So a general summary for warlock exotics: "meh."
a general summary of Warlocks: meh
harry53831
Basically.
lol no warlocks are the best class for PvP again
+david trejo By comparing all three class and all of their subclass ... Warlock is more of a tank than the Titan ... Striker and Defender is more of a support while that overkill 3 void orb toss Voidwalker and that damn grenadier Sunsinger is more Tank ... Sunbreaker is now the new Tank but in total ... Warlock is the deadly for PVP but I'm still with the Gunslinger's effect
Andrew Nguyen
I find it interesting that at launch, warlock was often spoken of as being the "support class", some people even going as far as to compare it to a "healer class." Yet when the game launched defender, the supposed tank class, offered more support. I'm kinda interested in seeing what Bungie does with sunsinger cause to be honest, it doesn't feel like packs as much of a punch as the other support classes.
I personally liked Alchemists rainments because I use Tlaloc and having orbs regenerate my abilities was great. But in the recent iron banner I received a 312 chest piece and then Alchemists seemed useless, so next exotic I had in mind was Impossible machines, because I had it on hand. But an exotic that encourages using your super paired with Tlaloc is stupid. Ironically when farming for exotics a few days before I got Nothing Manacles Loved them in year one was going to be my main but words of the nerf got to me, but now I use it because of a new chest piece and complements my primary.
For Sunsingers who hold their super for resurrect, the Raiment uses orbs that would otherwise disappear on death. It might not be as efficient, but with a full super, without the Raiment, those orbs are going to literal nothing. Wasted.
For us stormcallers it gives us transcendence immediately. I love it, it does its job and allows us to hold more heavy ammo!
I would love it though if the "Iron to Gold" perk would have a chance to pick up heavy ammo from primary bricks. Heavy ammo is a much better gold than glimmer
+Jacob Wheeler another thing that the orbs picked up when super is full armors is that it lets you use the effects on your helmet when you want or need them even with full super rather than just when your super is down but other than that i wish the iron to gold proc'd on all ammo types and maybe gave a little more glimmer
+Jacob Wheeler Do orbs disappear even if you resurrect? I thought they only disappeared if you wiped. If that's true, that's pretty useful.
+omegaxtrigun Yes, they dissapear even if you resurrect. The moment you die, the orbs are gone.
Nice datto, I was looking for a reason to start using my warlock more and this video actually helps me out. Great vid great info keep it up
don't the undying mind majors on the staircase NOT give glimmer to prevent farming?
+Christopher C That's true, which is something I was sure Datto already knew, but apparently not.
+Christopher C They don't count for Major kills, either. Thanks, Bungo.
+Christopher C yeah but the chest piece gives you glimmer from primary ammo and not more glimmer from enemies so I doesn't matter where you test it
Whether they do or not is irrelevant, the glimmer bonus only applies to ammo pickups and only getting an extra 8 glimmer is pathetic.
That is true but that doesn't matter at all when discussing the utility of Alchemist's Raiment. Alchemist's Raiment has the chance to give you glimmer when you pick up primary ammo; it has nothing to do with kills.
The impossible machines should be 5. As a warlock main getting it a 3 is an insult.
+Mega Bakufun Opinions, to each their own, get the idea?
Samta Klaus I'm talking facts.
You seem to be full of yourself, as always.
Samta Klaus Who isn't?
Some people.
Hello Datto, Thanks for uploading this video, When you were using the Heart Of The Praxic Fire you didn't have full discipline, As for myself in PvP i can throw 12-14 grenades with my Radiance activated, And also i get my melee 2-4 times if i wasn't using an intellect and discipline build only, Keep up the amazing videos coming! :D
hey datto nice work. Better than the bias titan video because you showed game play try doing this in more exotic reviews
Almost at half a million sub Datto! Congrats!!!
No offense but I'm pretty shocked at some of the categories you've handed out here. It's pretty easy to tell that you don't main a Warlock.
He mains a Titan
+SMNSWPS His Titan ratings were very debatable. I think he made many flawed comments in the Titan rating. Only problem is everyone comes to the rescue saying its an opinion as if opinions cant be wrong. Whatever he managed to rile up Warlocks too so I'll be waiting for the Hunter one so I can get a good laugh.
i dont agree with some of his opinions, especially since he has a bias against warlocks, but most people do just because he is a popular figure in the Destiny community
Rafael Zamora i dont agree with some of his opinions, especially since he has a bias against warlocks, but most people do just because he is a popular figure in the Destiny community
SMNSWPS
I honestly think he is bias with everything that is not of his liking. I can hear it when he is in the PlanetDestiny podcast. He may not blow it up but I think it plays with him a bit. That is just my though who knows maybe he is not.
