to put my opinion on the kaiju situation is not only years ago but irrelevant at the time. in the technical term (as arin loves to abide by) he is a kaiju. but to the general idea of what a kaiju is, grape ape doesn’t fit the description. sadly it’s exactly like the nevahda/nevada argument. he wins on technicalities which i’m sure is his favourite way to win. arin is my hero

I can say 1. You guys have never woken me up from your loud moments. And 2. I don't think its an equalizer you applied that reduces the loud moments but actually what's called a limiter.
there's probably a limiter involved, but not as what makes the volume so nice; limiters only prevent audio from going beyond a certain level. if it was a single effect applied it'd be closest to a compressor (lessens the volume on loud parts but increases the volume of quiet parts) but, as background noise in quiet parts doesn't get louder, i'd be almost certain that's not the case and they just apply some sort of dynamic normalization (normalization isn't really an effect, it just make everything louder so that the loudest bit is the properly loudest part [playing at 100% volume]. dynamic normalizers [i'm not sure if it's the actual term but it's accurate] do that but instead of looking at all the audio at once, it looks at smaller chunks so that all 'loud' parts are the same volume)
