After spending all my life touring on motorcycles, my mx5 boot space is massive 😂

Relative perspective makes all the difference in the world! lol. I agree - coming from the bike world, these trunks would seem like heaven.

Well done. Not a lot of people take trips in their 124s, but I have twice. It's fun and well worth having to pack very thoughtfully.

I had thought that, if I were to buy a Miata, I would have to have a trunk rack. This is good news.

The 124's trunk is slightly bigger than the MX-5s but just barely.

Really useful demo thanks! We have an MX5 being delivered later this week and, covid rules permitting, hope to get away for a couple of week-long trips in the summer :)

lol...not a bad idea for maximizing space. Not too good for durability though :(

Good informative video for the un initiated. Thanks for the details. I've just been packing a combination of backpacks and duffle bags for my 2 week trips out of state. Got me 4 days off this week that I'm going to use to do some car shopping in DFW this week for a new car. Any info on dealers in the area with great deals on nicer cars. Thinking about another 500 Abarth convertible.

I think there are only 2 Fiat dealers left in the Dallas Metroplex. UPTOWN near Love Field, and 1 in Arlington. I've never bought a car from either of them, so can't say how they are when buying a vehicle, but UPTOWN and Mitchell Shutter (service advisor) offer a 15% discount on service and parts for anyone who is a member of the DFW Fiat Club - Fiat Club America.

Thanks a lot for this video. Would you be so kind to share the dimensions for all three bags?

The way I measure, the two top bags INTERIOR space is 18"x13.5"x9.25" apiece. The bottom bag that fits into the cargo well's INTERIOR is 14.75"x22"x5". That compared to the INTERIOR of the carry on bag I measured at 19"x14"x7"

Carry on sizes are different for different air lines. The EXTERIOR measurements (including wheels and handles) for:
    KLM 21.5 x 10 x 13.5 in
    SAS 21.6 x 9 x 15.7 in
    United 22 x 9 x 14 in
    Delta 22 x 9 x 14 in
Since the bags are soft you probably can't stuff them completely full, but allow them to be compressed to the 9" width requirement.

Yes, they are. And, like the airlines, most people measure the outside dimensions. As long as it fits in the trunk, to me what is important is the interior dimension because that is the volume of storage for clothes. For trips in a 124/MX-5, airline regulations don't matter.

when you open the trunk does it pop all the way up automatically? Or do you need to physically push to vertical?

Unlocking the trunk simply releases the latch. You then need to raise the trunk lid yourself.
