THAT is how a Mustang should sound. I've been eyeing buying a 2018 Mustang GT with the performance pack and I know will no longer hesitate making my purchase now that I finally know what exhaust I want on it. I hate the more high pitch raspy sounding exhausts out there. Mustangs should have a deep, throaty growl to them. I know this video is like over 3 years old but I just found your channel and this video. Thanks
I almost bought these, but then went to your website and read reviews saying that the drone at 2000 rpm is unbearable; one guy was complaining that the drone is so bad that it makes some plastic parts rattle in his GT. So, I did more web search and saw a youtube video with sound clips of drone from these pipes, and indeed on that video the drone is bad enough to give me physical headache after prolonged driving. Now I am glad I didn't waste 1,200 on this exhaust...
I just installed this exhaust kit at my friend's shop today. Not being much of a mechanic, this video laid out the steps perfectly and the install was pretty straight forward. Thanks Bill and CJ Pony parts! You guys are great! -Rich in Charleston SC.
I feel like Corsa guys are living in a fantasy I've seen them complain about the drone from magnaflows but the Corsa exhausts are way louder than the drone ever is in a magnaflow, magnaflow till the day I die baby love that sound
The new Mustang looks beautiful not sure what people are complaining about, not too big on exhausts, unless it increases the performance? I must say it did sound a lot more beast like after you were finished.
+LetsLearnArabic The stock exhaust is very restrictive in order to comply with noise laws and provide a quiet ride for the overall consumer. Magnaflow is a straight through system and the x-pipe helps with flow as well as an aggressive sound. Gives an approx. 10HP and 8lb/ft torque increase. If you plan to do other power mods, an exhaust upgrade is a must IMO.
I really like the Magnaflows. They have a deep tone at low rpm, there's no highway drone. I can enjoy my stereo. It gets stronger when I get on it. A set of cut outs would satisfy the guys that want LOUD. A switch gets the cops off your back.
I installed this in my GT today ,it was easy and sounds strong one suggestion to the MFG is to shrink the chrome tips about a 1/4 inch around .its too close to the paint, just a matter of time before my cut out area is burnt...These have drone at 2000 :( but at WOT or over 70MPh they kick ass
Apparently this is no longer available at CJ Pony Parts. You have to go through Magnaflow or another supplier of the #19101 part number to get this system exactly as its described in the video. They do have the same setup with the black tips and mufflers (#19254) or the quad tip option that will make you swap out your rear valence, which is a big pain (unless the dealership does it with the right valence from the factory). They also have the street systems vs. the competition series.
Jimmy870 I just took my car on a 2800 mile trip running this exhaust system. First I will say it actually changes sound a little once you get a few miles on it, the deep tone remains but the boomy tone comes down a little which is nice. It was not bad on the highway but you will hear it at 2000 rpms. It doesn't have that resonance sound some others have where the pitch changes but it does have a little bit of a drone which is typical of all the systems that have a deep tone.
One note for this install that's not in the instructions or this video. You will need to clock the clamps at the X-pipe outlet with bolts at about 2 o'clock (driver side) and 10 o'clock (pass side). At 3 and 9 they will hit each other.
installed the street, when installing the h-pipe I put it on backwards before noticing. neither the instructions or the video tell you the longer pipe should be on the passenger side. hope this helps.
I started with a Borla s-type cat-back and I have since put a set of long tubes on my 2015 mustang with high flow cats and the connection pipes and all that, if I want the deeper sound like this would I need to find this as a cat-back system or would I have to go with an axle-back? I'm not too sure how the exhaust systems bolt up to everything but I was told by someone else that I could only go with an axle-back at this point to change my sound.
I have these on my 2015 they make lot of drone if you have automatic trans i would get the street i took back to shop they are changing out for the street version.
Bill you talk about no drone with the atak exhaust and have a much longer video of the sound. Is there much drone with the magnaflow competition exhaust?
I don't know what exhausted to get for my 2015 Ford Mustang gt. I want a beautiful loud sound I don't know what to pick from either the borla atak or the cat back exhaust. Please help
Would this fit on a ecoboost? I know it won't be as loud as this but similar. How much should I pay for a muffler place to install it only? Please help
Have that magna flow comp on my 2015 gt,love the idle and running but after 6th gear and you accelerate just a little the DRONE is awful loud or when going up an incline. Is there any thing to get rid of that drone? If not I live in Lake Charles la. ,want to trade.
Hi all, I have one of these. Any suggestion how to reduce rumble inside of the car... ? sometime on low RMP my ears screams to me to do something about this exhaust :)) many thx
scterka i just have question, im 16 and really want this car asoon as possible but i won't have any license until im 18 anyways. But my question is like how much money do i have to earn to be able to buy this car? Haha i mean like do i have to be a loyer or something? Haha sorry for my bad english and question but i really want this car when im older :)
Can you do this set up for the ecoboost I'm more impressed with the competition series over the street series exhaust system but wondering would it be a good fit for a daily driver car like mine
No cutting required for that catback right? I have a 2016 PP GT, It should be the same process to bolt on the cat-back on this car as well right? "No cutting required" Correct.
No, being a 4-cylinder, the EcoBoost has a whole different setup. We do offer many EcoBoost specific exhausts that you can install: www.cjponyparts.com/catalog/category/view/category/80070000/id/2206/?product_model=3204
which one has a deeper sound MagnaFlow Competition Series Cat-Back or Ford Racing Sport Cat-Back i also look at the borla systems but i am not a fan of the rattle sound
I'm interested in seeing the borla atak with the h pipe... any help would be appreciated... I'm stuck between the borla atak and the MagnaFlow competition
yea i'd like to hear the borla atak axle backs with an h pipe. there are vids on youtube but they're all with the off road h pipes. i wna know how it'll sound with h pipes like the mrt or ford racing h pipe. :/ let me know if you found sources with the h pipes!
TeeJayEastBeast Drone is an issue when a muffler makes a certain low tone consistently at a given RPM, usually around 2000 which is your highway RPM. Some mufflers are worse than others.

