This receiver can output iBus/SBus signal on white wire and PPM signal on yellow wire. Better use iBus/SBUS signal, as it has less latency, is digital. Also I could not set up failsafe on PPM signal with this receiver. Also could not set up SBUS - known bug in the V1 of this receiver. So ended up with iBus signal only and it works OK.
Thank you. That is a little tricky compared to a 2-way FS-i6B. I was getting lost because it never stopped saying RXBinding . . on the transmitter and the LED kept on flashing on the receiver. I was actually bound, and all I had to do was turn the transmitter on and then off again. Nice video . . . short and sweet!!
Thank you for your feedback! Yeah, it was tricky to bind this receiver thanks to the lazy Flysky developers, who didn't implement 2way protocol for this rx.
I'm one of the original members of the thread back when it first started. This is the second time we had been contacted and asked for our information. At least this time some of us actually got personal emails. Six months of frustration. I lost $450+ in less than one flight. Just finished the build the night before. Not even one full pack. Because of public safety, I had to disarm in flight. Just so happened that I was over moving water when I had to initiate failsafe.
+Paul Butchyk, really terrible loss! I feel your frustration and I understand you. This was the epic failure of the FlySky to release the so much anticipated RX with such a fatal issue. See you at RCG. Lets see how FlySky will deal with this.
Huge thanks and putting a ZOHD Drift and been trying on and off to bind this receiver to a Jumper T Lite for a few hrs now and your vidoe worked. Hope all is well.
Binding is easy enough but you need to make sure that each piece in the chain (transmitter, receiver, flight controller) is in the correct mode; PPM and i-Bus or S.Bus. The receiver from the factory is set to PPM and i-Bus. For PPM it uses the yellow for signal, the red, and black for power to the receiver, the white wire is not used. However if the PPM pin on your flight controller is where the white wire is on the 3 pin plug you can remove the yellow wire from the 4 pin plug that goes into the receiver and place the white wire there. To remove the wires from the 4 pin plug locate the little retaining fingers on the side of the plug, lift it slightly with a tip of a razor blade being careful not to bend it too much or break it and pull the wire with the pin out of the plug. Place the white wire where the yellow one used to be. The PPM signal will now be transferred over the white wire and the yellow wire is no longer attached. For i-Bus and S.Bus, with the original wiring harness not modified, the red, black, and white wires are used. You could remove the yellow wire to save weight as it is not needed. If you're wanting to use S.Bus you'll need to do one more thing, the receiver comes in PPM and i-Bus mode so you will need to switch it to S.Bus. You can switch between i-Bus and S.bus by powering up and binding both the receiver with the transmitter, after they're bound the light on the receiver is on solid. Hold down the bind button till the light starts flashing and then let go, when the light turns solid again it has switched modes. I paired this receiver with a Radiolink Byme-A for a small fixed wing. I had to search the Internet for this last bit to make it work with S.Bus. I hope this helps.
thank you, that helped a lot, and worked. i have 2 of this receivers with only one fs-i6x, do you know how i can tell the fs-i6x to use the receiver from the one or the other selected model?

Kriswixx this RX has iBus/SBUS and PPM out. Can be used with Walkera. Probably the easiest is to connect by PPM wire. Only three wires needed +5, GND and PPM. Connect PPM wire to the RX on the flight controller. Then configure in the Betaflight Configurator. Watch more videos about connecting the RX to FC... good luck

Thank You for this, I have been messing around with it for 5 hrs now. After watching your vid it worked. It is not a very good VTX though as you don't know how much battery you have left on the transmitter.
Have you bound it with the original Flysky T6 afhds type 1 Rx yet? I have to do this & I know it supports both afhds 1 & 2A (2A by default). Only thing is you would have to have type 1 selected in your model memory set up but, what when it comes to binding, does that matter? Because when you put the tx into binding it just go's automatically into a set state. Thought I would ask to save me hassle & headache, although I would probably have started that process already.
Montis Oh, I meant bind the original afhds 1 FS T6 receiver with the FS i6 tx. I would of done so by now, only I left the lipo for the rx in the shed. It will be tomorrow now. I know it supports it that's why they added the backwards compatibility, it's just the binding. I've pre set it for 2A off anyway in the model setup. But in binding mode, I'm not sure it has any bearing anyway? It might just be designed to pick up both types simultaneously in the binding.
Oh, I see now. In this case yes, set AFHDS 2A to OFF in model setup, save and restart TX in bind mode. You must set the right protocol before the binding as the binding is different for different protocols. Flysky FS-i6 transmitter works with all AFHDS and AFHDS 2A receivers!
This recveiver has standart servo connector on the other side. So if your flight controller has pin header connector it is possible to connect without soldering. But usually you'll have to solder the receiver to almost any modern flight controller.
If you follow my instructions and get the solid light, then it means the receiver is bound to the radio. Most likely the problem is somewhere else. What protocol is active on the receiver IBUS or SBUS? Try switching between the protocols by long pressing the bind button.
@@MontisTube Thanks! I'll try it out. Although i did read this forum about you telling that the receiver does not save the SBUS mode state after binding. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2792377-FS-A8S-help

No, this receiver has iBus, Sbus and ppm output, but no servo (pwm) output. You cannot connect servo directly to this receiver. This receiver is intended to be connected to some flight controloller.

