XD this was 3 years ago my dudes. I had JUST gotten back into yugioh, this was my first day back using this program. Everyone has their own tastes. I like classic yugioh, before GX. This new yugioh is an entirely different game now. Chill. Both are good in their own respects.
I beg to differ I'm a classic player too but Synchros and Token Summons seemed to have break the game/win a game within 2 turns Even my best strategies in using a classic deck only had me last until Turn 10...but then again if been trying to get back into things with Yugioh Duel Links But stuff like this kinda makes me happy I didn't money on real cards
cheers man. same here. I play retro yugioh. My boss monster is Enraged Muka Muka. The oldschool yugioh pace is much better. It's like chess in that there is a setup, mid game and the finale or end game. You set your stuff up for a couple turns then trade off points and build your field and then finale you reach the finale where one mistake from either side could end it. Then you have turn 2 yugioh. No thanks.
mate I do understand why you did this I really do but just like how life evolves over time so does tcgs and we need to keep up with it to get the best experiences we can play classic yugioh is great but sticking with it is like you're living in the past. By all means play the og but don't forget the og is gone now it's never going coming back in the way it once was.
... I'm pretty sure old decks like Hero, Lightsworn, Shortcircuit Batteryman, Dark World, Six Samurai, Cyber Dragon, etc, could also OTK you if you just play two spells and pass
@@Rabidragon9241 I swear master rule was the best change, but my god a part of me died since it made my 28k numeron combo less impressive since I had to really work for it in combos and now it's too easy.
The difference was that both people had 50 card jank decks (or 40 ... Or 60...or 80) and so it was figuring out who can get to their most powerful creatures first. But in all seriousness, there were mini engines in place and it was about timing your counters and stopping your opponent from being able to play their creatures and then come back. My friend had an amazing zombie deck that had great graveyard recursion. I typically had a dragon deck that was beefed up by dragons, buster blader, fusion monsters with dark paladin, dragon master knight, etc. There were engines in place (like using sangan to search for lord of D, playing summoning flute , getting my blue eyes out and then sacrificing it or fusion summoning off of it, etc). You also have summoned skull and red eyes decks, etc in the early days. My buddy actually figured out yata lock on his own before it was banned and locked me up and I was "like holy shit, you need to compete because you figured out an instant win). Back in the day, it was all about ... An actual reading card game, stealing our parents money to rip packs in his room, trading cards for Gemini elf to get the 1900 beatstick out etc. Was it perfect? No. But there was a community of unpredictable decks and styles. I scroll through the comments even in this video and people know exactly every card in his deck and how to counter. The surprise in the game is done. Back then, you could face someone new, ask them what they had and if they said "dragons" you were like "shit. That could be anything" could be blue eyes, could be dragon cannon, could be a magicians dragon deck, or a bunch of low level dragons. It was genuinely a surprise
Remember when you actually played yugioh instead of waiting 5 minutes for your opponent to finish their first turn and declare you lose? Pepperidge farm remembers
Yes and its fucking annoying when you sit there watching the opponent just basically play solitaire for like 10 minutes. I miss the old way of playing.
@@BlazeCon97 But half of the deck is on the forbidden list the keycard for example level eater and its only on there because of link. I mean the Synchro spam deck wasnt even meta it was just a fun deck which won a few tournaments
Classic YGO to new YGO is like going from simple math to geometry. If you played the game throughout the years step by step, it makes sense, but for returning players it's jumping all those steps and being overwhelmed. You need to learn about all the meta decks and the combos people abuse like shown in this video. Yeah, the old beauty of the game's simplicity is gone, and in its place is a game that requires large amounts of time and your soul just to understand everything. I'm not even going into how expensive it is to build a good deck in real life. It's as though the Seal of Orichalcos is the game itself now - and that's why people are pissed.
@@underpressure1954 not even comparable. One is a product meant to entice people which means its quality can be measured by players lost. The other is an era of an artform. Completely different measurments. Apples and oranges dude.
Nah they are super comparable. Games, TV, movies, and even sports are all art forms. I don’t watch baseball anymore because I feel pitchers are too good. I don’t watch the flash anymore because I think it got repetitive. I don’t fault anyone for not liking modern yugioh, it’s super different and hard. But Jesus please stop hating and go play duel links, y’all sound like boomers
It's not about that. If someone can win in one round then what's the point of calling it a duel?! It should be about both players having fun regardless if they're using a deck full of ''jank''. Oldschool yugioh has many monsters that are trash and it's still better than modern ''yugioh''. That's not a yugioh game anymore, it's a puzzle! You get three pieces of this and three pieces of that and boom you're victorious... Where's the fun in that?
