Even with the Vancouver fuel stop, PAL is still the fastest option for Manila to NYC. The A350's more humid cabin is a big help with this very long distance.
The first plane I remember flying on was a PAL 747-400 back in the 90s when we immigrated to the US. And bitter-sweetly, the last 747 I’ve flown on was a PAL domestic flight from CEB-MNL. Mabuhay to the queen of the skies!
True. The 747-400 is now unfortunately retired. One of the reasons for this is PAL434. Unfortunately in the flight, a bomb was set in the 747-200B and blew up 4 hours after the bomber put it under seat. It killed a row (Row 4-K) mid flight. Good news that it survived by landing at Japan, Narita Airport.
I have flied Philippines from London to Manila . Yeah triple seven! Best flight ever! Also from Milan to Manila. That time with 340. Excellent flight. Thank You so so much Philippine!!!
As far as i know, PR never fly to mainland Europe because the route between Europe to Manila are low yield and weak O&D demand. Instead, the travelers choose one stop connecting flight in Dubai, Doha, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and etc. PR doesn't stand chance to compete with other airlines like Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways and etc for Manila to Europe market.
As a lucky kiddo who has flown on the 747 and the A340, I can say that the crew are friendly and accommodating. I also love the little design elements that they incorporate to have that traditional motif.
I remembered that my Mom flew with several other retired PAL aircrafts like the 747-400 and the A340-300, sad that I didn't get to see these behemoths with the Nation's flag, but, she was surprised that she flew on aircrafts that have been retired. Also, her last flight with PAL is an A330-300.
The airline will always be very close to me. Living in Hawaii, I always loved flying on the A330 to visit family in the Philippines. Also had the chance to fly on the 747-400 which was an amazing experience.
I set out on a flight from Davao to Sydney, Australia, and herein lies the story. The plane left Davao headed for Manila approximately two hours late due to weather delays. My connecting flight was due to leave Manila just under an hour before my plane landed there. To my total surprise and overwhelming relief, PAL staff were waiting and rushed through Manila airport and onto the plane that they had keep waiting for my arrival. The plane arrived in Sydney at its scheduled arrival time. THAT IS SERVICE SECOND TO NONE !!!
For new planes, it makes more sense for PR to go with the 350 instead of the 777x both for range (Same reason for SQ given the geography) and for type rating/CCQ with the a320 family and a330, two planes that will never be given up given how important they are for domestic routes. Just that right now, the 77W makes sense just as much as it does for everyone else.
I have been a fan of aviation for a long time and have been watching your channel for quite some time now. Guess what? This is exactly what i have been waiting. Thank you!
In a short to mid term perspective, the A350s would be the viable solution given that it is already in production and PAL has been using it which is already familiar to its pilots. Although, it is no denying that 777s are vital in the operations and growth of the airline because of its good mix of capacity and range. Moving forward, with the aircraft that they currently have, I think that the airline should focus more on revamping their cabin products especially on their 777s and narrow bodies.
I know live here in Canada but before I moved with my family, we used Philippine Airlines if we don’t go through any layovers. Always the nice 777 from Vancouver to Manila, though the seats are a bit lower compared to other carriers I’ve been to like Korean Air. Would like to fly other aircraft of Philippine Airlines especially the A350 and A330s.
Took my first vacation to the Philippines on Philippine Airlines from Toronto to Manila and back. Can’t really compare with other airlines as this is was my first time flying but my experience was great with them. The legroom was good, the flight attendants were nice and the food was really tasty. Will definitely fly with them again on my next vacation.
Just recently flown with them from DOH-MNL with their A330. it's comfortable and the crew is really friendly. Great food too for Premium Economy Class passengers! Their A330s in the Middle East don't have Onboard Internet Wifi though.

I am a Filipino citizen and I work in the UAE. I always look forward to the days when I get to board our flag carrier, PAL! This route however is serviced by their 777 fleet. Anyway, I hope that they will consider adding the Dreamliner in their fleet especially if cost-cutting is concerned hand-in-hand with modernization. Glad that they are considering the 777x though, and hopefully they'll consider getting those new Airbus Wide Body and Long Range planes coming up too!