Yes, I connected to bf and no response on anything from remote. I've also been in rx setup and changed to ppm, Ibus and the other 2 options. Could it be the a8s receiver that's broke?
+peccamc jaundrill if you use iBUS or SBUS, then you need to assign UART2 to serial RX and receiver mode to RX_SERIAL. For PPM you need only to select RX_PPM as receiver mode. If you see no reaction on receiver tab, then either it is not bound or not connected correctly. Of course it is possible that your item is broken...

When binding the a8s to my transmitter by switching on the transmitter + holding down the bind key button, the a8s doesn't respond and the red LED still blinks fast. Can someone help me with this? I can't get it to work...
@@MontisTube yeah thanks i found out yesterday, i had to switch it to afhds and turn it to PWM /SBUS. Now it binds. My next problem now is the quadcopter isn't recognised by my laptop or betaflight when i plug it in with a USB- datacable. So i can't connect it and configure it with betaflight yet. I already tried zadig and impulseRC, but neither work. Can someone help me with this? Nevertheless, helpful video Montis!
@@MontisTube yeah ,i've used a differen't data cable and now it works. the LED doesn't blink but stays on when the receiver is powered and the transmitter is on, so it is succesfully bound. But still the quadcopter can't receive any signals from the transmitter. the transmitter doesn't show the receivers battery life on its display. don't know whats wrong now
Good so far. Now you need to set up the UART you have connected the receiver, choose SBUS or iBUS on BF configurator. By the way a8s can be swiched from SBUS to iBUS and back by holding the bind button pressed for a few seconds. Try it.
There is external AFHDS 2A JR module for TH9X, but I haven't tried it. Also it is possible to upgrade the firmware to er9x and use multiprotocol module.
You can bind it to Flysky FS-i6, FS-i6x, Turnigy Evolution and other transmitters, supporting AFHDS 2A protocol. Flysky FS-T6 is AFHDS transmitter, so no, you can't bind FS-A8S receiver with it.
Brooklyn Droner hard to tell something but it may be that you need to setup your FC for proper signal input and also wire your RX to the correct pins. Try to read more about connecting RX to FC via iBus and PPM.
Connect your FC to Betaflight Configurator and check why your quad does not arm. Some tips can be found here: www.multirotorguide.com/guide/troubleshooting-arming-issues-why-quad-not-arm/ Check the Radio tab and Modes tab first.
Taylor Hokanson, yes you can. They both work in AFHDS-2A protocol. Just follow the same steps. You will not see the binding result on the FS-i6s screen, just watch the receivers LED.
+Taylor Hokanson you need to connect PPM out from the receiver into flight controllers PPM input. Then check if the receiver works in the Receiver tab on Betaflight/Cleanflight/iNAV. Alternatively you can connect serial RX (iBUS) output to the appropriate FC input. Search the inet for receiver connection to flight controller.
Yes, one antenna with U.FL (IPEX) connector (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirose_U.FL). It is AFHDS2 capable receiver but without two way communications, so no telemetry and etc.
Кто знает подскажите: можно ли RC Receiver, Flysky FS-A8S 2.4G 8CH Mini, и как правильно использовать для управления самолета вместо приёмника FlySky FS-iA6B
If you need to connect the servo and esc directly to the receiver, then no, FS-A8S receiver will not work. You need some flight controller to use FS-A8S.
You need to show in the video what you cannot see how to attach the power....Where's the power coming from. You don't show where the wires are coming from
This video is about binding, not showing how to connect it. IBus signal usually is connected to any UART RX port. It is normal, uninverted serial protocol. This RX also has PPM output and IBus can be swithed to SBUS.