@@Tsiribreezes well, it's not really anyone's fault if you keep on building decks without synergy for the sake of your ever so beloved "fun" and then losing on strategies that are much more cohesive and consistent. Having a non-synergistic strategy invalidates your right on being mad for losing, objectively speaking really.
@@Tsiribreezes should your opponent feel bad about you losing because your deck didn't have much synergy compared to theirs? I mean, if we're being honest here, GOAT decks are considered jank decks in today's standards. Sure, they might have worked before, but the meta game have already been way past that. If losing makes you upset then try to build a strategy that can actually win, that's the most sensible solution to that problem, because the game won't pity you for you choosing to be nostalgic. And if anything, that exact mindset is the reason why Konami keeps pandering to nostalgia.

@@imashadow699 you can't really "have fun" with a deck that you yourself know that realistically have no chance on winning against decks that are meta viable relative to today's standards. You're fooling yourself if you think a deck like GOAT (for example) can win against full power Dragon Link/Thunder Dragon Orcust. That's just not happening.
My biggest problem is not about being unbalanced (fucking Raigeki was in the L.O.B.E.W.D), is more 'bout how compo-based the game has become. The luck factor is almost non existent in some decks cause you can combo half your deck first turn, and is always something "Wow, Y cards brings X card, then X card has an effect when is brought just the way it was by Y card and" you got me. Is not from today, Elemental Heroes and other Archetypes were combo based, but now is just too much, at least for me. The thing I like the most in Yugioh is the psycological effect, but is kinda hard to keep it when it's so fast-paced.
Combos have always been part of the game. The issue is that too many archetypes do not get enough support. Reasoning+Dimension fusion Bazoo+Dimension fusion Magical scientist FTK Dark Armed Dragon (was $300 card when it first came out and caused so many players to quit because it was a requirement for competitive play).
You forgot the part in which the thousands of monsters summoned or in the graveyard can negate even your rent payment. Also, I wouldn't even say the game is fast paced. It's just that all of the game's run time has been concentrated on the first and second turns.
@@aRetailArchitect "shut up bro, pot of greed might be one of if not the most busted card in the game, being able to dtaw 2 with no restriction or painful choice which can set up all kind of crazy graveyard shenanigans, but trust me bro, it the best gen of ygo"
The real difference is the speed of the game. First eras of yugioh, you had fusion summons and ritual summons, both requiring a spell card and 2 monsters to get 1 monster on the field, relatively few special summons besides that, very limited interactions with the deck and graveyard, you could only get so much on the field at a time. Nowadays, special summoning into interactions with the deck and graveyard are 100% standard for any decent deck. Extra deck mechanics have become more and more generic (2 specific monsters+spell, tuner+non-tuner adding to right level, same level, between certain levels while pendulum zones are active, possibly as generic as having a single monster on the field.) This is why hand traps became a thing, because it became SO easy to swarm the battlefield with combo pieces and negates on your first turn before your opponent could play a single card.
yeah, I think that's the big thing i don't like about modern yugioh. In the past, it felt like individual monsters mattered. Now, I play one monster from my hand, use it's effect to special summon another monster, fusion summon through a spell card that pulls two cards from my deck, trade in all those monsters to xyz summon, use that to put more monsters on the field, which I sacrifice to synchro summon something, and then because fuck you you tribute both of those monsters for some reason and then you just win the duel and you've played like 13 cards.
Ive come back to Yu-Gi-Oh! After many years and it’s changed so much, gone from avid player to humble collector nowadays, it’s lost me.. duel links is more my style as play goes
In duel links there aren't somany combos, but in normal yugioh you meet ALWAYS people who are ready to block EVERYTHING even before starting the game...I mean, I play yugioh since 2016 and it changed a lot and I think the game was a bit better before, it was more funny.
"Noooo YGO sucks nowdays! YGO was much more fun back in the day!" Back in the day: Magical Scientist Royal Oppression Crush Card Virus Exodia Solitaire
Yeah, they keep complaining about new cards being too strong, but they tend to forget that the older Yugioh isn't different at all. It has so many OP cards or card that straight up broken for that time, like Chaos Emperor Dragon.
