JANCARLOS can you show me how to scream my trumpet and play the high notes and how to crank my horn and my name is Jeffrey I am a senior at Huffman high school
I'm Brazilian and I would like to understand more about the role of mellos in American bands. Here in Brazil, high notes are written for euphonium, but as they are counterpoint they are not long notes at the top, in my opinion it seems that the mellos are a timbre complement for the trumpets. it is?
Yes in some arrangements mellos are used that way for timbre and support. Baritones and mellos are really multi verse instruments. Some arrangers use them for doubling purposes and others for counterparts to help fill out the arrangements. They are also used as transition pieces like a mesh point for the melody going from say alto to soprano with out breaking phrasing too much. Sometimes a song doesn't offer much so instead of getting wildly creative with counterparts alot of arrangers double these instruments with the melody to add extra power. Theoretically it's a matter of the arrangers interpretation using new age music theory sprinkled with classical concepts. Also earlier concepts for baritone play had them double with bassline, counter or double with trombones. Mellos where balance in between trombone part adaptation and counterparts. As the experimenting of range increased it pushed them into soprano register. I think the thing to keep in to consideration is to not cross voicing but it happens quite often. Might no be theoretically correct classically but it sounds good in the hbcu spectrum. You will still see se bands in hbcu follow the classic theory practices like Famu, Bethune Cookman,Norfolk, NCAT...that's to name a few. Hope that helped some
@@MBobo-qs5cl Thank you very much it helped me a lot. Here in Brazil, French horns are used. Sometimes I wrote these effects for the baritone or even the euphonium, but I almost killed the musicians because of the height hahaha. In 2003 we pirated the film drumline here, it became a fever in bands all over the country. This is the best marching band style they've ever invented.
traditionally, the mellophone is used as a marching version of the french horn which plays notes from a wide variety of ranges from the trombone/euphonium ranges to the trumpet range
Mellos sound good. Would be so much better if they were in tune, hit their note spot on instead of searching for the partial, and if 1 or 2 people have the right fingerings for the higher notes such as the double F.
Christopher mccorkle Christopher mccorkle keep doing long tones at least 24 counts each note try all scales (not only will you develop a nice tone but breathing will get better, you’ll be able to play all over your horn and that’s a great feeling), lip slurs, low notes and chromatic scale. Keep those cheeks in. Every week or two add a new note. Make sure to workout as well running, sit-ups, etc.
They straining theyself not putting enough air in they horns trying to sound loud not a hater or nothing but my band director says bands like su strain theyself
No? That really won’t happen if you actually know how to use your diaphragm correctly, which when you’re at the collegiate level you should have a mastery over almost
Sierra Ford Dont blame the trumpets because they have 1 note. Its only the arrangers fault they are just given it to play. 💯💯 They also still kicked ass with 1 note.
George Burrage lol yeah sounds like mellos between high school and college. Now I've heard Southern' s mellos before. They sounded better than that last fall compared to this past spring.
J Bell You know nothings about music and sound. You just gathered some bs you heard and came ov here with that shit. The mellos are fine. That's just how they sound 😐, when you get that close to an instrument it's not going to be that clear. And out of curiosity what band you play for or fw? 🤔
flights360 bruh I been playing music since I was 9. 21 years of music. I know 20 percent of them people don't know they music. I know those horns. including tubas and French horns out of tune until they find a familiar note. I can keep going if u want.

Mellophones are countermelody
@@AndersonSilva-bo6wh The mellophone fills the same roll as french horn/marching F horn. but mellophone sound is more controllable

Why is it Southern bands don't care at all about tone, intonation or synchronicity? I'm glad I live where people and bands care what they sound like!
well you have to understand that its show style.
also they play for fun moron if they wanted to sound good they most likely could
You live in the land of boring bands. Sucks to suck I suppose.
Because dci bands or boring, you sound boring. I'd rather have some some sound and some power
