SKIP to 8:31 for fixed audio!!!! This will be fixed in the archived edit tomorrow.
Thanks for the info. I was about to skip this video because of the bad audio.
It was a very funny moment though, you make a great alien voice😂
“All rooms should be ready at check in time”, which is normally 3 or 4pm but some people like yourself like asking for late check out at 4pm… rooms don’t just clean themselves. It takes housekeepers 30-45 minutes per room to clean
The room ready thing I get it, but having worked in hotels life just doesn’t work that way. Staff call in sick, pipes break, there can be maintenance issues. Life is not a guarantee. Still frustrating when the room is not ready, but stuff can happen.
For all that hotels do wrong, it's refreshing when one does it right. Once I spilled liquid on the bed that left a stain, I left a note for housekeeping (and a tip) and when I came back to the room, they had given me clean sheets and a note thanking me for letting them know. Makes you smile when housekeepers are doing a great job even though they'll probably never see you.
That's super nice of them!
I don't like hotels putting holds on cards for "potential incidental use" Just bill me when I leave for the things I used.
Great point!
Yeah ive read horror stories about people who had money held on their credit card by a hotel and it was thier only credit card and they didn't know about the incidental hold so they were away from home with out away to buy things.
Awesome chris. I agree with you about the water pressure… you’d be surprised how a bad shower can ruin your vacation!
We recently took a trip to New Brunswick from North Carolina and I have to tell you that the showers we encountered had the hottest water I have ever encountered in a hotel… And on a consistent basis with many different places that we stayed! It was lovely!
I was about to say water pressure before you posted, lol. Also, towels. Some towels feel like sand paper!
Another excellent presentation, Chris! Unfortunately, at one point or another, I’ve had to put up with just about every single item on your list; albeit, for me personally the noise is the most aggravating bit. In general, I consider the hotel exposure and accommodations to be at least 50% of my overall travel experience. I don’t try to penny-pinch on hotels - if the hotel sucks, either my work assignment is compromised, or else my vacation is ruined.
I made the mistake of staying at the D last time I was in Vegas. The stage was right outside my window. Was terrible.
Oof. Sounds like you have some rough nights there!
Power outlets that aren’t by the bed. Still in 2023. Insane.
That's why I keep my travel extension cord in my carry-on. 🙂
When I stayed at Vdara in Vegas, the bathroom did not have a fan or an air freshener. Plus, housekeeping is super slow to respond to your needs. I had to elevate my issue to management and housekeeping didn’t show up until 1030 pm. Luckily, they removed that pesky resort fee for the last night
We used the mobile app check-in at Bellagio and then printed keys at the kiosk. Best thing ever! No wait, no long lines, no hassle.
Nice Dawn!
I had the pleasure of having a beautiful room that overlooked the pools at PH Las Vegas. On day 3 of my trip, my body finally said enough, you need a nap. Try taking a nap when the thump, thump, thump, of some "music" being played at the pools is actually making the windows vibrate. And even having the tv on full volume won't drown it out.
Oh man I can relate… stayed at Paris in Las Vegas right by the pool and that night they had a live music playing until 1am and the speakers were vibrating the room. The band was actually quite good but with the day I had, I really needed a good night sleep. It was sooo annoying
Last June stayed 1 night at the Gold Coast extending my Vegas stay of 5 nights to 6. I was happy to be at the end of the hall till the morning. The supply room for housekeeping was a door away from my room and every ten minutes housekeeping was opening and slamming that door, painful. Nice work Chris!!
Doh!
Sucks I had to miss another live stream. But love watching in the archive. Another fun one!
Resort Fees😡
The stream was excellent chris. Even though there was garbling audio, that won't stop me from enjoying it Chris. I hope you appreciate my supersticker as well
Thanks Yoshi! Yes. I definitely appreciate your support!
@@YellowProductions Also, thought I would share this, but it happened again in Boston that I ran into more fellow explorers with my shirt.
@@bostonelevatorsaviation triple neat!
my input on #16 is the super tightly tucked weighted blankets are perfect. no complaints ever.... as long as the a/c is running
Yes, please check out. Housekeepers need rooms to start cleaning. If no one checks out there’s no rooms ready for cleaning until check out time which will make Less rooms available by check in time. Some housekeepers take it upon themselves to knock and check rooms before checkout which is why you get housekeeping knocking the day you check out, but that’s because they don’t have a room to clean since many people don’t check out when they leave in the morning
Thanks for the perspective FLP
I feel like I’m in the matrix in the beginning of this video😎🤣
Hah! Sorry about that glitch!
Just catching up with your video and watching the part about finding the light switch on/off. It also reminds me of how they used to have a compendium with all the things you need to know including how turn on lights, thermostat, etc. I don't see those much anymore and do like you Chris, call the front desk to ask. What a pain! Love your videos! Thanks!
We stayed at he Marriott downtown Buenos Aires November 2022 and it made our trip! We had loyalty staus and used the M Club most days!
Nice!
Remember the drinking bird desk toy? I have two in my suitcase. The keep moving (silently) and keep the motion sensitive lights/air conditioning units on!