I flew with them from Vancouver to Manila in April and it was a very pleasant experience, both ways. I'm happy though they didn't drop the New York and Toronto services during restructuring, which was one possibility they were exploring. When I go in 2023, I hope to go from Toronto instead.
I just got off my Philippine Airlines flight a few hours ago. The flight was from BNE to MNL on flight number 222 on an Airbus A321-271N registered RP-C9936. It has the refurbished cabin interior. It departed from Brisbane at 11:00 am and arrived at 5:30 pm on 16/12/23.
I do hope to fly in PAL by next year, they are aiming again serve again Baguio City Loakan Airport, the destination of their first ever flight by Christmas 2022 but this time it will be from Cebu instead of Manila.
Would really love to see a B777X fleet for Pal as it could increase its passenger capacity and have the same range as their current B773 though the timeline delivery would be a bit of a problem if ever they would really order.
I'm so excited - I can't wait to experience the new fleet of Philippine Airlines! I've heard amazing stories from friends who've flown with them before and can't wait to experience it myself.
I remember flying with PAL (Philippine Airlines) to Manila around June in 2015 (before my class starts), together with my cousin. That trip was to go to my relatives and there is any important papers that are related for me. The first PAL aircraft (to Manila) was an A320ceo (with a residue on a L1 door, presumably used for the Philippine president/Vice president). It was my first time to fly that plane with an overhead IFE, since me and my relatives usually flew only without IFE on board. Also on board, the food choices were small and instead eating a Quaker snack bar, I drink only a coffee, even I was 14 years old at that time. Also at the same time, I have a problem of my ears. I carefully wear their headphone and didn’t volume up the audio so my ears won’t be hurt or whatsoever.I also found out that the earphone that I have is different from the ones the airline provide (I thought they didn’t provide, but I was wrong). The second PAL aircraft (back to Davao) was their (then) new A321ceo. It was my first flight with a stretcher variant of the A320 family & it has a Shakrlet. I was disappoint to see that they don’t have an IFE on board (except for Business Class that the airline provide an Ipad). Even it was a disappointment flight, at least it wasn’t another A320ceo’s. Also, I order the same beverage (of course a coffee).
Your trip report was fantastic, thank you! I recently came across your Qantas trip report from HKG to SYD, which was also very enjoyable. It's unfortunate that PAL’s food was only average on this flight. When I flew with them before Covid from MNL to MEL, the food was actually quite impressive. They even served ice cream between dinner and breakfast. Once again, thank you for sharing your wonderful trip report.

My first flight with PAL was aboard a BAC One Eleven on the MNL-LGP route in the late 80's. Also rode their 737 300s also on the MNL-LGP route back in 1992. Rode a couple 747s. First the MNL-BNE in 1995 and finally on a domestic from MNL-DVO in 2011.
I have flown on Philippine Airlines three of the four times I have visited the Philippines. All my flights have been PR113 and PR112 LAX-MNL and MNL- LAX. My last trip was the worse experience I had with Philippine Airlines and probably be my last time using the airlines they informed me Friday morning that my Monday flight on PR112 has changed to the Airbus 330 which had a technical stop in Seoul when I found out Friday morning I reached out to the Airlines all weekend long trying to figure out how I was going to make my flight to Las Vegasand told them that I would miss my flight from LAX to LAS because of this change and they told me don't worry when you get to LAX they'll be a in Transit person will help you but when I got there there was nobody there to help me. I spent an extra $400 on the supposedly non-stop flights not a technical stop that I booked back in April but did I get anything from Philippine Airlines all I got was a stinking sorry excuse apology email from the airlines.
Yes, they have a habit of telling you things that aren't true, they think being 1hr to 2 hrs late is being on time, always remember PAL means Planes always late, they care nothing about costumer service
Here's the reason, the 777 was maintenance at Middle East and sometimes at Lufthansa Technik Philippines, in fact PAL operates as Domestic of 777 to Cebu, Davao and General Santos in Mindanao, and operates to other countries like Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, China and many more
And amazingly only had one casualty. It was a man made bomb left by the terrorist in the plane. This is the reason why from then on they dont allow passengers to take liquids on to their hand carry luggages. But im proud as how the pilots handled the situation even with a damaged aircraft and wing they were able to land the passengers safely in Okinawa.