@@Meridianblood It's just the reality of this game. It's a fast paced game which it's actually interactive and making your opponent not be able to interact is a way to win. (And mind you, compared to all other TCGs that are still alive and kicking, YGO is probably the most skill based one)
And those cards are fodder tier compared to broken combo's in today's top tier meta game. That's kinda the problem. Some of this stuff like exodia and crush card was not even that broken. The in real life effect of crush card is waaaaay less broken than the anime effect. And getting exodia in your hand is alot easier said than done especially since each piece of it has been limited in TCG/OCG for like....ever.
@@varharan I disagree. An oldschool yugioh duel would take about 20 to 30 rounds with both players interacting. Now it's just a puzzle, you play three cards of this and three cards of that and boom you win in one round... That's definitely not what a duel means and I understand why people are upset. The game used to be fun and fair for both players, now it's all about who has the ''goat'' format. Like, who cares about formats?! I want my own format that I can have fun with and not get punished for being a fan but rewarded. Kids these days...
@@Tsiribreezes that's untrue, perhaps that's the case from a casual viewpoint, but ftk formats existed during goat, otks were common too. competitively, ygo was always fast paced except for the very first couple of years in the tcg(mostly because the game haden't been solved yet) and i mean WAAAY before synchro were a thing,
"Wait a minute did you just summon a bunch of monsters in one turn" "yeah, so?" "That's against the rules isn't it?" Oh how the abridged series has aged like a fine wine
it feels like the roles have reversed a bit and now the tv show is getting more accurate to how the game was actually played and now the card game is like the original anime.
Not only that but it´s always the same Monsters. Always Apollousa, Zeus, Borrelsword Dragon etc. It´s the Same with everey Deck, only the way to get there differs.
@@Daurgon While Apollusa, zeus, accescode are all staples that are played as a boss monsters, meta archetypes have all their bosses that they play such as herald of ultimateness/perfection in drytron, tri-brigade shuraig the omenous omen in tribrigade, prank-kids battle butler in pranks, UCT in dinos, etc.
@Daurgon yes these are staples most decks play, what is different from old school ygo. For example hoat format: every deck play pot of greed, graceful, duo, torrential, snatch etc.
People can literally side an entirely different deck back in Goat format because they played so many staples. It was always Thousand Eyes Restrict, Chaos Sorcerer, Air Knight Parshaith, BLS, and DmoC. Ain't that different. Rogue decks that actually use any other boss monsters didn't exist because Rogue decks back then were literally FTK shit like Library or Empty Jar. Idk what y'all ppl complaining about seems like it just boils down to competitive vs casual Yugioh in which case the latter one was much less fun back then cause you kinda have to run the staples too and nowhere nearly as abundant as rn in term of archetype and deck diversity
Some of the comments here are hilarious. When I watched the video I was like "wtf did he expect, bringing old and bad cards (even back in the day some of those cards sucked) to the modern format?" I don't get it. If you refuse to go along with the evolution of the game, then of course you will be crushed. Like... What? But some of the comments here suggest that some people actually feel like the game should revert to caveman YGO, to which I say : just play goat format then, and stop complaining about change
There are tons of old cards that still see play like solemn judgement, Raigeki, monster reborn or even mirror force, and that doesn't make them unplayable. But there is no doubt that the game has been power crept to the point where even the most fearsome decks of the old formats like chaos or teledad would be jokes even compared to the modern casual decks
Pfff that's a stupid comment. Yu-gi-oh used to be about duels, not who has the goat format. I want MY format. I don't care who plays what and where... And that's the problem with the modern yugioh. Nobody plays for fun anymore and people play so ''mechanically''. You get three cards of this and three cards of that and boom you win round one! It's not even a duel anymore, it's a puzzle!
