    Algavision has just sent me an email with the last 4 years of their picks. They claim a winning percentage of 61%. Sounds good in theory, but a majority of their picks are heavy favorite moneyline winners that generally need about a 65%+ winning percentage to break even.
    I'm glad they sent over the data, but I'd need to see unit size and odds for each that would tell me if they're actually winning long term or not.

      @@ramblingsofamathwoman6773 For the scammers yes thats true, they dont use any software whatsoever, they just throw a bunch of picks which usually are stolen from another one claiming to use a software etc. But machine learning is indeed used to predict sport results, thats actually how the odds are generated in the first place. And this is the reason why odds are so accurate nowadays. But I completely understand what you are saying, I just pointed out that if they said machine learning would be equally exciting and confusing for normal people but would also in a sense use the right term on what an actual algorithm would do to predict sport results.

    • @jayinthebx
      @jayinthebx 2 роки тому +1

      True betting is hard and unpredictable, espcially nfl speads. Daily fantasy is a little bit more controllable. As far as player patterns. Like home and road splits and last few games, and versus this defense how this player usually plays, etc....

    • @telesilla
      @telesilla 2 роки тому

      For sure! How many times do we see experts confidently make predictions before a game or a season only for the exact opposite to happen? All anyone has to do is look at last year’s NL West predictions vs the reality to see that. Anything involving individual human beings is going to be unpredictable often enough for an algorithm to fail.

      True but there is an average line. Also that’s why in statistics there is something called margin of error to try and account for for unknown variables. Sports is nothing but statistics, if what you’re saying is compelling true then analytics would never be a thing. You gotta come one both being able to understand analytics, the sport and the possible unknown variables to do descent enough that you can win descent money.
      My nba knowledge alone, for the first time to actually putting money on sports, I turned $100 to $15k from the 2nd round of the playoffs and on.
      It’s not impossible to come up with a tested algorithm, but it will be very hard and it won’t be always going to work. It doesn’t mean it’s impossible but for these clowns who wont even know the first thing about statistics, logic and algorithm it would be impossible for them to even come up with one that can a correct prediction.
      I’m working on my own algorithm using my sports knowledge, math, analytical skills combined with my programming degree and I plan to test it out through machine learning and thousands of data…. But unlike these bozos, I’m not going to share it until I’ve made what I wanted from it and then sell it, not as a guru but the algorithm to everyone and let them try to make the money themselves.

    6:39 It goes back to 1971? Pff, that's not impressive. Everyone knows algorithms peaked 2 500 years ago. "Our system dates back to Kroton, Southern Italy 500 BCE when the Pythagoreans discovered it after staring at the sun for five hours. The algorithm was so beautiful and perfect nine out of ten Pythagoreans became insane while the tenth became vegan. It was later discovered by the Greek merchant Gamblerodenes who used it to make a fortune betting on the Olympic games as seen here. - actual footage, not dramatic reenactment, of Gamblerodenes in ecstatic joy while naked men wrestle in the arena because we're so wealthy we have our own time machine - The algorithm was forgotten due to good old fashioned corruption being the quicker and more efficient way of amassing wealth. Now in this digital age we herald its comeback and want you to be a part of it. How does it work? It's all Greek. Join now!"

    If there was ever a person as great as these gurus claim to be, all they would have to do is post 'yesterdays picks and wins' for a month.
    Of course there 'wins' would have to also match all the people paying for the picks... And we all know that ain't happening.

    • @jimipet
      @jimipet 2 роки тому

      People must understand that the odds are reflecting all the collecting knowledge about the game. Even in a crazy scenario where someone indeed have an edge, by announcing that to an audience, the heavy backing will drop the odds in a point which is not profitable anymore. So the matter is whoever gets the advantage first. Of course this advantage is taken by pro traders/scalpers/market makers and their bots all the time, they quickly get to any event that they believe there is a slight advantage, forcing the odds to go quickly to the optimal point. So there is no any advantage left for any lunatic thinking they are pro sports bettors because they watch the games or because they are doing some excel analysis.

    Algorithms do exist that let professional bettors make money in the long run. They simply automate the process of finding value bets by comparing the odds of sports exchanges (sharps) with the odds of bookmakers (softs).

    • @jimipet
      @jimipet 2 роки тому

      What you are describing is just a program who finds an arbitrage opportunity. Of course they do exist predicting algorithms for the sports event, how do you think the sharps on the sport exchanges know what are the right odds to buy or sell? They do compete until they reach in an optimum price where no-one wants to buy or sell anymore as there is no advantage, until new information is presented.

    Notice the angle of the shot that films the money. "If you Google fake Hollywood money", then look at images, you will see that the part on the bill that declares that it is fake is at the top of the front face. Notice that that part never shown to the camera, even when he has it in his hat. This is a good tip for spotting fake currency in these ads. Thank you, Spencer, or the great content, you're one of a very few youtubers that I watch absolutely everything you make.