i had successfully bind with fs i6 on my ex110 but quad not responding, its my first racer, please guide.
Fish and Aquarium Lover , connect your ex110 to the cleanflight or betaflight configurator, go to the receiver tab and check if the FC responds to your TX sticks movements. If not - you need to configure your receiver. Possible variants PPM, iBUS or SBUS. Good luck.
unable to connect with betaflight or cleanflight
Im so thankfull man
Thank you!!!!
You are welcome!
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
Nice video! Thanks! :)
You are welcome!
good vid, thank you! Q: do you know the range?
+kamadella Thanks! I haven't tested this rx in flight so I don't know the range yet. This RX has some issues, that FlySky is trying to solve. Read here: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2792377-FS-A8S-help
When binding the a8s to my transmitter by switching on the transmitter + holding down the bind key button, the a8s doesn't respond and the red LED still blinks fast. Can someone help me with this? I can't get it to work...
Make sure your radio is in the AFHDS 2A mode.
Try different data cable. What does your device manager shows when you plug in the FC?
Try it.
Huge help thank you👊
Thanks. Well done.
my receiver turns solid not slow flash.
You are amazing
I bus/ s bus are both are same and they are different so how to setup s -bus with controller
Can this be used on a FS-T6?
Nope. This is AFHDS 2A protocol receiver and FS-T6 is working with AFHDS only.
Good thing i didn't buy one then. thanks i didn't know 2A wasn't compatible with the older
looks like I'll have to do more intense googling.
You could look at my guide (list) of all small Flysky receivers here www.multirotorguide.com/news/flysky-receivers-roundup-year-2017/
Can I bind it with th9x?
No. Unfortunately standart TH9X has only AFHDS protocol and A8S has newer protocol AFHDS 2A.
@@MontisTube is it possible to upgrade from AFHDS to AFHDS 2A?
There is external AFHDS 2A JR module for TH9X, but I haven't tried it. Also it is possible to upgrade the firmware to er9x and use multiprotocol module.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are welcome!
thanks for sharing 👍
You are welcome.
omg thank you sir I got it working now!!!
I'm glad it helped!
thanks nice video
Thanks man 👍🏻😉
You are welcome!
thank You so much!
you can bind it with fly sky fs-t6?
You can bind it to Flysky FS-i6, FS-i6x, Turnigy Evolution and other transmitters, supporting AFHDS 2A protocol. Flysky FS-T6 is AFHDS transmitter, so no, you can't bind FS-A8S receiver with it.
ok. Thancks!
No output on the transmitter Display... why?
This receiver does not send telemetry to the transmitter. No info will be on the tx screen.
i have the old version i guess my transmitter binds it seems but it doesnt do anything its a fs82 reciever and a fsi6 transmitter
Brooklyn Droner hard to tell something but it may be that you need to setup your FC for proper signal input and also wire your RX to the correct pins. Try to read more about connecting RX to FC via iBus and PPM.
thanks great help
Bro does it work with fly sky ct6b
Unfortunately, no. Flysky CT6B is first generation AFHDS transmitter and the Flysky FS-A8S is second generation AFHDS 2A protocol receiver.
thank you
Good video. I just bind with my fsi6. LED solid yellow. But my betafpv wont work. Can anyone help me. Its work on AFHDS2A.
Connect your FC to Betaflight Configurator and check why your quad does not arm. Some tips can be found here: www.multirotorguide.com/guide/troubleshooting-arming-issues-why-quad-not-arm/
Check the Radio tab and Modes tab first.
Montis thanks you. Its work. Forgot to change ibus/sbus.
Thanks!
thx!!
Thanks
You are welcome ;)
I get no RX signal ?
thanks bro
can't make this failsafe work with this one, any idea guys?
Do you use PPM or iBUS output? I could not manage to make failsafe on PPM, but it do work on iBUS signal output. I suggest you to use iBUS.
Mines bound but seems to not work still
Remmember that FS-A8S can output iBUS and SBUS signal. You can switch that by long pressing the bind button.
Non mi si binda piu dopo aggiornamento cosa posso fare?
this receiver support with pixhawk controller by using s bus and how to s bus setup pixhawk controller
Thank you! :-)
does it work in fs i6x
Yes, it should work in fs-i6x also. The binding procedure is similar.
Can you bind this to the FSi6s
Taylor Hokanson, yes you can. They both work in AFHDS-2A protocol. Just follow the same steps. You will not see the binding result on the FS-i6s screen, just watch the receivers LED.
Montis ok thank you also i can get it bound but no input do i need to flash betaflight before the transmiter will do anything thanks
Montis ok i conectected the ibus output to the flight controller now what do i need to do?
+Taylor Hokanson set serial RX on the right UART and select IBUS as RX protocol type. Refer to many pther YT videos how to connect RX to FC
Hello.
In sbus no working.
how to s - bus setup with control chip
only one antenna?
Yes, one antenna with U.FL (IPEX) connector (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirose_U.FL). It is AFHDS2 capable receiver but without two way communications, so no telemetry and etc.
Is this a good option for a mini racer (130mm)? would it be still be able to fly FPV with the same range?
Eric Avila, this is not a full range receiver, but it is small, has ppm and iBus outputs, has failsafe in iBus and you should get about 300m range.
Mine is not blibking fast
Wish you made that video shorter lol
Only 2:45. I tried my best, but I'm slow. LOL
before you purchase the fs-A8S checkout the thread on RCGroups FS-A8S Help.
You won't be happy.
Paul Butchyk, FlySky is preparing revised version 3 of this receiver. they state that all troubles will be fixed in V3.
Looks like there will be no V3 of this receiver :(
You need to show in the video what you cannot see how to attach the power....Where's the power coming from. You don't show where the wires are coming from
This video is about binding, not showing how to connect it.
IBus signal usually is connected to any UART RX port. It is normal, uninverted serial protocol. This RX also has PPM output and IBus can be swithed to SBUS.
Dont work
Sorry for that.
