That's a beautiful image David. I've always liked the Cygnus loop, both as a wide field target and when zooming in on the different components. I captured the Eastern Veil with my Red Cat51 and ASI585MC OSC camera based grab and go rig two weeks ago. I used an L-eNhance filter and although I could only manage just under two hours of data, I was very happy with the result. Given that at 53° N the sky never really got truly dark and there was a 98% lit moon, though this was very low down. The nebular did appear mainly red of course, but was quite detailed . Looking forward to your next video. Clear skies.

Thanks for the comment. I always debate how much info is too much info, glad you found it valuable!

@@AstroDNAObservatory I am thinking about getting into astrophotography. I have a Meade ETX-90 for grab and go, and a Meade ETX-125 for less mobile use. I would appreciate any thoughts you have on sensors that can go into a 1.25 inch eyepiece holder. Of course, more of your advice on software and workflow would be great. I live in a Bortle 7 area, so your thoughts on light pollution filters would also be appreciated. I am starting with the moon, because it overpowers the light pollution, and I will work out from there. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment. Astrophotography can seem challenging at first. Basic choices of equipment are the first challenge. Think about your interests and targets - you may find that there is no single setup that satisfies all your requirements. For example, Lunar, Solar and Planetary are very different from DSOs. astronomy, tools is a great resource. I plan to shift to planetary at the end of the summer - and will talk about how to setup for those targets then. If you are looking to equip ETX125 with a camera - you might consider a used ASI1600 - which would give you a pixel scale of about .67 arc-sec. Perhaps a tad over-sampled, but a good option that would allow narrowband and broadband imaging.Maybe you go with the color version of that camera, which is the ASI294 - again relatively inexpensive on the used market. In terms of software, I love NINA for my session orchestration, SIRIL for my pre-processing and I use Pixinsight for my processing. I have some videos in the tutorial playlist that may be helpful! Cheers - and thanks for commenting!

Thanks so much again for all the information, David! This is really terrific. I just imaged Sh2-91 (sometimes called the "Shadow of the Veil" because it's very similar and is also part of a larger supernova), also on 6/27 (and 6/24)! On bin of the astro if you want to have a look. On another note, my SVX90T is scheduled to come back to me tomorrow! Can't wait to try it out. I'd really love to see you do a mosaic. That would be a great video.

Thanks Greg! Will check out your bin. I should really setup an AstroBin account some day!

@@AstroDNAObservatory I really like AstroBin. It's a great repository and there are lots of features. Looking forward to the Lion!! I've been trying to shoot the Lagoon/Trifid nebulae, but they are so low (and my trees are so high!) that I can only get about 45 min each session. Need a couple of clear nights...

Interesting. I've seen other workflow screens with 40-50 icons that seem to touch every pixel. It might also prove that good equipment with good skies does set you up for success with minimal fuss.

I think we tend to strive for perfection in Astrophotography - and there are sooo many tools and processes available. I generally strive for minimal processing - just what is needed to produce a compelling image that tells a story. Good data is important, and data benefits from good seeing. Equipment does count too, but I really think most modern equipment is really really good. So the number 1 factor is going to be seeing I think.... Thank you for your comment!
