How do I change the earpads of Meze 99 classics.....mine is about to be completely torn..... and I can't find a replacement.....Please help me out as I have to listen to these everyday.........! Please help me....!!
THANK YOU! I own the Neos and have been watching videos tonight to find an alternative closed pair with flatter bass. I think I will try this first, as I like most of the other aspects of the Neos. A little brightening wouldn't hurt either. Very useful stuff! Please do other reviews of closed cans, for those of us who need them. :)
pads saved my pc headset. the pleather once made the bass fart out unbearably. i just changed them because i didnt like them but i noticed it cut so much low end. im not a headphone nerd by any stretch so i was surprised and pleases@@buonassi
Other than this weird reddish hue on your color grade pretty great review mate. Love the graphs. I have tested the Meze 99 classics and the only things I didn't like were the small pads and the kinda dark highs. I had the hm5 velours laying around but didn't think to try them. Looks like I need to try this asap. Keep up the good work.
Very nice review. Despite the fact that one is open and the other is closed, how do you compare, in terms of sound, the Meze Neo (with the stock pads) to the HD650? Thanks in advance.
I got 99 Noire paired with clean 887 amp, they are bass cannon but in a good way, I wanted that sound when I was young basshead but cant find it or have money for it
Hey DMS3 TV! First of all I just wanted to congratulate you on the outstanding quality of your videos, for a relatively small channel you're putting out content that puts to shame plenty of much bigger channels - so good call with your change to a more flexible upload schedule :) I was wondering if you would consider making a video specifically about (DAC/)amping the HD 6XX. With the latest drop I'm sure there will be plenty of new people, myself included, interesting in how to get the most out of them from budget through to higher end rigs. Thanks heaps and keep up the great work! Subbed.
Thanks I really appreciate it! I feel like making the quality as high as possible is super important. That would be a cool video. I'm planning on making an "amp selection guide" at some point in a month or so.
I stood in a store today for an hour, testing this set on my phone and I noticed that the pads kinda squeeze my jaw to a point where its uncomfortable. I don't know if they would get stretched out in time, or what, but for long gaming or listening sessions these aren't for me. Which is a shame cause they sounded nice.
Great video, I was thinking about getting a new pair of headphones that would sound as a Upgrade to my, Takstar pro80 and (mostly I want better mids and a bit less of treble). After your review i was thinking about going with Neos but then I found other options: Sennheiser momentum 2.0 // really looking into these Meze 99 Neo SoundMagic HP150 Shure SRH840 Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Which one would be the best sounding upgrade for desktop use. I listen to a lot of slow electronic music with slow bass, chill instrumental music with a lot of vocals and alternative/classic rock. Which ones would you recommend?
Personally I've had less hands on time with a few of those. I know I personally enjoyed the Neo but the people in my discord group might be able to provide more insight into other options.
i did, sounds pretty good. lowers the bass very significantly but still with good tone. I don't like how they fit or look on the cups though (pretty big at like 111 x 96 mm). tried brainwavz velors, they do not reduce bass nearly as much, but fit much better (110 x 90 mm) ... can't decide... tried yaxi StPads2, they are... fine I guess, slightly reduced bass, kinda shallow pads and cheapo not great foam for 40$ A couple other options are Dekoni pads for M50x (comes in every material type) they are appropriately sized at about 100 x 80 mm. I tried the Jerzee (cloth) variant, but they were still pretty bass heavy. Haven't picked up the velours yet... Shure pads are 110 x 95, brainwavz are 110 x 90. The shure pad dimensions don't seem that much bigger, but the skirt is shaped differently and is looser. I don't like how it sits. Also tried "deafen" cloth pads for m50x from amazon (110x90 just like brainwavz) those sound similar to the brainwavz velors but look better and are softer.
A wired headphone can be as loud as you want, that’s up to how powerful the phone is. That said you shouldn’t listen to any of those headphones loud because you’ll lose your hearing. Also in 2023 I would skip the meze and get an AKG K361 instead.
@@DMS3TV thank you for your reply but I am looking for headphones easy to drive in 32 ohm what would be your suggestion for music what about dt 770 pro will they work for music
To anyone who has bought these… Step 1: Plug in your Neos Step 2: Download “Blood//Water” by Grandson Step 3: Turn volume to 10 Step 4: Make sure your insurance covers ear damage
I splurged on a pair of Meze classics 99 a couple years ago and was worried it was a big gamble, best headphones I have owned in 45 years hands down, killer bass and amaze sound quality and I don't know squat about audiophile sound quality but tbh they blow my Bose, Sennheiser and Sony headphones away big time!
Yeah I know! This video is from 4 years ago. What a kinder, gentler DMS. I actually enjoyed this review and that is crazy 🤪. Anyway, I took your suggestion on velour pads from Brainwaves. Thanks for NOT providing a link. Jeezus. I hope I like these pads DMS, I'm relying on the older, nicer DMS with normal facial expressions. Not the new contorted, head scratching, pissed off DMS of 2021. Wish me luck!
@@DMS3TV Plus blah blah blah, it's all lies. Whatever comes out your mouth, your body language says "I don't give a shit anymore. Look at me, hear me, but do not actually listen to me." Your new disclaimer pre-video playback warns ⚠️ 🤣 viewers to "run, shut down their connection to you and listen to somebody else more qualified" is perhaps the most honest 😉 statement you've made up until this point!
@@DMS3TV Well you were wrong again, PMS. The stock pads are leatherette and soft and supple. I like a dark, wide soundstage. It also creates a great seal and isolation which is important for these light weight standouts. I LOVE the 99 Noir. The 99 Neo came defective with one cup mismatched, like obviously different. So that sucks. But the earpads man, you are so wrong on the switching over to velour. The pads you recommended truly suck and blow ass. Thanks for taking up more of my time to do a return. i really like the intro sound. and that's the only thing that keeps me coming back on a new videos.
Yea I thought about something different but I really like this one so much
Never thought pads change so much in frequency range.
Genuinely a good review, keep up the good work.
Changing pads on any headphone results in pretty noticeable FR changes, usually for the worse. In this case, looks like a good change.

Hi, great video, thanks a lot! What kind of velour pads did you get? What are their dimensions? Cheers!
the colour grading as it is very matching with your colour scheme, it makes your face a bit too reddish. excellent review tho
I am pretty sure I will be getting these, and power them with the Schiit Magni+. Nice to mention the other pads which I'll get to try as well.
What model of pads are you mentioning?
Hey DMS, in your opinion which sounds better this or the Sennheiser Momemtum 3? Pure sound quality wise, not comparing prices of both.
Thank you!

I was thinking so too
Do you prefer this over Akg K553pro for listening music ?
Meze 99 neo vs audeze el 8 c . ?
Sounds like I would like these also. Try the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0, it's almost like a portable HD 650, and it folds up