@Bill, I know sounds of exhaust are about personal taste. I have listened to a lot of them and was wondering something. What exhausts or exhaust would give a nice sound to a 2016 GT without being to loud with top down as well? I'm looking for a deeper tone with a nice rumble at idle and feel and/or hear a little in cabin without being to loud with top down too. I like several out there. just don't see a lot installed on drop tops yet. Thanks for any ideas or help you can give me. Tim

Just a quick question... It's probably a dumb question but I was just wondering.. If I install this system on my new 2015 mustang, will it void my warranty?
Hey Bill, I'm 50/50 between this catback and the Ford Racing performance catback. My worry with the MF is the drone. I like deep tones, and the Ford racing seems to have a deep tone but with no drone from reading reviews. Between these two systems, which would you recommend? When I showed my gf these videos, she said she would get a headache from the drone with the MF. However, I know youtube videos don't do the systems justice. Also, I commute in heavy traffic, so for most of my driving I would worry that the drone would get to me.
It will only void the warranty on the exhaust. For Ford to legally void your warranty on anything else they would have to prove the aftermarket part specifically caused the failure.
Wow, something's very interesting here. In the previous generation, if you installed an X-pipe, the sound would get really raspy, I mean, that's why people did it. To get that "raspiness". But I didn't get that from this 2015. What's your take on this, Bill?
Alex Joe That will depend on the dealer but these should not take any experienced tech more than an hour to swap out. My current record is 17 minutes :)
Bill Tumas I got a quote from my dealer at Ricart. I will be ordering this exhaust from you guys by the end of the weak. Really excited. Also getting the Roush heat extractor hood scoops :)
Which is your favorite cat back exhaust for the Mustang. I just bought a 2016 and don't know between Gibson, Magna, or Ford Racing Borla? Best recommendation please
Hi Bill, I'm waiting on delivery of a right hand drive Mustang GT in the UK, do you know if these exhaust systems will still fit? Great and informative videos by the way! Cheers buddy.
jesus castillo yes, look at them both, i wish i didnt see it but the damage has been done www.chevrolet.com/content/dam/Chevrolet/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Vehicles/Cars/2015_Camaro/Model_Overview/01_images/2015-chevrolet-camaro-sports-car-mo-performance-1480x551-02.jpg i.ytimg.com/vi/pe8UJMxi2Bc/maxresdefault.jpg

