- Across the pond in the US, Colorado is becoming the first state in 50 years to ban ‘fat-phobia’ by law. It got us talking about the times we have fallen victim to ‘fat-phobia’ ourselves. Linda recalls her weight being scrutinised in the papers during her time on ‘Birds of a Feather’, and even having people commenting on it to her face in the street. Coleen acknowledges she is actually fat-phobic to herself, and admits there are certain clothes she wouldn’t dream to wear with her figure, even though she knows she should be celebrating her body.

What about people who are shamed for being skinny? Are they protected for discrimination by this law?
I’ve been the victim of skinny shaming.
That can be just as dangerous, it sad.
For certain jobs you need to be fit and not carry massive excessive weight.
yeah that's clearly not what they're talking about
I would never dare comment on anyone’s body or appearance but there is no disputing that obesity is rampant among our society and this nicey nicey attitude and fear of the “F” word is a huge part of the problem. People need to accept that they need to take accountability for their weight and get real.
That’s funny because Colorado is one of the thinnest states in the US.
It's just so rude to make insulting comments on appearance. I think making it illegal is a step too far as where will it end, but then again how hard is it to be kind?
Why are all the comment sections open except for when they were roasting Russell brand??
My mother started it and I was size 12. Society doesn’t like us.
This shows the absurdity of modern times.:) It is not possible to solve all problems with law. Moreover, animals and children naturally fear objects more significant than themselves. By the way, I love all shapes and sizes.♡:)
Colorado is a very healthy state so there won't be much of an issue.

Why do people even care what others think about them? Seriously
Because we are humans and humans have emotions
Haha yes so true! I like that response. It's also because we're social animals and we rely on each other, we're not tigers.. or whatever animal is alone.. lol
Many people are insecure about themselves so they change into bullies as a way of making others feel less worthy so that they feel better about themselves. Others are just awful people who care less about a person’s feelings except when it’s them on the receiving end of the insult.
Age brings an ability to not give a flying whatnot anymore.
You cared enough to make this comment lol