(8:52) so happy I bought the Skull when Xur sold it. Very useful for shutting down enemy supers in 6v6 or getting a nova bomb off in dangerous situations. Not quite as good as nothing manacles or obsidian mind, but still a lot of fun
Datto can you do a rating on all the supers like this video?
And/or nades
Do it on classes in general
+UltraMix good idea
yea
Great Idea dude, I love the way you think! 👏
Great video Datto, keep up the good work.
Alchemist Raiment and Tlaloc are good combo together to keep your grenades and melee charged while also having your gun be amazing. I personally use this combo on Stromcaller despite the super being very good (also works for the perk that gives you health and increased duration when activated while having full grenade and melee energy)
Starfire Protocol also grants you extra heavy ammo capacity. Just like boots did in Y1. Since it's one of the only armors left that does this, I thought it was worth mentioning. Gives them a little extra worth.
Datto, you should rethink the Alchemist Raiment in terms of how nicely they pair with the Tlaloc and a Sunsinger. Since you're not using your super in order to keep the gun at it's max power, and to save your res, it's really nice to get something out of all those orbs.
i run 3 warlocks
for pvp i'll use the voidfang vestments (it's probably the only current warlock exotic which particularly feels special) or light beyond nemesis if needed in trials
however i almost always use alchemist raiments for pve - i like the versatility of being able to change special or heavy ammo on the fly (without needing two separate pieces of armour - i generally need either sniper, machine gun or rocket ammo buffs - so depending on the scenario i can double stack or mix my armour buffs appropriately each time, along with my boot armour buffs - 25 black spindle shots is pretty useful for warpriest and golgoroth too) - it also provides more ammo for swords which other armours don't do and as mentioned by other people, sunsinger warlocks don't tend to need orbs to stick around as the only time they activate their super is when they die or the team wipe - so gaining back melees and grenades seems like a really good perk to have
the glimmer perk is crappy - but it doesn't even matter - the overall versatility of AR is worth it's exotic slot
for me it's easily my favourite pve exotic - giving it a 1/1.5 seems ridiculous considering you're trying to help people out with this list
i feel like alchemist rainment deserves a higher score, especially for sunsingers in the raid. you never use your super until you die and res then all the orbs are gone anyways so using them to recharge your melee and grenades is pretty solid. also if you are using the raid helm which has "take that" which gives you bonus damage to taken when picking up an orb. also having and all special and all heavy ammo bonus is awesome cause you can use anything you want and have extra ammo for that
So orbs disappear after you die? I wouldnt know this because I dont die
+Adam Jones he means when the team wipes
+Uriel Valles no he means when you die
+Adam Jones K.
Adam Jones im glad you never die you tell cool stories
Love these tier lists Datto
I play sunsinger warlock in PVP with Starfire Protocol when I play rumble. It gets a 5 star rating for me. Mainly because none of the other exotics seem very helpful, and the damage over time can be selected instead of the double grenades to help with melee attacks :)
You should do a review on each of the three subclasses on all of the classes, like you did for this, but for each subclass.
Claws of Ahamkara + Monte Carlo + maxed strength + extended thunderstrike range = a very deadly close quarters build
*long range build :P
+Tropius yh ikr #warlocksnipermaele
+Ss Edits The range is ridiciulous :D It's so fcking high. I main a Warlock btw ;)
Add in a shotgun with 'close and/or personal' and id be pretty scared
+epve 2000 I'm a main 310 hunter but I went on my 307 warlock because I got killed my thunderstrike and u was like ummm wtf is a 1000 yard stare in his hands ?????
make a video comparing the new grenades with the new subclasses to the other grenades in the subclass, with recommendations on whether or not to use them
Coming from a warlock main I love the alchemists raiment in pvp with the tlaloc the bonus grenade and melee energy is great when your supers up and tlaloc is OP, I know it may be the only time it's good but still.
Alchemist's Raiment is awesome when you are a self-revive Sunsinger. If you use it with an helm with Infusion/Better already you keep regenerate your life, grenades and melee. My main exotic in HM Oryx as a Sunsinger.
litt;e known fact of the praxic fire, they buff song of flames for even faster grenade cooldowns for your allies. Everyone using fireborn or the rare radiant skin, but I feel that that is a cool perk when used correctly with your fireteam
In Trials, use the stag with stormcaller. Ive found it most proficient there. You should be using it with electrostatic mind along with a high intellect build.
