I'm so glad to hear that he's still out there sharing his story & his song. So powerful. And how cool!! What do you think the biggest thing was that you kept with you from his talk?
I want to show this to my high school students so maybe they don't take the great educational opportunities they have been given and throw them away. Not only does your music make me want to get up and move, but your story makes me want to be a better human being. Keep on and god bless.
I say this never having heard of Emmanuel Jal before watching this video... IMMANUEL JAL = MOST IMPORTANT ARTISTS OF OUR TIME I am deeply moved by his message.
Emmanual- You will always be a part of me as you moved me with your friendship and your words and that smile after all you have done - May Peace surround you my friemd and may Jah Bless you always!
Your story inspires me and keeps me here. I understand the challenges you face, as I’ve faced similar struggles. Your strength and forgiveness will not only bring you peace but also help you shine brighter. Big Brother Emmanuel Jal, your journey is a testament to hope. Keep sharing your light!
I love this man, all the pain and suffering he went through.... and still has so much faith in humanity. He is such an inspiration to me, to see him do nothing but move forward every step of the way, to get up from the ground every time he falls, and reflecting his experiences and stories through music to raise awareness. He is truly extra-ordinary, and he is a better person than anyone I have ever met... I hope people's eyes would open up as much as mine did when I saw his documentary...
He spoke and performed at the auditorium of my school yesterday in Alaska yesterday. It was phenomenal to have the chance to see him. His story touched me. Emmanuel has gone through a lot from his childhood being robbed by war to using his music and activism as a platform for peace. He has been intelligent, calm, soft spoken, funny and optimistic. I got the opportunity to dance with him on stage. He's a really good dancer. After I got home, I immediately started listening to his music after meeting him. I'm currently hearing War Child (album). The man is talented, passionate & has a huge heart. Hope to hear more from him soon :)
Crying like a baby - what a story, what a man, & his joyful gratitude song to Emma blows my heart away! Yet if any question of continuing evil, just look at the 36 "thumbs down" for this video. Revolting & heartbreaking.
I'm blown away by this guy's gratitude. It seems like we (including me) in the west are so ungrateful, or at least not good at showing our gratitude. This guy wrote a whole song all dedicated to the woman who helped him to rise out of a horrible situation. What a great person.
I think that the thing that strikes me more than anything else about this man is how authentic he is in his delivery of a message that he truly believes in. It is clear that he has suffered more than most of us in the Western world can really comprehend, and it is even more clear to me that he really is grateful for the work that Emma McCune did to save him and children like him. The joy that he expresses in his music is real; that isn't something that can be said often about music today.
Best of luck Brother ...! while the entire western hip hop scene is too busy glorifying materialism, violence, fakeness and misogynistic outlook on life... you are what hip hop is truly about. More power to ya !
It's painful story my bro we all shouldring the responsibility beacuse we did nothing to save our people bloods God bless you Emanuel God save our mother land
yES§ PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD SHOULD UNITE AGAINST GOVERNMENTS, LIKE THE REVOLUTION IN FRANCE IN THE 18TH CENTURY....THE PEOPLE FIGHTED AGAINST OPPRESSION
As human beings we should do everything possible to make sure no other child has to experience what he went through. I hope he, his surviving comrades, and his country heal and prosper.
That legendary will never ever he will remain legendary forever great man I wish him good luck in what he's planing to do Emmanuel Jal I'm a real South sudanese child
of course Emanuel you make it. your passion will lead your vision for the purpose you was born for. may God keep brighter your vision in until that day.
I just discovered Emanuel Jal and damn he has good music. I have been looking for these kind of music for so long now, its hard to find these days. Amazing story he have and I admire him. :)
This sounds more like slam poetry than music, but the two are closely related. The uniqueness of this guy is that he's not exaggerating, while many other slam poets speak out against things they've never seen. For them it's about being 'hard' or 'cool' or 'bad' or 'tough'. For him, it's about grief and pain.
Parabéns Emmanuel Jal, que Deus te abençoe e proteja sua vida, sua missão e voc|ê possa ser usado poderosamnete para levar o amor e a paz por onde quer que você passe. God Bless You!!!!
wow this guy has nothing but goodness to spread to the world and still we have people who have nothing better to do than to leave these unnecessary comments that are negative this one was a real tear jerker
He's not telling a sob story, he's trying to raise awareness to possibly change the situation. All people who've gone through this kind of hardship deserve empathy, but the least you can give is sympathy. He's not feeling sorry for himself, he's giving some biographical context for his music.
Absolutely amazing!. I have read his book, 'War Child'... phenomenal story. He has a message for the world form where he has come from... he has seen the dark side of the soul and yet had the strength to come back from it. GUA AFRICA, his organization... great difference in the world that he has made it from the war of Sudan... Alive & successful in the end.
Change.. it all about change.. Appreciation.. It's all about appreciation.. Difference.. It all about the difference that people can make it your life.. Teach The Dream.