I am looking to up grade my exhaust system as well on my 15 GT, I need your professional opinion! I want a deep aggressive sound, I had the magna flow magna pack system on my 04 GT and it was just to loud. It had a high pitched sound I didn't care for. Sounded like you were try to hard to be noticed! I love a deep tone, it should be loud and deep. Hope I am not confusing you lol I guess what I am looking for is a aggressive sound, and no droning if possible. What's your recommendation?
+Jovan Jon If memory serves, didn't the '04 GT have the mufflers before the axle? And didn't come with an x-pipe. Totally different sound than with this for the '15 Coyote 5.0. Being honest, your 4.6 '04 probably sounded deeper that this due to muffler placement and over-axle routing. You should compare some sound clips of Ford Racing (by Borla), Corsa to this one and see what you prefer. Corsa calls theirs a no-drone technology x-pipe. You will hear this system inside but, it's not overwhelming. Hope this helps.
Kevin Stone Yes you can get this for the V6 and it will make it sound a lot meaner. People will try to tell you to just get a V8 as if it doesn't cost another 8 grand plus other indirect expenses. I will be doing this on my V6 eventually as well.
I love the deep tone of magnaflow exhaust, by far my favourite at a good price.
Still too expensive at $1500 though
Yes that magna flow sound, Love it. Deep rumble. Going to be even deeper when those headers are changed out.
First of all, I just want to thank CJ Pony Parts for the fast delivery! Second, the system looks and sounds incredible. 100% satisfied.

triquie71 hows the drone?
I've never been a huge Magnaflow fan but this is one of the best sounding exhausts for this car unless you want to wake your neighbors.

Thanks mate, lol I'll be dreaming at the moment maybe one day I'll get one who knows.
Best sounding Magnachoke system I’ve ever heard.
Great sound. That exhaust comes off so easy it's like Ford wants you take it off.
I really like the Magnaflows. They have a deep tone at low rpm, there's no highway drone. I can enjoy my stereo. It gets stronger when I get on it. A set of cut outs would satisfy the guys that want LOUD. A switch gets the cops off your back.
Magnaflow makes the best exhausts! Sounds sweet dude.
I got this exhaust for my 20 EcoBoost, I love how good the turbo sounds ! 10/10
Great video, guys. Sounds badass and its great seeing the install step by step. Makes it easy for hamfisted guys like me.
Corsa seems to be the best way to get these cars to sound.great video

Great video! you made it look really easy . it sounds great and when you took off like , man that that was awesome! You got a new fan
DID THE SAME EXACT THING WITH THE X PIPE, AND IT IS GREAT SOUNDING NOW!!!!!
I have this system on my 2017. I love the sound.
huevosmahao he man does it have any drone at all ??

corey graham yeah it is
magnaflow comp sounds great. I have a 15gt deep impact blue and love it. the grey does look nice on them though.
Backing track is sick
I'm not used to 60fps, this video is awesome, thanks, sounds great!
This is by far the best sounding exhaust for the 2015 Mustang GT. How is it on the highway? Does it have a drone?

Just a question, what is that thing on the right pipe at 3:23 ? and what does it do ?
That is a flex pipe, allows some movement of the exhaust.
Wow, that looks easy
What's the drone like if there is any at all?
@5:35
god bless you
Bill you talk about no drone with the atak exhaust and have a much longer video of the sound. Is there much drone with the magnaflow competition exhaust?
Great and informative vid....but no exhaust assembly paste ...is this how it is these days ?
I know the Ford Racing sport pipes are 30 pounds lighter than factory. What's the weight delta on these?
I would say about the same as the FRPP. The Magnaflow mufflers are lighter but the 3 in pipes are a little heavier.
I don't know what exhausted to get for my 2015 Ford Mustang gt. I want a beautiful loud sound I don't know what to pick from either the borla atak or the cat back exhaust. Please help
BUTERAA GAMING go borla attak for really loud or corsa. but for nice is flowmaster
BUTERAA GAMING late reply, but the cheapest, best sounding option is an H-Pipe+Muffler Delete
Would this fit on a ecoboost? I know it won't be as loud as this but similar. How much should I pay for a muffler place to install it only? Please help

