About Seinfeld:
Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Often described as "a show about nothing," Seinfeld mines the humor in life's mundane situations like waiting in line, searching for a lost item, or the trials and tribulations of dating. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend; and Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbor, Kramer.

The way Elaine says, "Let me see the card" is priceless.
I'll give you $182 bucks for that look
My mum does that exact same expression when she's unimpressed with something, a sort of fatigued disgust.
like MAYBE it might be redeeming but I highly HIGHLY doubt it. LOL
Should have included the part -- where George says he gave her 91 bucks
That's half the reason I was watching
yepp was waiting

I like how they sit on Kramer's bench to talk it out
The blocking on Seinfeld was always incredible. This is a great example.
"Yeats."
Kramer nailed that line.
The way he paused and looked over.
the best part about this is that he gave her exactly 182 dollars. like what a random amount lmao
Yes! Why don’t the $200 or the $180 ?
So that's where Mark Hoppus came up with 182 from. It got stuck in his unconciousness from this episode.
Jerry told George he can only spend half of what he said. So George gave $91. That's why Jerry had to give $182.
@@Minty_Fresh8 that’s called circular logic and it doesn’t explain anything. My guess is the 182 is because he was trying so hard to go big but not too big so 200 would be too much.
I'll take $182!😂
"Too Gubanatorial" is hilarious.
Best line of the clip for sure
Gubernatorial
@@Simplyveej Thx.
$182 ! , at least Jerry could have rounded it up to $200. 😂
Jews give gifts in increments of $18 .. however I don’t know why the extra $2
Because George would be lucky to come up with the $91, let alone $100.
Jerry's failure was in the presentation. It's not "cash", it's a United States Gift Certificate.
Haha nice 😂
Bahahaha brilliant
ROFL! You, sir, are an absolute genius! What a truly AMAZING idea. You win the internet, my friend 😀
Cash is King, it's the universal gift card that's accepted everywhere and never expires.