Besides what the video shows i think that the real problem is of how effect works, like i always liked the Stardust dragon effect because it is a negate but it has a specific protection effect, it doesnt stop your opponent from play but it defends you, so like its a negate but only works if your opponent has something to damage you ( its not like it stops the first effect that the opponent use and just like that he cant play anymore). So yeah i think that monster effects should be less like "if your opponent tries to play you can negate it" and more like "if your opponents tries to damage you somehow you can negate it" Its like comparing shooting star dragon to cosmic blazar, Shooting star is like: "if your opponents attack..." And "if your opponent activate an effect that would destroy...." Cosmic blazar is like: "If your opponent activates or tries to do something you can negate" So yep thats my opinion
Defensive negates make for a much more interesting game than negates that lock your opponent out of their entire turn. I guess cards like Trap Hole have always been around, but you could play around that with MST, Cyber Dragon, etc., instead of having to worry about your opponent dropping negates from their hand on your turn
9 card extra deck, random assortment of beatdown spells, using TDOANE. But yeah, no it's the game's fault you lost. Listen, I'm all for having fun, I Aquaactresses and Fishermen are my favorite decks, but maybe instead of seething over your lack of skill you could better yourself? Absolutely despise all these Yugiboomers groaning about how the game isn't caveman Yugioh anymore. The game changes as time moves on, get over it. I miss MR3 but I can't turn back the clock. This large sentiment of hatred towards modern yugioh makes the community inhospitable for anyone who isn't some old ass 90s kid.
The thing is that an old deck Wont be viable unless you upgrade It with newer cards, thats what *support cards* is all about, dark magician, blue eyes, dragón link, dinos, etc are viable because they got support for their archetype, if you dont want to play something specific just use the Monster type you preffer and make something that actually has sinergy, you have something for all the types of Monsters, so you Will allways have something to play, even if you like gemini they got support, its not a shitty Game, its an evolving Game and you have to evolve with It so that you dont fall behind
Not all cards get the support they need. Red eyes hasn't gotten any support. If by evolution you mean play the same deck as everyone else than it won't be fun anymore. And I don't want to do that.
@@Linkirby it is you can play any mish mash of engines to make your own deck But there are some decks that are made to not allow creative deck building (like how they made union or gemini ) because of how little or how restrictive their support is (union are exclusively abcs now and gemini only got ablation in the gemini centered structure :') ) Or if you want to talk archetypes then by your example red-eyes fusion locks you out of every other good engine in the game andso little can work with such restrictions)
You should try goat format, you can look it up online, but basically it's a format where you only use cards from 2005 and before. It's a lot more fun in my opinion and has a small following that is growing.
Yeah! I remember Yugioh use to be Actually Competitive and Fun at the same time. Now, this Yugioh is so Broken, it became unplayable and completely Killed anything that was fun about Yugioh to begin with. It's Garbage now. Who the hell summons almost 20 monsters in one turn? That was a time when u normal summoned and rarely special summoned a time when the game was fun and took skill but now this game isn’t about fun it’s about how long u can make ur turn last and how quickly u defeat ur opponent (max of 2 turns) this game is honestly awful now and it really sucks to see one of my favorite childhood hobbies to turn into garbage

this is such a funny comment section cus half of it just like "bro what the fuck are you playing" and the other half is just boomers complaining about synchros.
For me it's the modern card art that has disappointed me. It went from being weird things with a ton of diversity in visual design that looked like actual monsters with some humanoid monsters. But now everything is either a dragon, anime protagonist, or an anime girl. Even dinosaurs couldn't escape this with the Dinomorphia archetype lol
Yu gi oh just turned into an over complicated version of "coin flip". 50-50 chance for all decks, you either win or lose in turn 2 and that's it, that's the whole game
I've come to the conclusion that yu-gi-oh is a mess because they fucked with summoning. If you play magic the gathering you will know that the mana system sets a standard for summoning, 1. it never changes, 2. it sets a precedent for the cards power and toughness based on the level. This was supposed to be how yu-gi-ohs star system worked. The problem is that the star system becomes null and void when you make the requirements for summoning monsters easier and easier in terms of synchro and pendulums. Most people you play in magic even if they're really good will probably not win till turn 5 and that is consistent from year to year because they kept the standard and instead to keep the game fresh they changed what the cards did, not how they were summoned. deathtouch, lifelink, enrage, cycle, coven, etc. The thing is Magic cards from back in the day still hold their value and aren't garbage because they can still be played today. magic may at times have power creep but the mana system in itself prevents it. Yu-gi-oh has no power creep prevention and therefore all your old cards are trash and you need to keep buying new ones. Also since there is no alternate formats if say I wanted to play "Historic Yu-gi-oh" I'm out of luck because no such thing exists. Magic has a very play how you want mentality which makes it a much more enjoyable experience. Yu-Gi-Oh is a bunch of sweaty losers criticizing you for playing what you like because it's "garbage" or "trash tier". I want to enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh but inevitably I think that it's slowly dying as they keep pushing away new players with their bullshit. Magic is as simple a concept now as it was 20 years ago and is welcoming to old and new players alike while Yu-Gi-Oh shuts the door on new players and tells them to "git gud" because their game is intentionally broken and they refuse to fix it or else they'll upset the mother's basement dwellers.