Hah! Awesome!
Anaheim/Buena Park: I liked the Pepper Tree Hotel - it's not high class but it has pretty large rooms, kitchen and full size fridge. It's good for families.
Thank you Chris - Really enjoy your video's and Alice my fiance has started following you too but as much as i tell her she calls you the "Yellow Man" lol - keep up he great advice you do :)
Non smoking hotel is a must for me. I also prefer a window I can open in addition to an aircon. Also 24 hour reception.
Another pet peeve....the vents in the room and bathroom with an inch of caked on dust and dirt!
For sure Barbara! Yuck!
Love your livestream!! Always great to hear you talking about different subjects
Love the robot voice so great. The robots
Almost ruined the video 😂
Hah
Yes, about the towels and pillows! Hardly any towels and a lot more than usual having rips, or fraying! There are a lot of pillows but I use two for myself , but I don't like the neck pillows and decorative square ones.
The Westin in Atlanta is notoriously known for long check in times. Its also a very business oriented hotel for airline staff so many employees check in after hours.
As always bro another fun and informative video! Keep slaying! YP4L!
I don’t drink coffee or tea. I wish that they would have hot chocolate in the room.
Hi we wanted to know when Traveling princess channel will start? Thanks for all you do!!😊🌈👍👍😊
Hi Kel. Working on it.. i don't have an exact date.. but hoping to launch within the next couple months
We recently were on 3rd floor for 2 nights. 2nd night elevator broke down and stayed that way till after checkout. Tne code key stopped working after first night too.And they left no clean. towels, so they said for us to come get them. This was a Baymont Inn in Columbus, Ohio
I’m planning a trip to LA, do you have written reviews anywhere or should I browse through your videos? Want to stay at one of the Santa Monica hotels near the pier that you pointed out in that video but I don’t know their names. Love your channel!
Hi Elizabeth. Hopefully you don't get this comment twice. I wrote it once before but not sure if it posted. I only do videos. Not much of an author. That hotel I mentioned is the Loews Santa Monica
@@YellowProductions thank you!!
Two times i stayed in Vegas were bad. One resort place kept the AC at 75F and i even complained at the desk it wasn't working. Maintenance came up checked & just tilted the vent down to blow on my bed, but that didn't cool squat. Had to sleep with my slider door open for night breeze on 3rd floor. Another time i had a room & the AC smelled like old nicotine every time it kicked on. Probably carbine monoxide, too.
75F is way too warm for me too
Fees increasing and services decreasing.....grrr
Hotels needs remodeling? Nasty dirty disgusting room😠😠😠
Coronado Springs is the name of the Disney Hotel. Come on, sensor to control AC in Orlando? 😂😂😂😂 I have my AC turned on all year around in Orlando!🙃🙃🙃🙃 it’s hot and humid most of the year here!😂😂
Yeah. Sensor AC is way lame
Mobile check in is great for saving time, the only downfall is you get what you get. I have had to request a different room on several occasions.
Very true Ron!
Hate those showers with the flat grate and half glass doors! Water everywhere! Then you have to use the few towels they give you to mop[ up the mess!
If the front desk people didn't spend 10 minutes trying to upsell you, the check in lines would go faster (I'm looking at you, Venetian!).
We just went to Chicago for 4 days and stayed at the Hyatt Place Chicago River/North; highly recommended if w/out a car. It's located just a few blocks of walking distance from the Chicago riverwalk and Dusable Bridge, such a convenient location for tourist attractions and restaurants. You can also walk to Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier. The hotel itself was really great. It is a modern and clean hotel, we were on the 16th floor. They have a nice breakfast and the staff is super helpful. Reasonable pricing for the week of 4th of July; $180 a night
Next, we flew to Toronto, Canada, and stayed there for 4 nights. Finding a hotel was super hard because they were all expensive in the city center, so we decided to stay near the airport (yet it was $180 still), and the only available option was a Holiday Inn, which was terrible. Though it was fairly modern inside, the service was absolutely awful; don't stay at the East location (there's 2 apparently).
Hey Kristina. Yeah. I usually avoid Holiday Inns entirely. I've stayed in some pretty lousy ones in the past too.
I apologize if this was covered, I didn’t have a chance to watch the entire stream, but I find it annoying when hotels (i.e. in Spain) have half a shower door. The floor always gets wet!
Ah #18 covered it haha.
For sure MT!
Hi Chris...something is wrong with the delayed stream audio...the pre-live opening clip is fine but the actual livestream is all garbled until about 07:00 😅😅😅
I'll trim out the garbled part once UA-cam let's me.. thanks for the heads up.
Video starts at 7:08
Honorable mention : having to punch in the ages for kids...every time you want to book. at least the loyalty program can save that info can't they???
So annoying!
Glad I stopped eating breakfast and lunch about a half decade ago. One healthy meal a day is just fine for me. My wish is that hotels and restaurants could have better quality food that is not carb/sugar laden stuff. With hotel staffing as it is and going to places like Maui, renting a condo is so much better that way one can cook at "home" on one's own schedule.