To be honest starfire protocol with touch of flame and Vikings funeral in PvE is pretty good. I used it when I went up against the oryx challenge and I mainly use it in kings fall. It was my first exotic EVER I got from xur to do crotas end back in January of 2015. Always used it sense.
Like others have said, your voice on Titans is fine since it's clear that you main one but for the other subclasses there's some things that most who main them wouldn't agree with you on.
That being said the Alchemist Rainment are understandably odd at first but when you realize they're focused for a PvP (or even PvE if you'd like) Stormcaller it should change your opinion. So here's the situation; you're running stormcaller with Trancendence, full Intellect and Discipline. Your melees don't come as often but you see an orb and it expedites the process and you now have a longer lasting super ready to go. Quite useful and better than waiting around for close to a minute for your melee to charge. Time is precious in PvP after all.
I don't want to dispute them all but the other one I had a slight gripe with was the Heart of the Praxic Fire. If you use the Firebolt, Viking Funeral, Gift of the Sun combo with Radiant Skin to be used offensively it can work wonders. Even if your super is about to run out you can get away with a charged grenade at the end of it because of the reduced cooldown.
Datto! The majors on the the stairs of the undying mind strike do not count as majors (in order to discourage farming) This is probably why you got so little glimmer
I really like the Starfire Protocol in PVE. I don't play PVP very often and only with my hunter so I can't judge for that but in PVE 2 Fusion Grenades with Touch of Flame can melt bosses almost as fast as Year 1 Gjallarhorn.
Great video!
I have The STAG, the Alchemist's Raiment, the Ram, the obsidian mind, and the impossible machines. What should I use?
1. The alchemists rainment is really good on a tlaloc build, as when orbs are collected with a full super they charge grenades and melee
Apotheosis veil can be good for storm caller cause if you have transcendence makes it last longer and when you use your super you get all the abilities back
alchemist raiment does have one niche, its very easy to always activate transcendence with stormcallers, which is considerable, so maybe a 3 in a category?
I think the solar chest and praxic are underrated. especially if the solar chest stacks with the perk.
can't wait for the hunter one, we have a lot of good ones for pvp but none really for pve, but I'm def missing some so idk
Hey datto, i have apotheosis and i did some testing with transcendence in the stormcaller class. Turns out that apotheosis does actually trigger transcendence but should you be using anything in that tree anyway?
Was heart of the praxic fire buffed at all lately? I've had people tell me it reduces ability cooldown more than before, but I don't have it to test myself.
Heart of praxic fire and starfire protocol are a both a 2, makes sense!
With alchemist's raiment it is very much about preference. I like using it with Tlaloc when I'm with friends cause they like to use supers a lot. So I'd personally have given it a 3.5-4. But if you prefer using your super more often then yeah it would get a lower score
While watching this I had the idea of apotheosis veil recharging melee and grenade charges so wouldn't it be half decent for storm caller with transcendence (the perk that let's it last longer if you have full grenade and melee charge)? Curious to know if that works with it
Not to hate, but The Stag can be pretty good for Trials. Sure, it's very specific and rellies on your teamates dying, but it can be very good! LAst week we faced against a team in which one of them was using it. We killed his 2 teamates very fast and took some time to kill the Stag user. He managed to get a kill at the end of the round and the 1st round ended with 30seconds on the clock. Round 2 came, he got a kill after his teamates died once again and he had a Nova bomb by then with just 2 kills! I mean seriously, it's effects are great! If you're helping carrying some weaker friends to the Lighthouse it can do wonders!
The Raiment orb eating thing is good for Self Rez warlocks because it recharges firebolt grenades and flame shield melees while not hurting you by taking orbs away because once you die and rez you lose all the orbs created anyway. It should only be used with that subclass though.
Praxic fire should have the same special/heavy perk as Starfire and Raiments to make it better. Datto, you're still undervaluing the extra heavy and special choice since there are NO legendaries that do the same. This allows you to prioritize your sniper ammo in fights like the Warpriest and Golgoroth or your heavy in other places and still use your highest light level gear (remember not everyone runs the hard mode 3x every week like you do and has a large gear selection). The Raiments are probably THE exotic to use in the raid because it allows you to regain health from orbs while holding your super if you have a helmet with infusion or better already, so you can stay alive and use your super to do something like draw aggro from the Echo during the Oryx fight and self-rez if he kills you, or you can throw more grenades for adds and ogre control, always a good thing.
