Hard question: When you place a battery into the VC8, Lithium ion or
NiMH appears, right? What does it mean if the battery type is flashing
during charge? The manual doesn't mention that.

Help me understand what power supply (brick) is necessary... 5V:::2A/9V:::2A... Do I need that exact output on a power brick? Or is it okay to mismatch these specifications?

The only bummer of this unit is the capacity testing... 300ma discharge is weak

not much of a review if you don't actually use it before the video.More of just an Un boxing and reading the instructions.still liked the video since i wanted to see what the product looked like out of the box.thanks

I agree, I came here looking for a review, it is more like an instructable showing how to insert the batteries.

If you only have 2 amps input how can this charge 8 batteries more than 250ma each?

Simple, 9V & 2A input with a 4.2V output equals a maximum (theoretical at 100% efficiency) amperage of 4.3A. The charger only needs to be c. 50% efficient to reach 8x250mA=2A at 4.2V so easy to reach/exceed, however 8x500mA=4A would require 93% efficiency and I imagine only potentially achievable under optimal circumstances and when all batteries are in the CC part of their charge.

Alright, just bought him at local webstore.. everything loox ok but when i connected my usb multimeter i saw a very strange current behaviour, the same as my other charger yonii-d2 (thought it was defective, that was why i went after vc8). The current fluctuates (i have 6 AA ni-mh in) with voltage at 9.06V when charged with 500mA about 0.29A to 0.62A.. it changes rapidly.. is this normal behaviour?? I thought that ni-mh is charged CC-CV (constant current constant voltage)

Is it better in most all ways than the Zanflare C4? Thank you, keep up your thorough, extensive and helpful video reviews 👍

@@TheSmokinApe Hopefully soon they'll send you a Zanflare C4 to review. Maybe it's not so good if you've never used it. Have you ever even heard of it? Thanks, Prost

@@TheSmokinApe thanks for the reply. I figured it did but just wanted to verify. Any plans to review the Efest LUC V8 Double LCD Screen Fast Battery Charger?

I can add it to the list and see if I can get it in 👍

@@TheSmokinApe I'd be interested in seeing a good review for it as well as the new Efest Luc V4.
I currently am using a Gryfalcon 88-8 as my primary charger and am looking to add another 8 bay to the mix and so my top of the list are another 88-8 , This Xtar, or the Efest V8 I inquired about.
I like being able to charge many 21700 cells at once with optional charging rates, so if you have any alternate suggestions I am open to hearing them.

Pretty much useless unboxing. A review would have tested cut off current, charging amps, correct selection of charging amps, will it accept a totally damaged battery, can it nurse a slightly overdischarged battery back to life, etc...