@@QuadMochaMatti and what country might that be???
Fr I’d be happy put it in the rest of my savings Or Just buy the expensive food I can never Get.
@@NewWesternFront agreed, this is the way.
I lovethe way Elaine shows Jerry Kramer's card as if she was saying "in your face" LOL!
"This...this is how you do it."
‘’Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such a friend’’
this is probably one of the few, maybe the only instance, when Seinfeld had an emotional heartfelt moment.
The whole "Kramer goes to Hollywood" is one huge emotional rollercoaster... Jerry and George go after him because they cared. The end is very touching.
@@redacted2275 yep! I had a feeling there was another instance of touching moments. They’re so few but they’re absolutely a pleasure.
I think on the DVD commentary for this episode Larry David says something similar
Don't forget when she comes back from her trip and they all scream and hug and say they missed her! That's the cutest moment of their friendship for me!
I'm watching the entire show, and to me it's the only heartfelt moment so far :-p
Kramer adjusted Yeats poem ...,"and say my glory was I had such FRIENDS," making a direct mention to just "a FRIEND." Great touch Cosmo!
Doesn’t feel complete without George saying he gave her $91
Jerry is STILL living up to what Kramer called him a few videos ago..."You're a John"
Thats the deal for guys. Isn't it?
Kramer: oh the relationship!!🤣
03:36 open door.
03:41 door closed.
03:53 open door.
The ending made it seem like they were gonna get together, but next episode they weren't together anymore and it was never mentioned again lol
Because it was the end of this series and Larry realised they had nowhere to go if they made jerry and Elaine a couple
I loved that Seinfeld wasnt emotional like others
Its easy to add an emotional angle to keep the audience hooked. But Seinfeld was so funny that it nevr needed one
It was a pure sitcom in every sense
Thats y it stands out and it will always be the best
it was all about funny
They were reprehensible people.
It’s quite a trick to make reprehensible people so likable. I’m not sure how emotional they were but I’m guessing that was muted by the …reprehensing…😅
Actually this was the one time it did get into drama territory with Elaine being upset jerry was distancing himself from her via lousy present and card.
These early episodes are almost like a 'real' show, where it's doing character development. What makes later seasons funny is they don't develop at all.
It was a conscious decision on Larry David’s part that’s why the show’s unofficial slogan is No hugging No learning
Jerry can't do gifts . The Cadillac for his parents, also started a fight
Wow, forgot this scene. Jerry got completely and thoroughly OWNED by Kramer here lmao
yea but jerry banged her, and kramer had a comedy set he can't live down
In real life, Kramer would have earned that booty
To a wonderful girl, a great pal, and more. 😂
The way JLD says "pal" is everything. EVERYTHING.
"And more!" 😆
"No hugging, no learning..." well, mostly...
This scene couldn’t have been more perfect!
Kramer Hit Just The Right Note! Kramer Was The Heart Beat Between The Four Of Them!
nah, jerry banged her tho, and she loved jerry... she said so when they would crash... jerry banged her again just to save the friendship... kramer had a bad comedy set
One more reason the finale was so heinous. Kramer would have tried to help the guy getting mugged; he tried to help everybody. He should have hung out more with his other friends, like Bob Sakamano. These three were toxic, and bad luck for him.
I’d take $182 happily 😂
Cash is King, it's the universal gift card.
Me too! 🤣
I might retire.
That's worth like $400 in today's money
what is a potato going to do with cash?
Elaine reading the Yeats quote from Kramer's gift card and her reaction is one of the very few genuinely heartfelt moments on the show.
In the first two or three seasons the characters are not zombies.
Yeah, in the episode where Elaine is trying to see a doctor for her rash, Kramer doesn't even know her last name and she calls him a jackass. It's weird how they lose a lot of the heart they showed in the earlier seasons.
It's called acting.
@@toolrocks10
That's why I said "characters".
Agreed, they were definitely more rounded characters early on and the show had real heart. Eventually they just became sitcom caricatures. Well-written and well-acted caricatures, but less warmth.
Larry David was adamant that the show had ,"no hugging, no morals"
Another one of those hidden gem episodes
When I rewatched Seinfeld couple weeks ago again, and this scene came up, I was laughing at What are you... my Uncle? But when Kramer looked at Jerry, and said Yeats with that smile, I died laughing.... love this show!
It's Yeats.
@@lukasnummer1 sorry caption said Yates, i'll change it and edit it
@DaSkarekrow lol you don't need to reply to these fools that are nit-picking like this 🤣 Don't give them the satisfaction, just edit your mistake and proceed in life👍
@@billblaski9523
It's not nit-picking; Yeats is one of the world's most famous poets.
Bench and Yates 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣kramer 👍🏼👍🏼
Jerry joked that Elaine would hire a team of experts to analyze his gift.
Ta-da! What he really should have joked was that one day there would be a comment section on UA-cam that will do it instead.
This scene is so weird since Seinfeld never had those serious emotional sitcom moments. I think this was the only one.
Lol right? Any other episode, Elaine would have happily accepted that 182 bucks with no complaints, I guess cus it was just the story of this episode. Luckily next episode they went back to friends with no mention of this episode ever again
In first few seasons Jerry wouldn’t stop smiling during scenes Lol
He had this problem throughout the entire show honestly, he's just not a good actor.
@@nossenkanter honestly, his bad acting makes the show even better
Yeh I never understood why people criticised jerry's alleged bad acting, this was a sitcom, bad acting just makes it even funnier, it's the one genre where that is a plus.
His acting adds to the show.
@@cozierferret7274yess
Jerry should have gotten Elaine a cigar store Indian to counter Kramer's bench.
She's not native American after all.
The Indian came up in a later episode.
"too stereotypical"
The fact they sat on the bench is a nice detail, so funny.
If people wouldn't make such a big deal out of meaningless things they wouldn't be disappointed.
The expression on her face after opening the box ans she goes " Let me see the card" !
Fatigued disgust, my mum does that exact same expression when she's unimpressed by something.
He may be a hipster dufus but he sure is thoughtful
He has his moments
So is Newman at times, like when he helped Kramer get Pam.
William Butler Yeats died in France, but buried in County Sligo. Ireland, fantastic place, beautiful views of the mountains and the best graveyard. All of the best Celtic crosses anywhere I’ve ever seen.
Cash carries the implied idea that you gave up.
You thought about them. And then decided to stop because it was too much effort.
exactly
Or that you never tried
So true
🤡🤡🤡
cash is the best materialistic gift anyone could possibly give me. I would respect a person more if they gifted me that
cash isn’t a bad gift
That's $371 in 2021. Just wait until 2022 it'll be like $500.00.
More like $1.82, by that point.
Elaine - masterful acting! Jerry was good himself...
The writing, the actors, the chemistry, flawless.
I swear I watched the entire series. How come I have zero recollection of this episode?
Tbh 182$ back then was about 400$ today. Kinda a good gift lol
George: What am I supposed to get her, bazooka? at 0:18 lol
So weird, in the earlier seasons Jerry and Elaine weren't dead inside yet.
Actually they mostly were. These couple of episode s felt off, because there was too much emotion
fortunately they grew out of it.
Kramer: “ohhh… the relationship” lol
2:33 So well delivered!
You don't realize until you get a girlfriend what a nightmare birthdays are! 🤣
Truest comment ever

@@thisisnotmyname4700 Oh please. Our wives could give us a bone for our birthday and we would still be happy

JERRY, YOU BLEW IT!!!!!
Lara's theme I'm dead😂😂😂
Everyone was so good in this scene
Yatessss!!!... Jerry almost burst out laughing
He gave her 420 bucks in todays dollars its definitely nothing to sneeze at
Today it would be an Amazon gift card instead of cash, since you can buy virtually anything on there, lol.
I don't know why Elaine was so disappointed, I like to receive cash and also regularly gift cash.
@@nahor88 or starbucks lmfao. got about 5 of those from ppl this last xmas