@@MysteriousChase092 I agree. And also I just got back from a vacation a day ago where I flew both ways and I wondered why they make you take away liquids from your hand carry. Your comment answered my question, so thanks!
No disrespect intended, but I wish they would dress up the "Philippines" with a more dynamic font or coloring. Make it larger, possibly, like the way Pan Am did with their billboard livery. The tail and winglets are magnificent though. 🌈✨️
They made a difference on the "Philippines". If you would search on their A320 RP-C8613, you would see the difference in the title's size as compared to their other aircraft.
Woah, I've not heard of this MNL-ICN-LAX-HNL-MNL route by A330s. I was under the impression MNL-LAX was direct and exclusively served by 777s. And I guess I'd fly the A330 ones as I believe they are newer and they have a premium economy product at least.
It's a temporary aircraft with the stopover, because the 777 was maintenance at Lufthansa Technik Philippines, sometimes flies to Amman, Middle East for Maintenance and operates to the other countries like Hong Kong, Narita, Melbourne, Sydney and many more including Cebu, Davao, and General Santos operating as Domestic and Cargo Operations
instead of giving up 4 of it's brand new A350-900 wide body jets the Philippine full service carrier should have retired half of it's A330-300 & A320-200 fleet . . .
I used to fly to manila yearly for 5 years flow PAL on 777 a340 a320 neo I have been on a triple seven from Vancouver to Manila and reverse so many times 4 times in business class pretty good
@@WRic86well the A330's is a temporary aircraft, why? Because the 777's was operate to other countries like Thailand, Hong Kong, Narita, Haneda, Incheon, and the Domestic Operations to Cebu, Davao and General Santos in Mindanao, and then the 777 was maintenance before operates the long haul flight
A lot happened, the final nail for the route was the Russia/Ukraine situation. The route has been loss making for years and they've tried everything, from using fuel efficient aircraft, shorter flight times, better timing at London, but the effect of the pandemic and Russia ultimately sealed the flight.
Philippines has a best strategic location they should take advantage for that specially actions from our govt.. pal will be the beneficial for that.. lets help our flag carrier to come up again and ihope pal will upgrade their fleets and services
PAL actually has two daily flights between Manila and Los Angeles --- the nightly PR102/103 service is a nonstop flight using a B777-300ER, while the daytime PR112/133 service uses a mix of B777s (operated nonstop) and A330s (operated via ICN eastbound and via HNL westbound ... both ICN and HNL are just refueling stops).
Well, the A330's is a temporary aircraft while the 777 was flying to the other countries and operates as cargo and domestic operations. The 777 aircraft was operates as domestic and other airline destination operations of the following: PR453/PR454: MNL-GES-MNL PR1815/PR1816: MNL-DVO-MNL, PR1812/PR1813: MNL-CEB-MNL, PR730/PR731: MNL-BKK-MNL, PR300/301 & PR307/PR308: MNL-HKG-MNL, PR336/337: MNL-PVG-MNL, PR221/222: MNL-BNE-MNL, PR209/210: MNL-MEL-MNL, PR211/212: MNL-SYD-MNL and PR468/469: MNL-ICN-MNL
Even with the Vancouver fuel stop, PAL is still the fastest option for Manila to NYC. The A350's more humid cabin is a big help with this very long distance.
per Flightradar 24, Manila to NYC is nonstop, it's the NYC to Manila they stop in Vancouver

I would really love to see a new PAL livery. This is so outdated and long-overdue. The tail is okay. Maybe just adjust the color or something. 🙏🏼🇵🇭
@@leonardsindayen2458 The font size changed. Just look for RP-C8613 then compare it to other PAL aircraft.
Mahal magpa pintura, yun lang yun.
Can you also do a deep dive on Cebu Pacific's fleet? Thank you 😊
I flew AMS-DOH-CEB. the DOH-CEB was with the 777-300.
my first international flight in1982 was the 747 mnl-hnl-lax
PAL has interesting fleets and routes indeed. Could you please do any updates on fleets of Garuda and where they fly these days? I am lost with them.
