'Always Somewhere' sticht aus der damaligen Umbruchphase Ende der 70er neben 'Holiday' und etwas später 'Still Loving You' heraus und ist eine so wunderschöne und zeitlose Knallerballade, komplett reduziert auf den wesentlichen emotionalen Kern (anders konnten Sie auch nie musizieren), so daß ich mich an ihr nie satthöre. Dafür sorgt schon Klaus' einzigartige Stimme. So grundgut, ehrlich und vertraut und m.M.N. 90% des Geheimnisses dieser Band. Für mich war das Lied Beleg dafür, daß die Scorpions nach dem damaligen Ausstieg von Uli noch noch nicht am Ende waren. Ohne Wertung ihres danach weichgespülten kommerzielleren Gewandes und trotz ihres seither überwiegend nur noch begrenzt spannenden Materials, doch in der Lage, der Welt noch 1,2 weitere absolute Klassiker für die Ewigkeit zu bescheren. Außer Kraftwerk fällt mir kein anderer deutscher Act von ähnlich internationaler Relevanz, Gültigkeit und Tragweite ein. Tangerine Dream, die Hosen, Nico, Klaus Nomi oder Trio waren natürlich herrlich stiebende Funken und hell aufblitzende Sterne, im Vergleich zum mittlerweile wenigstens 45 Jahre andauernden und weltweit bis in den hintersten Winkel dieses Erdballs reichenden buchstäblich nahezu allumfassenden Bekanntheitsgrad der Scorpions, tatsächlich aber nur kurz aufleuchtende Sternschnuppen. Das Phänomen Scorpions beruht darauf, daß Sie imstande sind ohne Umwege direkt in die Herzen vieler Menschen vorzudringen. Womit ich wieder bei Klaus' Stimme angelangt bin. Auch kaum eine andere Band (Priest? Maiden?), hat mit soviel Ehrgeiz, Plan und Zielstrebigkeit auf den internationalen Erfolg hingearbeitet und das seit frühesten Lonesome Crow Tagen. In Deutschland gab es wohl außer Udo Lindenberg zu dieser Zeit sonst niemanden, der die deutsche Rockmusik mit dieser Vehemenz und Geradlinigkeit, dazu mit massivem Output, derart nachdrücklich geprägt und mit nach vorn gebracht hat. I remember this song a lot cause it remind me of my childhood. I was just an eleven years old village boy when I first heard this ballad. Back then I had to spend my own pocket money just to hear this song from a jukebox which cost me 10¢ for each song. Beside, there's one more ballad that came along with Always somewhere.