George Castanza (Jason Alexander), was the staple of humor in Seinfeld. Definitely underrated.
Uncle Jerry!!! The look of approval on Jerry's face when he thought he did good lol.
Got to be thankful for online wishlists.😂
Gift cards, too. Which I will be spending money on very soon before Xmas.
@@fromthehaven94 so true 👍🏿 I think the problem for Elaine is the sentiment. Especially if she had hinted some items she liked and he hadn't even got her vouchers or gift cards from the stores of the items she had hinted at.
Or the black market.
Kramer got Elaine the bench of her dreams…
Imagine not wanting to marry Elaine…
My mum does that exact same facial expression Elaine does when she's asking to see the card, that look of fatigued disgust, Julia was a superb actoress all too often overshadowed by Jason and Michael.
It's so well written, that you can't take sides.
Both are right. Haha
On what planet is Jerry right? Even for a "pal" this was without class.
If that bench gave way when they both sat on it Kramer would never hear the end of it from Elaine. lmao
This show is amusing...
And more
George should have just bought her a Big 🥗 Salad. He made such a big deal about it before.
182 is police code for when 2 or more people conspire together
People who gift me with cash are great I’d rather get what o want instead of pretending I want whatever the person gifted me. That’s why nobody regifts cash lmao
"... Yates." 🤣
The best part by far
I enjoyed the serious and more emotional elements to this episode because it was rare for the series
Her reaction 😂🤣🤣🤣
You can't go wrong with specialty foods - like gourmand chocolates or an experience gift like go-karting, concert tickets, ballet seats.
Or a puppy
@@raymondcanessa7208 A pet is the very worst gift...it is a 15 year commitment you make on behalf of someone ELSE...it is like forcing someone else to have a child.

Hey NO HUGGING!
Cash : the original gift card 🎁
Kramer is the best ❤️😂😂
"Let me see the card..." ouch.
2:42 guy or girl laughs/screams 😂🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣
Jerry really should have included a card explaining that the utility of
the gift exchange is maximized when the recipient, rather than the
giver, decides how the capital is allocated
Ohhhh the relationship. XD
Finally got the reference!
First 3 seasons were the best IMHO
First 3 seasons were a stretch to get through, after season 3 it picks up.
Season 4 might be the best of them all
I love seeing Een in the background.
I love the shirt Kramer is wearing in this scene
2:09 sounds like Jerry laughing lol
Also at 3:38 the door is open and in the next shot at 3:41 it’s closed and at 3:54 it’s opened and nobody left or came in!🤣 (FYI-I love unexplained things like that)
It's easily explained actually!
Took them a couple of shots from kramer entering and stitched different parts of all the shots for the one scene.
I can only hear larry davids voice when i watch Seinfeld now
This is when Elaine was happier and nicer.
I love Yeats and didn't know this quote. But I truly believe we're in the era of "the beast, its time come at last, slouching towards Bethlehem to be born." I love Yeats and I love Seinfeld.
The Second Coming is one of Yeats best known poems.
I would love cash for a gift.
Cash is King, it's the universal gift card that's accepted everywhere and never expires.
But from a romantic partner it is deflating. And impersonal.
This is why everyone loves Kramer.
I was so in love with Elaine. Not so much the actress who played her. I think it was the hair and the attitude behind it.
I remember a friend whose husband bought her a pen and pencil set for her first birthday after they were married. She was not thrilled.
What's the problem? Too impersonal?
@@Dhorpatan A pen and pencil set is like what a distant uncle gives his nephew.
Ah, but did the pen write upside down? That's the clincher.
If Elaine knows and sees the way Seinfeld treats other people and other women, what else did she expect? Given his personality, that $182 was a nice gift. He's not out there buying thoughtful gifts for other people. Your partner will treat you the way they treat others, if not now then it's a matter of time. I'd only be disappointed if he was the sensitive type and gave me cash, but he's not a thoughtful person in general. The whole issue here is Elaine, she is looking for something she knows isn't there. She needs a boyfriend who meets her needs.
Exactly!
No good??
Well posted.
Seeing how the Sein is 24/7,
$182 was a great gift.
Elaine from the last 3 seasons would have been just fine with the cash.
Elaine from the first 3 seasons would be the ultimate girlfriend... except for here stance on abortion.
Once you pound the dough, that's a-when you have a 🍕 pie.
Great bit between Poppy and Kramer.
😆
She'd only blow it with a decent guy.
Did you forget the cigar store indian? That was a cool gift. But Elaine wanted a boyfriend type gift when Jerry was actually a "pal" w. benefits.
Is Kramer sensitive enough t feel the essence that closed the door at 3:43, when it was just open a second before?
Yeats 😂