Thank you for exploring PAL
I hope you peek into Cebu Pac's fleet. I know many people want to see the all economy A330 neo.
Woah, I've not heard of this MNL-ICN-LAX-HNL-MNL route by A330s. I was under the impression MNL-LAX was direct and exclusively served by 777s. And I guess I'd fly the A330 ones as I believe they are newer and they have a premium economy product at least.
they use the 330's on that route when they don't have enough 777's
It's a temporary aircraft with the stopover, because the 777 was maintenance at Lufthansa Technik Philippines, sometimes flies to Amman, Middle East for Maintenance and operates to the other countries like Hong Kong, Narita, Melbourne, Sydney and many more including Cebu, Davao, and General Santos operating as Domestic and Cargo Operations
What happened to PAL's Manila to London route?
Why did they replace the a330s with CF6 engines? All of their a330s have Trent engines
U forgot about pal’s a350 and 777-300er routes to europe like greece, paris, frankfurt, etc.
Their current fleet is nice, but sometimes I miss their old fleet from the 90s (737s, A300s, 747s, DC-10s, Fokker 50s)
Please also review Cebu Pacifics Fleet.
Mabuhay!
nice profile pic. MABUHAY ANG PHILIPPINE AIRLINES
Do Cebu Pacific or AirAsia Philippines
Can you do a review as well in Cebu Pacific 🙏
Do Cebu Pacific next please
i remember during 80's going to Hong Kong taking the love Bus Logo using Airbus 600B
I hope you can add chapters on your next video thanks
believe it or not, they actually use their widebodies for domestic services, e.g PR454/453
Kelan kaya magkakaron ang pinas ng A-380 Airbus?
instead of giving up 4 of it's brand new A350-900 wide body jets the Philippine full service carrier should have retired half of it's A330-300 & A320-200 fleet . . .
I remember flying with 747 from Cebu to Manila 😃
I used to fly to manila yearly for 5 years flow PAL on 777 a340 a320 neo I have been on a triple seven from Vancouver to Manila and reverse so many times 4 times in business class pretty good
My last flight to JFK from MNL was in 2019, on an A350. The best ever.
Please do SAS
PR112 and PR113 are actually on a 77W and go nonstop between MNL and LAX.
Not if their short of planes, then they use an A330(That's not nonstop, but they don't tell you, then you miss your other flights, & Pal doesn't care)
@@WRic86well the A330's is a temporary aircraft, why? Because the 777's was operate to other countries like Thailand, Hong Kong, Narita, Haneda, Incheon, and the Domestic Operations to Cebu, Davao and General Santos in Mindanao, and then the 777 was maintenance before operates the long haul flight
what happened to the Manila-London route???
A lot happened, the final nail for the route was the Russia/Ukraine situation. The route has been loss making for years and they've tried everything, from using fuel efficient aircraft, shorter flight times, better timing at London, but the effect of the pandemic and Russia ultimately sealed the flight.
Theyre planning to reinstate that route nxt year for 23
I love the Philippines airlines❤
3:27-3:51 you forgot Jakarta and Bali. 9:00-9:10 none because it's not very possible at this time
how bout MNL - TORONTO??
No way I'm flying PAL again! It's ridiculously annoying how they do security checks - not very consistent!
But here the part you're not tell, they sell Pal 112/113 as nonstop flights, so if you have to catch another flight, (they don't care) your screwed!!
Well, the A330's is a temporary aircraft while the 777 was flying to the other countries and operates as cargo and domestic operations.
The 777 aircraft was operates as domestic and other airline destination operations of the following:
PR453/PR454: MNL-GES-MNL
PR1815/PR1816: MNL-DVO-MNL,
PR1812/PR1813: MNL-CEB-MNL,
PR730/PR731: MNL-BKK-MNL,
PR300/301 & PR307/PR308: MNL-HKG-MNL,
PR336/337: MNL-PVG-MNL, PR221/222: MNL-BNE-MNL, PR209/210: MNL-MEL-MNL, PR211/212: MNL-SYD-MNL and PR468/469: MNL-ICN-MNL
Do Cebu pacific