I like modern YGO but still I have sympathy for the guy. It's understandable the game would suck if you haven't played in a long time and see all the new stuff.

I remember getting back into yugioh, and my first game back in someone did something like this to me. I sold my deck to the store afterwards and quit the game immediately.
The big difference to me Is not that I can't understand the game mechanics they just ARE NOT FUN and thus not worth investing the time into.. and heres why: Its not fun watching someone play solitaire because you don't have enough hand traps in your hand to stop what they are doing. Its not fun to watch someone shuffle their deck a 6 times a turn, special summon 4 to 5 monsters and just kill you out right because in their combo they have removal for everything you could have in play like the clip you see there. Its not fun ending a game on turn 2 no matter what the outcome because it doesn't leave any room for long term decision making or card advantage or VARIANCE. Its boring to play against decks because they only do one or two things very consistently and every game ends the same way, or in a concession because you interrupted their value combo stopping it in their tracks and they are unwilling to participate in any line of play that isn't finishing their combo. Its IMHO a shitty gaming experience.
You would probably have much better experience looking for people who are down to play in classical formats or do a progression series with a friend. Nowadays youd only find current format players on quick match emulators
Damn I’m want to be nice, but this whole comment section sounds like a bunch of boomers. I get that the game is way more complex, fast, and difficult now. And I would be an idiot if I said the meta doesn’t have problems. But honestly the game is not even close to dying. Just look at the tcg financials. The new online tcg/ocg game coming out is only going to help. If you want to play slow, multi turn games: play Mgt, hearthstone, or just play old formats of yugioh online. But the whole reason me and my friends like yugioh is BECAUSE of how fast it is. We can literally build a deck and test hands and combos in seconds. Every other card game you have to wait so long to try anything exciting . I don’t want to wait 5 thirty turn games before I figure out if my deck concept works. These days your opponant will SS like 15 + times have like 20+ effects go off on turn 1, Have a huge board that will litteraly negate eveything you do that your turn is basicly skiped unless you have the perfect / right answer in hand as eveything you do pretty much is negated by the other player that when it goes back to his turn he attacks for game and you cant do anything about it Ragitie / Skill drain? IMO I feel like Edison format was peak Yugioh. Modern Yugioh is too fast/difficult for new/returning players, and Goat format has too many ways to just rob games from you like Delinquent duo/Faith, etc.
Edison still has the early game problems with sack cards ..... but i agree it is a good format to have fun with while taking breaks from current format ....
Not that difficult. I stopped playing back in 2008, got back in last year, and learned the new game fairly quickly. There are 3-4 minute videos on youtube that easily explain the new summoning mechanics. While I agree that modern yugioh can be bullshit most of the time, a lot of "classic" players that complain are too lazy to even try to acclimate
I mean, that dino player didn't have a great hand, if your deck couldn't beat a semi-bricked dino, even in dino true king format, then what's the point of playing competitively. I know your were just searching some random people to play with and maybe "have fun" but most people who "play" at simulators, use them to simulate a competitive duel, testing competitive decks and competitive techs and cards. Some simulators let you type text when you create a duel room and let you type something like "no meta" or "just for fun". If yours does not have that option and you just want to play for fun then just rage quiet every time you notice a competitive deck. Btw my English bad I speak ñ
sometimes im feel pretty bord in playing yugioh because my opponent is so unfair to me and the new mechanics was so truly unfair to the average duelist like me
Today's Modern Yugioh is So Broken, it became unplayable and Killed the fun. And if you Modern Yugioh Lovebirds don't like my comment, EAT💩. I remember Yugioh use to be fun and Competitive at the same time. Now, it's straight Garbage. Who the hell summons almost 20 monsters in one turn? Are you kidding me? God this game is beyond Broken. And don't get me started with Hand traps.🤮
I realize Yugiboomers are completely full of shit, but why do modern YuGiOh players get so butthurt when people don't want to play it? For me personally, it just looks unfun. Not even because of too much special summoning. I remember as a kid wanting to summon more often. Just honestly looks like a card game I wouldn't enjoy. Which is a shame because despite being a "Yugiboomer," I remember as a kid I wanted YuGiOh to evolve. I could tell back then only playing Eternal Duelist Soul that the game had potential but had *a lot* of terrible cards and certain cards were just way too good. I'll be 100% honest, I just really can't be fucking bothered to learn the meta or research archetypes. I also had a bad experience when a friend tried to get me into modern YuGiOh.
