David is a friend of mine. Great drummer. I promise you that with these behind you, you are part of a juggernaut but with superb harmonics and dynamics. Absolutely outstanding.
I’m lucky enough to own one of these kits and I can actually own another jalapeño kit as well! They’re so well made! Sound lovely and really are enjoyable to play!
Superb drums and playing. Another honest, exacting review. I would buy these and I think that they offer an artisan product at a very reasonable price. Thank you DR and I'll continue to look forward to your reviews.
It's great that people make custom built drums and are passionate about their work. Nothing remarkable in looks or sound for me, but I'm sure he'll have no trouble selling his products.
Roy Beckerman Probably because the bar holding the ride is so thin. That’s a lot of weight for such a thin support. Give this to a “crash the ride” player like Brad Wilk or Travis Barker and you’ll have a cymbal on the ground.
The kit sounds great, which is obviously the most important factor. I kind of dig the finish, inlay, and the lugs, but that font and those giant plaques are almost unforgivably awful. I'm a fan of the built in cymbal holder on the kick. I've got one on my 18" Ludwig classic maple kick drum using an atlas mount, and I love it despite the wobble.
Only improvement I would've made is using a DW cymbal arm rather than the gibraltar, The DW one is solid, though having said that, the original cymbal arm on my 1976 Ludwig kit hardly wobbles at all (With a heavy 22" ride on it too), and its not dissimilar in tube size etc from that gibraltar one, so I have no idea what was making it do that.
I abandoned all "vintage" hardware. It's rubbish. My 1979 ludwigs had a mix of wrench-adjust L arms and wobbly stands. Replace all that with tama titan and it was a whole new kit.
Jalapeño...like the pepper? Are these drums made from the wood of the vine they’re grown on? Joking aside, they do sound great. As an AZ resident, I just can’t get past the name.😂😂
Chih Wei Yang I recently bought an Aquarian coated head for my floor Tom. There was some overtone, but two small strips of duct tape and I like it as much as Evans or Remo coated heads and way more than the dead sounding clear pinstripe that just wouldn’t tune. I hate using tape, but once in awhile it’s needed. And I think these drums sound good.
I loved it so much, I bought this kit. Dave very kindly delivered it today. On my eldest daughter's 30th birthday.

That ride stand really swings!
Man that ride stand really wanted to dance along with the music!
Very nice kit! I really like the 20" kick. Great video as always. Oh, and the overhead view is much better.
I never knew about Jalapeño Drums before, but man this kit really made a good first impression for me.. 👍
Where have I been, In the last 20 years? I have never heard of this company before.
Fantastic sounding drums!
I’ve never heard of these, but my, they sound very good.
Why is his ride cymbal stand so wabbly

A bit muddy sounding, but it may be the coated heads don't suit those shells.
Try Remo Ambassdor Coated, Aquarian always kill the shell's tone