I find the list to be really accurate. Thank you
You can buy skull of dire aha karma in the blueprints since the December update
Don't even play destiny anymore but I still watch about 5 seconds of these videos just help datto out
Obsidian mind and bad juju plus a full intellect build in mayhem is so amazingly powerful, like I'm not even kidding when I say that you get your super so quickly that way and can basically rip apart all other supers with this build in mayhem anything
*Slow clap* A fucking 2 for heart of the praxic fire. Comedy gold.
Of course if he used it with a really low amout of discipline it doesn't work, but I use it with a level 4 discipline and I can throw almost two times the grenades that I would throw with a normal radiance... And 5 for voidfang vestments in trials? There are armor pieces like the ram or nothing manacles that are way better than them even in elimination
Because it really isn't very good
That's because it sucks lol.
Charlie Bartlett It's the best sunsinger exotic in pvp. Extra cooldown for scorch and firebolt and a boost to speed are very helpful.
+Axl The Blessed
High rating in trials because being revived or self reviving counts as spawning and a new life. so basically everytime someone with voidfang gets revived they have another nade ready immediately. And ram takes sort of a back seat for trials because the armor bonus no longer works on sunsingers.
Did anyone else see the typo at 3:56? Datto wrote that the nothing manacles got a, and I quote" 2- All PvP activities, 3-3.5 - All PvP activities
Do another exotic tear list for all classes much needed update!
Datto, did you notice that glimmer farming has been reduced in wipe zones? I think that before this was adjusted it didn't matter where you were in any mission or area, any glimmer producing item or perk would do its thing. But I've been experimenting, and it seems that glimmer farming methods only work 100% in non-wipe zones. Once you're in a wipe-zone, glimmer doesn't fall the same way, even when using a wax idol or ether seed. It seemed like the mission you did to test the glimmer production from the Alchemist Raiment was in a wipe-zone, so maybe you should try it in just a regular patrol setting to see if there's any difference. Just my experience on the glimmer farming subject.
Datto, can you please do something with True Vanguard, you guys are both super knowledgable about destiny
the extra ammo on starfire (heavy/special) is worth a lot more then any other lock exotic right now in PVE
what about if you're a sunsinger what would be the best exotic piece of armor
If you were to choose an exotic for Sunsinger PVE what would it be
Which upgrade do you use on Bad Juju? Mine only hits for 24.
I go a year one skull of dire ahamkara from an exotic engrams on my hunter just before the April up date with an engrams I got just before hand
Would transcendence activate with apothotheosis veil? Since it replenishes energy?
When you did the nothing manacles rating. It said PvP twice. But I enjoyed the video.☺
@DattoDoesDestiny The stag is way better than you think. It is incredible in the trials of Osiris giving you an insane boost against the other team. I use the stag while my other two teammates use fast res gear and when I'm last guardian standing I generally get a super 3-4 times a game. I want you to consider that me playing a sun singer warlock getting 3-4 supers a game is way more viable then you think. If you can hold your own in trials this is a god tier helmet. Thanks for reading my opinion, love the channel.
Why when i throw a axion bolt grenade and my oponent jump and the bolt hit him, at the air, the damage isn't 112 and it is 6? Someone could tell me please?
I think the having 2 fusion grenades AND the option for more heavy or special from the Starfire Protocol in PVE should definitely warrant a higher rating... The special/heavy ammo bonus definitely seems to have been missed in this review...?
O Mind is a 5 in PvE not a 2, you just need to know when to use it. If done right you can insta-recharge your super. although it sucks in PvP
Datto, I honestly think that you have to reconsider your stance on the Alchemist's Raiment. Almost all sunsingers use self-res radiance, and almost all of them don't use their super until they have died (including me). Since we have to die before using our super, those orbs from our previous life go unused (unless we had to refill our super during the life, which is a one-time thing). Alchemist's Raiment makes it so that we can actually use those orbs that will disappear anyways. Not just that, but we get both our grenade and melee back, which you pointed out are both very strong.
Please look back at these for pvp and pve.
I love using the veil with radiant skin in trials or rumble because if someone is rushing you because you are weak you can pop it and get a kill right away
I like how the Ram triggers Lifesteal even if you have no melee charge. It seriously means any Voidwalker melee.
so guessing you didn't read that you need to pick up a primary ammo drop to gain glimmer with raiment. also doesn't work if you have full primary ammo as you don't pick up the ammo drop. secondly the enemies you fought are the type that doesn't usually drop ammo often either.
I love Alchemist's Raiment in the raid. My Quillum's Terminus has extended mag so that + the chest armor and I can carry a ton of heavy which really comes in handy. I don't use my super a lot too much compared to the titans and hunters, so they are making orbs that I'm using to fill my grenades and melee. I would have definitely given it a higher raid rating.