Again, another misinformed yugiboomer comment. There was a meta back in the day just like there was now. Everybody played dark armed dragon if they could afford it, and there are so many decks that are underappreciated/underplayed that still do very well at tournaments.
@@CopiumCopi Im playing Yugioh since the beggining. Now i am active player and i won a lot of tournaments here. So there is no "yugiboomer comment". Back in the day was a lot of meta decks and very strategic games since the word strategic itself comes from a game where you can have a lot of decisions and actions depends of a lot of situations, which is not the case for actual Yugioh "proffesional" or "expert" game (maybe in amateur yes because in that category they have more decks and options). Sure you can have as advanced player a lot of underappreciated decks but it means nothing, because you are actually doomed facing a competitive deck with a non-competitive deck. Also the only "strategy" nowadays is basically memorice two or three combos so you can win fast if you have the first turn. Sure nowadays the cards are more complex than back in the day, but it means also nothing since the complexity of the cards and decks wont be showed in a strategic style gameplay. Only a fast-combo pre-memorized style.
@@armwrestlingenespanol5157 Of course knowing the combo lines of a deck is neccesary, but managing your resources and extending the right amount separates good and bad. There are also minute differences in combos that are very important, and it’s not just robotic, you have to play reactively and assertively to do good. While of course some decks are better than others, that’s bound to happen and rogue decks still put up a fair fight, a lot of decks are tier 1 for there consistency, not how good the end board is
@@armwrestlingenespanol5157 The way you're wording this comment makes me really suspect you are not an active player and don't have many tops. The game right now is more diverse than it's ever been except for possibly HAT format. Deckbuilding has almost infinite freedom, plays are generally pretty complex each turn with you needing to think 3 steps ahead, and there is significantly more counterplay in the current game than there used to be. If you don't like Yugioh right now that's totally okay dude, but this stuff is completely untrue. Even the combo decks you're talking about are going to lose every single game if they go for the exact same play every game. The best decks and best players can change their strategy on a dime to accommodate the situation, as opposed to older formats(which were not bad by any means) where you were locked into pretty linear play patterns.
You most certainly have never even went to a tournament, let alone talked to someone about YuGiOh in personal. The game is more strategic than it ever was before. There are more decks you have to expect, and there are more outs your opponent can have to your own deck. You do not have to follow meta decks. Many, many times people top/win tournaments with Tier 2 or worse decks, which shows that skill is more important. That last point is just pure dog vomit, one doesn't even need to say why.

For me Yu-gi-Oh isn't as fun as back in the early days cuz there's less interaction. Unless you win the dice roll, you sit while your opponent takes a 20 min turn hoping you draw multiple handtraps.
People are actually upset that Yu-Gi-Oh grew up as they did. Would you rather the game still be meant for 10 year olds or adults so the people who grew up with it can still enjoy it? Having a product grow with its audience is one of the best things to happen to the game
So, you want the game to be limited to just one kind of audience as in the one who grew up with it? I don't think kids are going to enjoy this game unless they want cards for the art it presents. Watching people play is a bore, have you tried watching YCS on Twitch? Mirror Matches and just straight up knowing what they're going to do. Some people have never experienced their board being literally gunned down by Dark Armed Dragon and Magical Scientist, being hand looped by x3 Dustshoot, Confiscation, Duo, and Sentry, and being Yata-Locked, and it really shows in the comments.
That's because the "old YGO" they talk about was about playing anime or casual decks at a friend's house or local, but don't realize that the competitive side of "old YGO" was the same as modern YGO.
They need to add more life points in this game to make it last for more fun cause your ether locked and can't play or you lose if you go first by getting OTK.
Wouldn't make that much of a difference, a full dragon link board with borrelsword per say could easily push for over 8000, plus they'd probably have to rebalance some cards and would be a hassle overall and would make burn decks in any shape or form completely unviable.

