Heartless took all the tropes I hate and made me love them as well. How? Why? I don't know but I love it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Bloom is definitely on my tbr, as are a few of these other books. a favourite of last year was Shark Heart.
I read Bloom as my first book of 2024 because of your recommandation and I looooved it ! That ending !! And my favorite books of the year were Honey and Spice, A Certain Hunger and The Past Housewife ✨📖

Writing? Competent.
Wasn't expecting the heinous gore, sadism, torture, awfulness near the end. I know it was horror but damn. It ruin cottagecore, farmers markets, soaps, and cupcakes for me probably forever

I read Bloom after seeing you review it! It ended up being in my top 5 of the year and was my favorite horror of the year!
Since you mentioned short story collections in the beginning I highly recommend Sparrow Hill Road by Seanan McGuire. I think it’s perfect for wayward children fans but so different. It deals with a crossroads hitchhiking ghost named Rose

Many books on this list that I own yet still haven’t gotten to, in spite of being sure that I’m gonna love them (Ninth House, Emily Wilde, Silver Under Nightfall, Heartless). I also need to catch up on the Wayward Children series.
I bought Butcher & Blackbird and Bloom on your recommendation and really want to get to them soon.
Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher, The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty and Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake were a few of my absolute favorites of 2023. Obsessed with T. Kingfisher and definitely want to read more of her books this year!
I took you serious when you talked about the mind fuck series back in 2021😂😂 and I basically got as obsessed as you are. The old covers were so bad that it was hilarious. But I'm definitely buying that physical copy now cause it's stunning

There's a nonfiction called it came from the closet that's an anthology of queer authors talking about horror films/monsters as queer characters and I think you might like it. A real breakdown and analysis of horror films through a queer lens.

I loved Ninth House the year I read it, and Lost in the Moment and Found is easily my favorite of the prequels! Emily Wilde has been on so many people's favorites list, I'm hoping to finally reading it this year!
My favorite book of 2023 was easily Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe

My favorite was Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries!!
I am so hesitant to read Emily Wilde because I read another one of that author's books and disliked it but I might as well because I have the ebook lol
Also I'm so hyped to read The Mindf* ck series this year. Wish I had that gorg edition instead of the super ugly ones