I'm pretty sure it only gives glimmer on primary ammo pickups, not heavy.
+Roman Mendo Perrin he never said anything about picking up heavy ammo from primaries. He said he can carry more heavy ammo. And its heavy ammo perk works on everything. Sleeper stimulant can carry 12 rounds with it
Dude alchemist rainments (sp) are great when you need your Meele or grenade to become fully charged while in stormtrancer
Datto, I got a skull of dire ahamkara from an engram recently
I'm confused. Look at the Heart of the Praxic Fire screen. The character has Praxic Fire and Claws of Ahamkara on. They're both exotics. How is that possible.
Edit : It's also shown on the Starfire Protocol and Voidfang Vestments screen too.
In alchemists Raiment defense. It could me part of a tlaloc set up because your actually using the orbs instead of them being nothing... Just a side note
What Suros Scout Rifle are you using in some of those clips?
Just a little typo, but you have PvP listed twice for the nothing manacle section
BTW viking funeral was phantom buffed so that might be why firebolt grenade DoT build is still good.
Just watched my first datto does dinner and im dying lol @dattodoesdestiny
What is the name of that really cool sniper that got a double headshot
Alchemist's raiment is actually very good for raids.
For example: at oryx, run self res, standing on a plate. Running sleeper simulant. Throw a grenade/2 at ogre, then after that jump up into Titan bubbles and instantly get Granades back for the vessel. 12 sleeper shots for the shade is beautiful and if you lose anyone from the fire team, you can still wreck oryx. If used properly, it's a top tier exotic, still bad for glimmer farming though.
Reached 317, yet to do Oryx challenge mode and hopefully get a helmet!
i play as an aggresive radient skin warlock and the apotheosis veil is my favourite piece i choose it over the ram because when someone is rushing you they probably wond be able to headshot you
Dattodoesdestiny the undying mind scene don't give u glimmer from killing the hallowed vex
THANK YOU DATTO
At some points there seems to be a cap on Glimmer being earned, so at some point it just stops...
I feel like you've underestimated the stag in PvP (mainly rumble). With the bad spawns and fast paced action of rumble the stag is very useful with its overshield bonus upon respawn, I've survived many encounters with the overshield bonus and it lasts a good 15 seconds, sadly the other bonus is pretty lackluster and the stag will only give you a CHANCE of an overshield, but I'd give it a solid 3-4 out of 5 in rumble
Bruh I love your sass lmao"So that's a 1, across all categories. They look nice though."
I recommend the ram for sunsinger
The point of Praxic Fire is not the amount of grenades you can throw per Radiance, but rather the reduction in how long it takes between grenade throws while using Radiance. Datto says he doesn't feel any different when wearing these robes, but as someone who mains Warlock, I can tell you that I notice the difference immensely when wearing these as opposed to not having them. Those fractions of seconds you save in between grenade throws in PvP can make the difference between killing someone and dying yourself. These are an easy 4 in PvP for me.
At 3:48 he just pushed that guys head and he died lolololo
Have to disagree on the Alchemist Rainments. As a Sunsinger Warlock, orbs are mostly wasted. You don't pop your super often and you get super back pretty fast even without orbs (assuming high intellect, which most people run).
That means that you are sitting on your super. A lot. Pair this chest piece with Tlaloc and other armor pieces which grant extra grenade and melee energy on orb pickup and you have a monster Sunsinger build for pretty much any activity.
Datto, that section of Undying Mind gives you no glimmer because Bungo didn't want farming. I'm not trying to say the Raiments are great, but they can get you good glimmer I'm assuming on ACTUAL majors.
which armor does he wear in the vid besides the exotics?
I've gotten two skulls back on my Xbox 360 character. never used them back then because I play hunter mainly and certainly don't use them now that I'm in PS4
which would be best for sunslinger?
I think that in 3v3 PvP, Alchemist's Raiment should be higher rated, BUT only for stormcaller warlocks with transcendence. You can see the benefit it brings, since when a round is over, or when you die, orbs are lost if your super is full. however, this allows for transcendence to be much more quickly used, as both melee and grenade is made. However, for other subclasses I agree it is very bad.
I pulled skull of dire ahamkara last week from exotic engram
I know that titans are good with full intellect and discipline, but can someone help me with the hunter and warlock? I don't know how to make a good build on them
Apotheosis vail is really nice for storm callers in PVP. Has saved my ass more than once when I panic super
Why not just have transcendence with is 20m times better than apotheosis because the veil takes time to regen your health, unlike transcendence where it regens it INSTANTLY
