Having 2 Defenders myself, I'm keen to hear how you find them in regards to the following: Comfort for long-distance driving // Visibility out the front windscreen and side window - referring to looking upwards to the skyward - do u lose much visibility due to sitting higher? // Quick &/or easy access to storage/battery under the seats? - I gather you would have to remove the passenger's seat altogether to replace the battery? // Position of seats in relation to the handbrake - has this altered at all?
I'll give an update after using them more but after 6,000kms very happy. Visability is a problem for sure, traffic lights for example. I've just had 2 batteries in and out with the seat base just folded up, no removing of the seat and the handbrake... well, still a pain.
Can the battery still be removed and replaced through the seat pop up space?, or would you need to remove the entire seat
Yeah I've placed 2 batteries under the seat, still only lifting the base to place them in! As the seat is on long slides, you can slide the seat back over the hole better.
Did you guys found a solution to avoid having the steering wheel too close to the legs? I'm a short person and it is too damn close...
Hey! Is the passenger seat too close to the door for you? I was thinking of adding a rivet nut for the side of the base that is closest to the door. I was wondering if you have the same issue.
Which car seats can be swapped to the Defender any ideas !

I've been watching seat replacement videos all weekend. Nobody shows how far back the seats recline! I think that's important, no? How flat do these go?
You can get a piece of something that goes on the seat box corners to stop wearing if you want to put a vinyl join
Spending money on seats is absolutely worth it, nothing ruins a trip faster than shitty seats.
I reckon youll be sitting too high in them relation to the windscreen

Recline to about 180°.
Great series to watch. I did the ultimate pike out when looking at Defenders (having owned 3 in the past) and bought a very late model Disco 2. Comfort already installed! It is looking good and very interesting to see how she goes. Cheers
I have a Disco 2 as well! But damned if the seats don’t move far enough back!

personally I would have gone to the wreckers and grab some Ford XR6 falcon seats and yeah you may have to make some custom adaptor mounts but it's worth it in the long run

I have a TD5 110 and I’ve put the Scheelmann seats in. Just done a Canberra to Coffs trip a week ago and they are such a comfortable and supportive update. I was a bit worried about the cost but not after the trip. They are a great investment. An option to raise the cubby is installing a Frontrunner Storage Box. It will lift the cubby by about 10cm

Don't be put off by the Jeep and Nissan. The sidetracked series is excellent. Can't wait to see the Land Rover out there with the Patrol!

Nice seats the Scheelmann’s, I went with Exmoor Trim for the seat box access so nice to see that Scheels now have the access sorted too ! Looking forward to seeing how they perform !

12mths on, how do you rate them? Can you change a battery with the seat base lifted or do you need to remove the seat?

Still love them. Annoyed that I've got it a bit dirty.. yeah both batteries in/out with the base lifted up!
I have watched several of your videos and would be keen to know how you assess all the mods - do they perform to your expectation? Seats, suspension, 35" tires etc....
I will do that, just giving them enough time for a fair opinion on it all.

Seems no one in the centre console fridge game has any concern with making them look good...
If only Scheel-mann had seats that would fit insite a single cab.
Nothing fits inside those damn single cabs.
@@SIDETRACKEDYeh, I've got a Perentie and i believe even without a rear cab panel on it they wont fit unless you modify the rear bulkhead. I would say though that i am not in the same position as you as im about 176cm and find the searting positions to be fine but just the comfort of the seats (from the military) arent the best for long distances.
what's that vinyl called for under the seats and what kind of cubby box is that?
That is called sound barrier floor mat from CarBuilders. Cubby box is factory land rover.
Approx how many kgs did you just add?
At a guess, between 20-30kg all up.
think there is a kit you can get goes under the centre box which would lift it up higher think it is so you can relocate the ecu on the td5 modal as the box under the seat gets a lot of water in it if you are doing deep water crossings i got a 2m extension for the ecu so i can mount it on the roof don't know what they were thinking when the put the ecu under the seat
