  • I continue exploring the Lesser Antilles with Grenada, the Spice Isle. Crazy driving, lush tropical beaches, an estate and abandoned airport.

    The Grenadian breakfast - that food you called biscuits is called bakes. Also that black insect is called congaree (millipeded)

    The guy with the machete is going about his business. You are not his concerns. Nothing to be afraid of. Only in America people are taught to be afraid of everyone including their own shadow

      The guy with the cutlass doesn't have it for self defence. He is going about his business doing his agricultural work. We here in Grenada we are used to people carrying about their agricultural tools to do their work and there is nothing to be afraid about. He will not attack you.

    I enjoyed your video. It just popped up out of nowhere lol. I got to see my home since I am in North America. The machete is used in farming home so the guy you saw were coming from a farm with produce. I understand how that could be terrifying if you don’t know and don’t live there. The machete is called a cutlass in Grenada. We don’t consider the mongoose as timid lol just in case it has rabies. I don’t think there’s many but they run and people let them just in case the one you encounter has rabies.

    Correction: No2 Grenada was Carib (Amerindian) territory, then French, then British, then French, then British, then Sovreign state

    How did you manage without air conditioning?? How walkable is St. George's? Are there too many hilly streets?? How does Grenada compare to St. Lucía and Dominica etc.?

    • @thepuredose
      @thepuredose  Рік тому +1

      At night it cooled off enough, at least for me, to sleep ok even without a fan. St. George’s was definitely steep. However, the market area by the port is very walkable.
      I thought Grenada was very similar to St Lucia for the things I was interested in. However, Grenadian culture was much more pronounced and visible with every colorful town I drive through.

      @@thepuredose I think it would be fascinating to see a video comparing the culture and lives on the islands! Of course Aruba and Barbados have tremendous advantages by being flat and away from the hurricanes.

      I normally avoid resort areas, so I can’t help there. Sorry! Normally I use Airbnb.

    A cutlass is an all purpose tool not a for self defense or intimidation but I guess when you come from a place of more guns than people...