Hi all, I have one of these. Any suggestion how to reduce rumble inside of the car... ? sometime on low RMP my ears screams to me to do something about this exhaust :)) many thx
Remove the X pipe and replace it with a resonator
thats a Mustang should sounds like, Good Job!!
Can you please do your top 5 exhausts on the 2015 mustangs
Which side of the X pipe with the shorter outlet tube go on? Driver or passenger?
Is there any exhaust for Cadillac CTS 2015 ?
Bill Tumas, since I don't have a lift available, would a set of ramps on the rears be sufficient to get access to do the install.
Yes you could do this on the ground
Thanks Bill. As soon as $$ permits I'm in!
scterka i just have question, im 16 and really want this car asoon as possible but i won't have any license until im 18 anyways. how would you say this compares to the mbrp race cat back.
what music is playing? thanks
Can you do this set up for the ecoboost I'm more impressed with the competition series over the street series exhaust system but wondering would it be a good fit for a daily driver car like mine
We will have some new Ecoboost exhaust videos in the near future

daniel reyes The Competition is deeper for sure.
Sounds great!!!
Bill if you had to make a choice between the ford racing catback and the magnaflow catback which one would you choose? Thanks.
I like them both for different reasons. All things being equal on a stock car I would lean towards the FRPP catback but its close.
I had Borla atak on my 09 GT great sound. no noise in cab no drone
J P with an h pipe?
How much louder than stock is the MagnaFlow Competition cat-back system when cruising at highway speeds? Thank you.
+Eric Marzucco Its' probably a good 20db louder on the highway. Stock systems are limited to about 85db drive-by noise.
Thank you!
What do people mean when they say drone Bill? Not really a car person lol. But I will be getting a 5.0 by June and would like to get this exhaust
TeeJayEastBeast Drone is an issue when a muffler makes a certain low tone consistently at a given RPM, usually around 2000 which is your highway RPM. Some mufflers are worse than others.
ordered the axle back but i think i want the x pipe now i wonder if it will work
66dands Our resonator delete X pipe will work fine with the Magnaflow Comp axle back
It's difficult to compare the volume of this versus the street, even after watching several videos. I have my heart set on a Magnaflow but I'm on the fence as to whether the competition is going to be too loud.@bill tumas which would you put on your personal ride?
Osillius The street was way too quiet for me, just louder than stock IMHO. I don't find the Competition to be too loud for my tastes, I am installing it on my car for a 2000 mile road trip in a couple weeks.
@Bill, I know sounds of exhaust are about personal taste. I have listened to a lot of them and was wondering something. What exhausts or exhaust would give a nice sound to a 2016 GT without being to loud with top down as well? +Tim Foster Deeper tone typically comes with the tradeoff of some drone at highway speeds. The Magnaflow has one of the deepest tones but you will get a little drone.
+Bill Tumas Is it a bad thing to have a drone on the highway?
Just a quick question... It's probably a dumb question but I was just wondering.. If I install this system on my new 2015 mustang, will it void my warranty?
Most likely void the exhaust warranty.
Walter White Correct
Bill I read one of your reply that when you put some miles on the system the boomy tone comes down is that the same with the MBRP race exhaust also?
+Dark Man The MBRP was only on my car for about 10 minutes so I can't say.
+Bill Tumas ok thanks sir
How's the drone on this cat-back setup? I'm considering daily driving this setup if it isn't too intrusive or overbearing.
I noticed a little around 2000 rpms but it was not bad at all. I would have no problem with this system for a daily driver.
Hey Bill, I'm 50/50 between this catback and the Ford Racing performance catback. My worry with the MF is the drone. I like deep tones, and the Ford racing seems to have a deep tone but with no drone from reading reviews. Between these two systems, which would you recommend? Also, I commute in heavy traffic, so for most of my driving I would worry that the drone would get to me.
dude i have a borla attack catback and my daughter sleeps in the back seat and doesnt even wake up.
How Much would this upgrade cost? Sounds like its going to be a must have..
It's currently available from CJ's for $1,199.
Thanks
+CJ Pony Parts I need one
What's the stock # for the mufflers??
Will this void my warranty? I'm nervous to do anything because of the warranty.
It will only void the warranty on the exhaust. For Ford to legally void your warranty on anything else they would have to prove the aftermarket part specifically caused the failure.
sounds good..deep rumble
Wow, something's very interesting here. In the previous generation, if you installed an X-pipe, the sound would get really raspy, I mean, that's why people did it. To get that "raspiness". But I didn't get that from this 2015. What's your take on this, Bill?
Depends on the mufflers and the location of them. Modulars always seem to respond well to the X pipe power wise, the comp mufflers have a good tone.
Bill Tumas Got it. Thanks, Bill.
What is the weight difference between the factory and the MagnaFlow?
Not sure maybe like 10 pounds lighter for the whole exhaust system
What size is the straight pipe
you we're done at 3:05
is there any brake fluid in this car
Is the color on this mustang the Magnetic color from the Ford Dealer?
Yes
Wouah !!!! beautiful song !!!!
Will it work for the ecoboost?
How much would labor cost on a system like this if I took it to a dealer? (estimate).
Also getting the Roush heat extractor hood scoops :)
the 60 fps makes a huge difference
Which is your favorite cat back exhaust for the Mustang. I just bought a 2016 and don't know between Gibson, Magna, or Ford Racing Borla? Best recommendation please
+Mr. Mojica It's personal preference but I like the sound of the Borla S type
Ok thank you for the advice
Hi Bill, I'm waiting on delivery of a right hand drive Mustang GT in the UK, do you know if these exhaust systems will still fit? Great and informative videos by the way! Cheers buddy.
I really hate to point this out but don't the body lines of the mustang look similar to the camaro's?
No
jesus castillo
yes, look at them both, i wish i didnt see it but the damage has been done

