I wish there was a small personal/portable version of these like a paper shredder. I have unusable clothing that I would love to be able to shred and use as stuffing for crafts

@Damian Lopez Trust her when she says unusable, you have no idea what condition her clothes are in.

We're a textile recycling/reuse org and although we work in part as an activist org to promote more reuse, it is distribution we lack, thus recycle is better than landfill. For those going on and on about how awful this is, you are obviously out of touch with reality. If you really think this is a big issue, do something about it!
It is easy to say everyone is doing a bad thing but why don't you support the solution and offer time or $ to help distribute for reuse, PM us for info...

What an absolute waste. And those bags looked like donated goods! I'm sure the do gooders would be pleased to know their donated clothes and shoes were thrown in a shredder to head to the landfill!

I am sure the person(s) who donated these items would be heartbroken if they knew they would all end up being shredded and destroyed.
It doesn't have to be this way. Do a search for the video "Recycle for Wiltshire - textiles" to see how donated clothes can be RE-USED by others rather than shrededed and destroyed.

Simply put, developed nations discard far more textiles/footwear than will *ever be usable* by the needy in the rest of that country or world. Particularly "fast fashion" has permeated every sector to the point where even countries in Africa (who get last pickin's of our well-meaning donated clothes) have little to no resale value, because they also recognize those items will not last beyond a few wears.

I think once its been shredded they could use it as oll dry or as feul to a electric company just like they use tires for fuel for power companys.

We are interested in this type of shredder to recycle soft toys. We collect bulk soft toys from thrift orgs in So Cal and after we sort the new to be used through children’s orgs, we reclaim the polyfill from the remaining items to be recycled and used to make blankets and other types of insulation.
Your shredder looks like a perfect fit for this application!
Does that outlet usually have a compactor bin attached?
    Great design with minumal handling!

    Well meaning
clueless person who says these clothes need to go to Goodwill. Your recycle place can only sell 15 % of the donations they get. Another 15% goes to 3rd world, where it competes with that country’s struggling fashion industry. That puts 70% in a landfill somewhere. The recycle center needs to shred textiles for more recycle uses.

the reason for it is because the clothes were not in reusable condition for resale so the y are shredded and then melted up into pellets and then made into new clothes