One meal a day. That's impressive. My body requires more regular intakes of fuel
@@YellowProductions It takes time to work to that once a day meal. Mainly by greatly reducing carbohydrates to under 20g per day in my case. Am I hungry between meals? Nope, the fat and protein satiates my cravings. It is a way of eating that a lot of people do but most don't.
I once booked a hotel and when I got to my room to my surprise the bathroom had no toilet paper! It wasn't a huge issue because I called the front desk and they brought some in a few minutes but it could end much worse if I needed to dash for the bathroom as soon as I got inside the room.
Some pretty lame housekeeping there
Hi Chris! You are so On Point as usual. I love your travel videos. My son is a Globalist and I am an Explorist. I literally LOL when you said you just walked out of the hotel and didn't check out! 😆 I have done that with MGM in Vegas and with a few Hyatt properties when I couldn't check out on my cell or TV. So I really could relate! I literally just called the front desk and told them I left and to please check me out. CAB 😉
Thanks CAB! Glad I'm not that only one that gets to that point occasionally!
I had a Vegas hotel check me in a “clean” hotel. They were cleaning it I called down to the front desk and they argued with me that it was clean!!
Doh!
Yikes on the audio...your mic has a cold.🤣
Cut out the first few mins or viewers may leave before the fixed vid portion.
Boy, this is so relatable. 😂
Always ask for 2 keycards, and never keep them next to your cellphone.
Dude where did you get awesome clock on your left?👌🏻
It's called a Tidbyt
@@YellowProductions i am getting a one right right away ✌🏻thanks
Luckily i vacation in late sept and most places ive stayed have seemed like i was the only one there, happily.
One time I checked into a hotel in Tampa after a conference and I was so happy to be there, I just wanted to lie down. I lay down on top of the covers and stretched my arms out - only to discover that there were a ton of boogers on the pillow next to mine! 😮
Hey Chris do you ever go on cruises?
Not so much. Ocgirl is prone to motion sickness
fairmont kea lani in maui is fast with valley
Woah, is Chris actually a robot??! He sure sounded like one at the beginning 🤣
Maybe it wasn’t actually Chris? LOL
When in the UK never stay in a brittania hotel..
If the towel is too far away, just walk around and air dry
About the glass walls in showers, I just came home from Glasgow, Scotland, and in the shower, the glass was so big that there was only a 12" slot for me to squeeze into!! I'm kind of a big girl, and my stomach and chest had to manually be moved and pulled to the side in an awkward way, to get through!!! 😱😱😱🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Makes you wonder who designs these hotel rooms doesn't it?
They really do never stay at the Tropicana Las Vegas the worst I see why none of the UA-camrs I watch have been there
The worst room was facing a fire/police station in San Antonio
I bet!
We always check out.
Resort fees are not a problem if you KNOW about them.
I honestly don't care, I will pay them.
But I have stood in a check in line listening to a person ARGUING with the clerk who is pointing out that the Resort Fees are clearly specified in your reservation. You must know that you are not getting a room for $19 a night.
I got a queen size bed in tokyo but the room was too tight i had to slide around the bed 😂
I believe it!
We recently stayed at Luxor over the 4th of July holiday weekend. The room was so horrible that we didn’t even wanna review it. My wife found what she believes is black mold in the bathroom. The room also had a stuffy musty odor. The toilet also made a loud obnoxious flush as if the pipes were clogged. Room was so bad we wrote a letter to MGM resorts international. Thanks for the content. Check out our Las Vegas Series if you have time
Ewww. Yucky Luxor
Low toilets with no barstool pull up
I need a hair dryer in the bathroom. Some of them don't provide one.
Anothee way hotels ruin your stay is when they charge you for something but you don’t get it
Indeed Yoshi. Pretty lane when you get charged or something you don't get
Dishonorable mention: when the bathroom light switch is outside the bathroom.
For sure
Worst hotels are found in Miami.
I wonder how many folks watched this episode in a hotel room?? :) :)
I hate community soap. have you stayed at a tru hotel is this a over price motel 6?
About the key cards, when I stayed at the Crystal Gateway Marriott (which I know you have too), they gave someone else a key card to my room. Luckily I had the extra lock on. I had to explain to the person that the room was occupied. Granted the hotel did give me a very nice upgrade to a suite even though Im only a basic member so I didn't hold it against them too much.
Doh!
or drive a stick shift cant drive it
First world issues
Funniest video you've ever done lol. How about hard as a 🪨 pillow?
Thanks Mindset Motivation. I hate pillows that are full of rocks too!
I'd rather stay at a hotel than an AirBNB... fuck, you're pretty much stranded when there's an issue with the host at an Airbnb. At least a hotel has numerous people to talk to if there's anything wrong, and the upkeep is more likely to be there seeing as you're relying on someone with deep pockets to fix your room up for you and not an AirBNB host who is struggling to make ends meet and can't keep fixing all their old broken doors, cabinets and bathrooms.. anyways, Airbnb is good when it's good and it's bad when it's bad