What´s the name of the song theme?? thanks!
this is BadAss
Does this video do the sound justice or does it sound much louder irl than in the video
We use the best mics we can and use multiples to replicate the sound as accurately as possible but usually it would sound a little louder in person.
Which would you say is louder the magnaflow competition or the Mbrp race? And which has more drone? Please respond
The race is louder, the comp is deeper. You will get more drone with a deeper tone.
Hi Bill! I understand there's some drone, but is it bad? Is it the sort that makes a very noticeable vibration? Does cranking up the music cover it? Thanks.
I installed the Comp on my car for a road trip. When it was new the drone was pretty bad on the highway, once I got a few miles on it, it got much better.
Thank you.
Bill Tumas So the Comp will drone more than the Mbrp Race? how would you scale both on drone once they settle?
Are there any horsepower gains with this system installed?
Magnaflow has stated 20+ hp. That might be a little optimistic but given the larger pipes and the deleted resonator you should see some good gains.
can this go on a v6
x pipe or h pipe what u think?
drone??
Bill which are louder in your opinion Borla or MagnaFlow on this GT?
***** which do you like better?
I have borla s axleback on my 2014 and the borlas sound amazing , very smooth sounding.
Borla ATAK or this?
Whats the Stock piping size? Is it the same as the 2014?
They stock system is mostly 2.5 in pipe but several places it crimps down and is noticeably smaller.
Oh so the 2015 GT is 2.5"! ok...I think I found a few threads saying that the 2011+ was 2.5" and some area 2.75"
And I thought flowmeter sounded good! Lmao this shit is ridiculous! Love it!!
Hi Bill, is the ford racing competition quiter inside the cabin?
Yes
which is louder? this or the borla s type?
joselikescars s type is subdued
Do they sell these for the v6?
Kevin Stone buy a proper V8 car
Kevin Stone Yes you can get this for the V6 and it will make it sound a lot meaner. People will try to tell you to just get a V8 as if it doesn't cost another 8 grand plus other indirect expenses. I will be doing this on my V6 eventually as well.
I wish i could get a v8 but this is my first car. So i can't complain, and once you get can you tag me in the video? Thanks
How much weight did this save?
