Anno Domini is the most excited I have ever been about Sabbath since Dehumanizer, tired of hearing about OZZY this and OZZY that.. it’s time to give the Tony Martin years the attention it deserves after decades of neglect.. Headless Cross, Anno Mundi, Nightwing, Cross of Thorns… the list goes on.. tremendous songs from the most underrated period of the bands history. Tony Martin deserves the respect that he is getting these days.. finally!!
Anno Domini came out today, and Tony's remix of Forbidden changes everything. It's like a whole new album. Amazing job. Definitely, leap-frogs Forbidden up several spots for me.
I remember getting Headless Cross in the mail from the BMG music club not really knowing WTF it was... I played it figuring I would hate it. That album really rekindled my love of Sabbath, as most of my friends had moved on from metal by that time. 🤷🏻♂️ I played Headless constantly and loved it, and bought all of the subsequent albums with Martin. I really had a special relationship with that album. Can't really explain it, but it touched me deeply and totally takes me back to my first girlfriend era... Heather, where are you now?? 😅 Really looking forward to hearing the new remixed set! Great show guys! Much respect to Alo, as I really take notes on his recommendations from other shows. 👋 😎
Love this show! As much as I love the band, it's really just the first two decades of output that I pay attention to, and studio albums only really. Love how dedicate these guys are to the band, it's like listening to the same kind of convos you have with your friends over a drink.
Dave I agree with your choices! Changes was one of my favorite songs for a long time! I love variety in my music even Sabbath. Tony Martin albums were amazing! The only reason they didn't sell well was because metal in general was not popular then!
Brilliant episode guys, and what a top bloke Dave is! Good to see Chris' favourite Sabbath song hasn't changed, it's also mine too, although with so many amazing tunes it's not an easy choice. I haven't heard Forbidden yet, but will do whenever I get around to buying that (expensive) Tony Martin boxset. Keep up the great work lads!
Such a fun show! Dave is a great guest on the channel. I actually really like No Stranger To Love. I do agree it was the absolute worst choice they could’ve made for the single from the album. But the vibe and vocals are fantastic on the song. Changes isn’t one of my favorite Sabbath tunes but I know a ton of folks who love it. I’m gonna need to revisit the Tony Martin stuff if only to see how I feel about Forbidden
All good! Always like what you like, always! That goes for you too Nostradamus. But hey, I also HATE tuna fish! But I don't want to take tuna fish away from anyone that likes it!
@@chrisalo2989 I'll have you know that I love both tuna fish sandwiches and forbidden. Speaking of it, I think I shall listen to it while eating a tuna fish sandwich. Love & respect Chris, you're an incredible panelist and a big part of the channel, keep it up🤘.
I completely agree. I don’t think it’s a great album but I like it. I like it better than technical ecstasy that’s for sure. When it comes to the song Changes, I gotta go with Pete on that one. I don’t think that belongs in a sabbath album
I completely agree with Dave! Forbidden >>> NSD, TE, 13. Rusty Angels, Forbidden and Kiss of Death are great. Also why was Loser Gets All a bonus track?
Some very good takes on this show. If I'd changed one thing about the history of Black Sabbath (other than a proper reunion studio album in 99/00) it's releasing Eternal Idol with Ray Gillen on vocals during 87. I love the Tony martin era, but I prefer the Gillen versions of this particular album.
Dave……..I just streamed Forbidden while awaiting my box set to be delivered. I’ve never heard it before as I was always put off my the reviews and stupidly never bothered with it. It is, in my opinion hands down better than Never Say Die, really enjoyable and a lot heavier than I expected.

The hate for Never say die always baffles me. When me and my friends started listening to Sabbath in our late teens during the early 90's, Never say die was probably the 3rd cd we heard. You just bought what was in stock at the music store and looked cool. It had bad production but we all liked it. Every one of us. All Ozzy was killer. Only Technical Ecstacy was below par.
I have ordered the Anno Domini CD box set. I never bought the Tony Martin era Black Sabbath albums. I come from the Deep Purple family musicians/bands. Looking forward to hearing the new Forbidden mix. To hear Neil Murray & Cozy Powell locking in together behind the Riff Lord. Health issues in Sabbath fold restricts large scale touring. Perhaps a Black Sabbath family TV live gig should be explored instead, with the singers Tony Martin,Glenn Hughes,Ian Gillan and Rob Halford. I couldn’t see Team Ozzy wanting to appear, but an invitation should be sent non the less. Geezer,Bill,Vinny,Kenny Aronoff.. and Scott Warren on Keyboards.

I wrote this on an official Tony Martin Page. It seemed a little suspicious to me that all of a sudden this " Ozzy Reunion" started coming up. A LOT agreed with me it seemed like a certain "Mrs" was trying to lure away from a Sabbath release that wasn't Ozzy related. The band went under a song title when DIO was in the band because " Legal issues" Unfortunately Geoff Nicholls and Cozy Powell have since passed but there are some members of Sabbath that could still perform The Tony Martin songs. They milked Ozzfest reunions ( I even walked out in 04 cause I thought they were phoming it in!) Dio came back and made the band great again. Check out the reviews of the New Forbidden remix. I think a Tony Martin reunion is due now!
Dave - listen, I’ve been a long time viewer of this channel, I’ve heard a lot of questionable takes on here, but the collective SoT take that Changes is a bad song is the WORST most diabolically insane take that this channel has ever produced. Really enjoying the show until we got to 'Never Say Die'. I don't care what you guys say I like the album, especially side one. The title track, Johnny Blade, Junior's Eyes & Hard Road are all killer. Admittedly, side two is a bit too experimental but I liked when I heard it in 1978 still like it in 2024.