Even if you play "old yugioh" (or the Goat format) you will find that most competitive old yuigoh always had "win-ish by turn 3" decks. Your problem with yugioh was always a thing but you probably didn't see it before because the people and decks you played with and against were different. You said it was your first time back so hopefully, if you played ranked, you will rank down to your level and play against other players who are using for fun decks or other players that will be fun for you.

I like how "classic yugioh" is just saying "unplayable 50 card pile that I played during middle school lunch"

Classic YGO to new YGO is like going from simple math to geometry. @@Tsiribreezes should your opponent feel bad about you losing because your deck didn't have much synergy compared to theirs?

I think it was a duel of bots, one of them had an old deck and the second had a modern deck
So u say there unusable cards ?? Means the game sucks
You explained it well
There are tons of old cards that still see play like solemn judgement, Raigeki, monster reborn or even mirror force, and that doesn't make them unplayable.
So yeah i think that monster effects should be less like "if your opponent tries to play you can negate it" and more like "if your opponents tries to damage you somehow you can negate it"
Its like comparing shooting star dragon to cosmic blazar,
Shooting star is like: "if your opponents attack..."
And "if your opponent activate an effect that would destroy...."
Cosmic blazar is like:
"If your opponent activates or tries to do something you can negate"
So yep thats my opinion
Defensive negates make for a much more interesting game than negates that lock your opponent out of their entire turn. I guess cards like Trap Hole have always been around, but you could play around that with MST, Cyber Dragon, etc., instead of having to worry about your opponent dropping negates from their hand on your turn
@@joshuab3918 thats exatly how i think about it, im glad you think this way too
That's exactly the problem
His deck wasn't even viable back in 2004
@@megaspacewaffles ik

Not all cards get the support they need. Red eyes hasn't gotten any support. If by evolution you mean play the same deck as everyone else than it won't be fun anymore. And I don't want to do that.
@@Linkirby it is you can play any mish mash of engines to make your own deck
But there are some decks that are made to not allow creative deck building (like how they made union or gemini ) because of how little or how restrictive their support is (union are exclusively abcs now and gemini only got ablation in the gemini centered structure :') )
Or if you want to talk archetypes then by your example red-eyes fusion locks you out of every other good engine in the game andso little can work with such restrictions)

Yu gi oh just turned into an over complicated version of "coin flip". 50-50 chance for all decks, you either win or lose in turn 2 and that's it, that's the whole game
Are u new to this game?
I'm confused what the problem is

I remember getting back into yugioh, and my first game back in someone did something like this to me. I sold my deck to the store afterwards and quit the game immediately.
The big difference to me Is not that I can't understand the game mechanics they just ARE NOT FUN and thus not worth investing the time into.. and heres why:
Its not fun watching someone play solitaire because you don't have enough hand traps in your hand to stop what they are doing.

Remember when duels were a good 15 minutes long now people when with in like 3-5 turns like that’s crap
Duels actually last longer nowadays. matches and such
@@megaspacewafflesoutside of a video game setting I’m sure it would take longer to read out the cards but in a video game setting barely takes any time
@@beasty7063 I'm seriously wondering exactly what Era you all are talking about where games had a consistent back and forth which made the game last 15 minutes. This man put down one swords of revealing light and expected to live.
@@SeraphSeph in 2002 you could place just swords and live though maybe you weren’t old enough to have played back then
@@beasty7063 I'm old enough, it's just ridiculous to expect the game to not even advance to the point of backrow removal, which came out in 2003. Seems like nostalgic players will never be happy.
This is why I just can't play yugioh anymore. The meta sucks and as you can see players are toxic af.
Agreed
I don't get how that guy is toxic he is literally playing a casual deck, this nigga on the other hand playing fucking 20 year old cards expecting to win like tf, like even if cards didn't evolve you're still playing the strongest cards of that time so everybody would still just run the same cards and there wouldn't be a way to counter it aka bad game design and nowadays with so many cards there is a way to counter everything which makes the game playable
@@bogdanjovanov748 The game is not playable for everyone especially if someone is new. Hard to play the game when everyone plays meta. Also sucks if you can't use your favorite cards or an affordable deck. Everyone pretty much usee the same cards and stratgey. It's uncreative and not fun. I used to play a Blue-Eyes deck, on duel links, and other Blue-Eyes players literally used the same thing over and over again. I was the only one who had a different gameplay. Same was true for other players who used the same decks - it was the same strategy. It just really isn't fun for everybody.
