start and finish in one sitting? Or is it also ok to break it up like drawing one day, first wash next day. Then finish up another day? Etc?
Thank you Brian! Personally, I prefer to work in one go. Always. But! If you need adjustments of want to fix something, you can wet the back of the sheet again and continue.
Interesting tutorial. I'm kinda confused. 🧐 Adding color to white? Intrusive isn't it? The background is no longer white. I do love the blotches/splatters of paint technique. That's cool. And it's a unobtrusive way to add color and interest without overwhelming the white subject of the painting. Okay, maybe I'm over analysing. The color is shadows/shade. I'll observe and learn now. 🤗
What a charming duo, father-son! a handsome, talented boy like his father? what is his name and how old? Telepathy, because I was thinking about whether you have any young talents in the family. Well done to you, son. 👨🏼🎨😘 ChilanVo
Beautiful painting! I love the textures and marks that watercolours make by themselves, they can really add more to the vibrance of a painting than if you tried to do that manually
Could you please tell me the name of the Pen you use After putting the colors to give thé shapes and at the end the Penci to give shadows.,sorry for m'y english
I really love your painting and you give great instruction!! Pardon me for suggesting this but the music is very distracting during the painting process. At times it actually drowns out your voice. I watch so that I may learn to paint in this style but the music might be best for the very beginning or the end but not during. Your son is a handsome boy. Thanks again for sharing your skills!
А еще - special thanks for the amazing jazz & bossa nova rhythms, my friend!!!

Nice watercolor, where could you buy the three brushes used? Thank you
Hi, you can find brushes and all other materials on my website: www.watercoloronline.com/

Is the back of the paper wet for this one?
Yes :)
Such beautiful work. What wide brush are you using for the wash. I looked on your site, but wasn’t sure which one it was?
Hi, Kim. That would be a flat 5 lines brush: www.watercoloronline.com/product-page/flat-5-lines-brush

Dear Darnelle! Everything is relative and up to interpretation, including the color white.
Thank you for sharing! May I ask what the small detail brush you used is?
Hi, Michele. It was my Solo White Travel Brush: www.watercoloronline.com/product-page/solo-white-travel-brush
