- Split-shotting is not the sexiest or flashiest way to catch a bass but it is probably the most effective way to catch them year around. I dive into the technique around the 9 minute mark. Gear in the description below. Thanks for watching!

Hey Nick. Your dad taught me the split-shot method back in 1987. It is my go to method when the bite gets tough. I still have a couple hundred leaches from back then too. It normally doesn’t get the hogs, but it definitely puts numbers in the boat.
Such a cool flash from the past! Funny how we forget old techniques! 🤙
This brings back memories! In the early day, time are more simple, so is the foshing rig we use.
Split shot leach. It brings back memories. Probably why I’m a power fisherman, but at times it will be what puts fish in the boat.
This retro set up doesn't disappoint! Thanks for bringing it back!
I like the way you think bro. A simple technique is all we need.
It never gets old. This is the rig i use when i first get into fishing.
I'm going to use this one. Dads always have the tried and true method.
Nice One! The old split shot rig! Got to love it! Thanks for bring us along!
Tried this technique today. It works. The bite was really tough today, and this was the only thing that i could catch bass on .
Even caught a couple of bluegill on it.
I have been using split shot worms for 45 years and used to catch some today. Caught my biggest bass to date onsplit shot
I always believe in keeping it simple in lifes dealing. This is one fine example.
Now that is a technique i can deploy on my next fishing trip.
Those old school techniques still work!
Great idea, thanks for the suggestion. That’ll be a perfect setup for my children to have better luck out on the lake!
More guys are doing it again down here in so cal. We started split shotting at Castaic Lake back in the day. Great video bringing back an old school technique.
Amazing how far we have come and cone full circle! This rig reminds me of when i was younger.
Fun day out fishing! That is the order of the day.
Good for lakes and ponds. Would be hard dragging that in the Delta.
Old school split shot- awesome!
Dude, I used to do that with a 3-inch senko back in the day. One of the most productive ways to catch lots of fish!
I like the idea of a simple set up.
I like the simplicity of this rig!
Looks like another great truck up your sleeve 👌
Best bang for the buck! Great go to tip for those tuff dog days of summer.
Great catch with that old school technique!
Awesome simple technique! I've used this in the past, think I need to go to it more often!
You had me at cheap and effective!
I live right next to Folsom. Definitely gonna have to try this.
Not a presentation I’ve actually ever tried. Thanks for all the tips
Looked like pretty good fishing. Way to go.
Split shot worm. Nice!
Looks so nice there, water level great! Love that Jaw dropper! 👍🏼
Great tip. Reminds me of my Carolina Rig setup.
Appreciate the tip, will give a try next time on the water.
Hang on tight! Cause this rig rules!
Good info. I've never been big on that technique.
That is do cool! I tune in just for this kind of videos!
What an epic of fishing.
Thanks for.the revisit!
Thanks for another inspirational video.
The drop shot came on tho the scene and took over the finesse game. I myself like to split shot.
Nice catch Nick!
It's amazing how old trick still catches modern fish.
Nice video! Nice technique! Thanks
That is such a cool technique!
It's an awesome technique to catch em.
I got to give it a try!
I have been using this technique for years with live bait for walleye. Now I will apply it with fake baits!
Cool catch!
Such a fun way to catch fish!
Nicely done! I like it.
The more simple the rig is, the easier it gets the fishing process going!
About time we get another video lol. Always good stuff!
Nice..keep.em coming
Going try this next time out.
Going old school baby!
I used to split shot reapers all the time when I was first starting to bass fish. Maybe its time to revisit that technique since I don't see people doing that around here anymore.
Nice, seems like a good one
Never been to Folsom but looks fun
Been using the split shot rig for years with a Robo worm, always works when the bite is tough
Another great way to catch large mouth, nice!
I learned how to catch fish using this rig.
This looks like it suits my style of fishing.
Cool video. Thx
Split shot rig is on method that gets overlooked and can be a killer technique for catching bass!
Pretty dope thx
That is the way to catch them!
This technique is a killer on camanche too
Great video ! Unfortunately water gremlin has went out of business a week or two ago
It seems like a good technique to catch bass.
Hey Nick,do you know where I can get any of those leech baits?I've always liked the split shot rig because it works good.
Why you telling everyone my secrets? 😂 I use a split shot all the time but I actually use a mojo weight and swivel instead of crimping on the split shot. Absolutely killer technique when you just need to get bit.
My father taught me how to Fish On this very rig!
Such a simple way to get a bite.
It’s works great I do it
Can find those lures anywhere!
Go back to the fundamental! Thanks for the reminder!
SHHHHHHHHH.............it is an old school technique that has never stopped working. Reapers, Finesse worms, Single tail grubs, Small swimbaits, 4" Senko, all work great on a spilt shot.
Im going to pour some of these and try them out. I have several different plastics to try. What would you recommend. A slow sink, fast sink, ?
That’s how all of my family learned to fish… the split shot😃
I think the neko rig gives more action but this is weedless… if possible I’m going neko.
This is just a Texas rig with weight further up.
That doesn’t give them any negative danger signals like power fishing baits
Sometimes, i do think i so over think things. It should be an easy rigs like this to have some dun on the water.
that's just the mojo rig (or from where i learned from is called the mojo rig). basically a fixed carolina rig
It’s funny how we get caught with all the new techniques and forget to use the ones we started using as kids.
Stick with what works!
I use to split shot all the time until I started to use ned rig.
Going back to basic!
If it catches bass then, it should catch them now. Over the years, we just have more fancy techniques that sway as are for the yester years rigs.
Old school
Nice technique, now I don't have any more reason not to get a hook up.
If it works, try it.
Just like a Carolina rig just cheaper
Back to basic 🙃
Another forgotten trick!
Thsnks for the heads up!