@@bogdanjovanov748 People also criticize others too easily and really are rude. Some people think they are all high and mighty just for being good meta players and just focus on winning rather than both players having fun and a chance. Again, not a fun card game. This is why I just collect cards and enjoy the series.
@@KuramiRocket
-There's a huge difference between not playing meta and playing a 20 year old deck that was already garbage 20 years ago, to then whine about the current state of the game.
-You can have fun playing meta
-The meta right now is one of the most diverse of all card games with like 25 competitive decks
-Duel Links isn't YGO
For me Yu-gi-Oh isn't as fun as back in the early days cuz there's less interaction. Unless you win the dice roll, you sit while your opponent takes a 20 min turn hoping you draw multiple handtraps.
have you heard of this thing called Eldlich?

Really? You want to go back to Yata-Lock Format?

People are actually upset that Yu-Gi-Oh grew up as they did. Would you rather the game still be meant for 10 year olds or adults so the people who grew up with it can still enjoy it? Having a product grow with its audience is one of the best things to happen to the game
So, you want the game to be limited to just one kind of audience as in the one who grew up with it? I don't think kids are going to enjoy this game unless they want cards for the art it presents. Watching people play is a bore, have you tried watching YCS on Twitch? Mirror Matches and just straight up knowing what they're going to do. At least the anime and manga has some showmanship to enjoy. Kind of like when they bring the VAs to an event to do a showmanship duel.
@@johnlucas2838 first off fuck them kids, Pokémon still targets its youth audience and to me not changing at all over 20 years is boring. Konami at least tries new things, and why make a game for kids when the game takes a paycheck to play.
@@johnlucas2838 well you dont know rush duel is a thing and its design for kidz and also in some local their kidz and adault tabel so you get the rest idea.
Let's see....
Magic the Gathering has been around for 30 years... and still appeals to the same teen to adult demographic...
Pokemon has been around longer than Yugioh.. and still appeals to kids WHILE having an adult demographic...
Duel Masters has been around for 20 years... and still appeals to kids WHILE having an adult demographic...
Gee, it's as if you can do both....
Oh, and YGO, which was once dominated Japan and nearly beat out Magic in the West, has become 3rd place in the West (behind Magic and Pokemon) and like.... 5th in Japan. With Duel Masters 1st and Pokemon 2nd. So....
@@horusschnopp1882 dude, you're talking some bs here. YGO has never placed out of top 3 TCG's in Japan, since 2009. YGO is in 2nd according to september report, with 4x more sells than 3rd place. Pokémon is 1st with 2x ygo sells.
Its crazy that I'm just looking at this and thinking, that dino player is playing a little slow
So it sucks because u draw 6 magics ik first hand
They need to add more life points in this game to make it last for more fun cause your ether locked and can't play or you lose if you go first by getting OTK.
Just my opinion
If you think 8k isn't enough, check out duel links
Then do a tag team then, the score will be double
Wouldn't make that much of a difference, a full dragon link board with borrelsword per say could easily push for over 8000, plus they'd probably have to rebalance some cards and would be a hassle overall and would make burn decks in any shape or form completely unviable.
@@CopiumCopi That burn deck ban part would be great tbh.
I'm here from 2022 and it's worse than hell
It's like you traveled back in time to 2018 to tell the guy, that it's getting worse.
*I agree with you btw.
your opponent's deck has a strategy while your deck lacks lol
To the people still not reading my pinned comment, just keep sharing and viewing and giving me more views lmao 🤣
I have nothing against new or old Yu-Gi-Oh. Yu-Gi-Oh has evolved into an entirely different card game and that's ok. Both are ok in their own respects.
My deck was bad because (like I said in the pinned comment) this was my first day back and first battle lol.
I was rusty to say the least. I got all magic and trap, that happens sometimes.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. You might get less hate in the comments if you titled the video titling the video "I used to play yugioh for fun but yugioh is not fun for me anymore".
Maybe you played yugioh with friends in your neighborhood for fun and it was fun (it looks like you were playing a burn deck?) but it looks like your opponent was trying to win not hangout with friends in the neighborhood.
"Giving me views" you have less than 1000 subs. So views mean nothing.
