It was definitely worth the effort to get those weird ripples out of the chassis. Most people wouldn't have bothered but it really made a difference in the finish. Looks awesome man.
It looks great compared to what it did look like and yeah, it is the chassis so its not as important as the cabin. I found when i built my EH that i spent way to much time (and money) on things that didn't really matter and couldnt even be seen. If i did it again id finish in half the time and spend a lot less money. But its your build, you do you. Whatever makes you happy. Great video, look forward to seeing the next. Hopefully it be to long.
Looks fantastic Sammy 👌 👍 Think sometimes it just happens with fish 🐟 eye's 👀.. I remember painting a full car 🚗 yrs ago having fish eye's all over the panels.. I think sometimes it's actually in the mate Sam.. Bcs I did the same as you blocked everything back and it still come out again.. Purchased a different quantity of paint reblocked it back applied the final coat with the new mixed up paint no fish eyes were present 😀 👌
Just a suggestion, with you number plate bracket maybe cut the corners off so they match the angles that you did at the tail lights. Just a small suggestion. Good work none the less, this whole build has been really good.
Hey mate, chassis looks great, peel is a bother, but that could just be the product. When it comes to "fish eyes", they can be caused by 1] equipement, 2] environment or 3] products used. 1] equipment - maybe from compressor, but you have gone above and beyond to stop that, maybe also REALLY clean out your guns and run lacquer thinner through your air hose. 2] Environment - do you have any silicone products in the shed? Interior cleaners like amour all, tyre shine or engine shine materials, if so, remove them from the shed and use those products elsewhere. Also could have come from a neighbour, from your work, hard to say, but try to eliminate as much as you can. Products - some products dont work well together, or can react. When I go to spray, I use a water borne cleaner first, it helps to remove silicone, oils and grease from parts, then I use a wax and grease remover to finalise cleaning. You can get silicone drops for paint, this helps to reduce "fish eyes", just a few drops in each pot before you spray, mix in and go. Another tip is when you do get them, let the paint "flash off", then DUST light coats (generally 3 or 4) over the "fish eyes", let that flash off, then 1 med coat, then refinsih as normal. Hope this helps. Looking great though, I follow this series with enthusiasm, always good to see an old girl come back to life.
Check out Howard Astills X Boss build. Some of his latest videos on the build have a masterclass on placing finishing touches on the paintwork. The orange peel on yours isn’t even that bad but 🤷♂️ I’ve also seen people remove runs with a razor with good effect, but they did have to run over it with the gun.
Hey mate the "little fish eyes" are caused from silicon, because you polish and paint in the same area the silicon will be everywhere and thats what causes it.
Recently used a new batch of KBS and had exactly the same issue with the dots, used it the past with the same process and had excellent results maybe something had changed on their end with making it idk.
Great music. I can't believe you're still using KBS. A year back I tried to convince you to abandon the brand, every product of theirs has failed on me. Stick with proved/ppg 2 PAC epoxy. I also spray an air hose in a container to confirm no water in the airlines. My compressor is in the cool shed and pulls moisture out of the air constantly.
"Home Built By Jeff" gets runs out with a razor blade and masking tape on the left and right edges to cut the run out. Haven't tried it out myself though. Link: ua-cam.com/video/CEm4i0DvKiA/v-deo.html
1 ute, 1 guy, almost 10,000 subs! That pretty damn impressive mate.
Thanks Mate. Appreciate it

Cheers Mate. It come up pretty nice and happy I spent that time on it
Chassis looks fantastic in my opinion, substantially better than factory 👌🏼 keep it up!
Cheers Buddy. Agree it looks heaps better then factory.
the fish eyes are from your air compressor. you can buy auto drains that plumb in... use a filter on your spray gun as well
Good to see more progress it won't hurt to sand back and re apply the black where the run is
Chasing perfection is always gonna be difficult.
It's certainly better than what most people, including myself can do. Goodluck.
100% Mate. I think there has to be a point you draw a line. Otherwise builds are just going to go on forever
Looks mint mate it is a chassis dont stress i would have bben stoked i painted it
Really glad to see you making progress :)>>. Can’t wait to see it rolling into some local meets :)>>>
Hopefully not long now Mate
Looks great, and good to see another video out.
Thanks Mate. Took a while I know. Apologies

You could always just use a 2k black if you want a glossy flat finish.
Yep I agree. Should of just used a 2K black

Nice work. Guess you won't be ready for this Rocky Nat's?
Great vid again. What are you thinning the paint with and to what ratio?? Just interested !!
WTF with the carrot and the blow fish......... LMFAO
Hahaha I was waiting for someone to comment on that
Try Some Anti Silicone Drops to remove the fisheyes

hey mate look at a vid from the GUNMAN on how to remove run in paint it`s easy as
Thanks Mate. Will have a look
👏🍺👍🏻
Bummer about the chassis finish, why are you respraying the cab, mate?
Respraying the cab as there are a few things wrong with the paint unfortunately
@@ShenkeGarage perfectionism is a curse during the course but a blessing in the end 👌
