Only downside is when it comes time to clean the filter. You'll have to take the whole thing apart because there's no access point on the heat shield. Too bad the top doesn't have clips or something for easier access.
Only reason I won’t buy one of these intakes after watching the install video. Pure silliness to have to remove the whole thing every single time you clean your air filter.
Just installed this tonight on my 2017 Sonic RS went in like a gem! Even just using the light from a cell phone installation was a snap. Looks and Sounds Amazing!! Highly recommended on the Sound alone. Need to do more pulls to see perfomance
Works fine with the stock intake. I did pull the intake tube out slightly from the silicone coupler so that it's not pushed all the way in, no engine codes since.
Matthew Cibulka I’m having the same issue. Which intake pipe was the coupling too far up on ? Where the filter is where in connects to the turbo intake small side or whee it connects big side?
Considering getting one for my Holden Barina RS turbo (Australian) which is what we got in place of Chevy Sonic ./shrug, would there be any issue fitting it on my car?
What years sonic is this intake made for? Awesome video! I just bought zzp lowering springs I also want to get intake for my 2016 sonic hatchback 1.4 Lt Turbo will this intake fit?
I purchased a used 2013 Sonic, and it has the ZZP CAI installed. But the CAI bounces and vibrates in the heat shield. Watching your videos looks like there is supposed to be some kind of rubber gasket supporting the CAI in the heat shield that isn't there on my car. Do you sell that rubber gasket, or has the heat shield just been improved since it was first sold?
Considering doing the same here in NZ same as Kane response below Holden Barina 17 RS , i think everything will fit there same pretty much the same car from what I've read, Do you sell the intake tube separately? and i going to have to order the exhaust as well ..
I put this on my 2013 sonic, just like the video, and my car won’t run. It starts up fine but then it ends up stalling out. I put the stock air box back in and the car ran fine just like before. Can anyone help ?
Hey Aidan, it sounds like you might have gotten in touch with Ryan already on this issue. But in case you're still having issues, the most common problem we see is the actual intake tube being installed backwards. This will cause the MAF to sit 180 degrees the wrong way and the car will run extremely rough, if even at all. So I would start by double checking that if you can. -Trevor
This really wakes this little beast up. Finish the upgrade with the new exhaust and feel and hear the extra 4-5 hp roar! Totally worth it. ZZP 4life!
I wish you had more part installation videos for the Sonic

Where you buy you intakes
I like the heat shield, but that's one reason I don't have one for my 14 sonic rs. Although I have the K&N typhoon air intake on my car.

Has your check engine light ever come on? Having a hell of a time getting it to work on my 2016 Sonic RS.
Your MAF might be broken.

Is yours a 1.4 l or a 1.8 ?

That looks absolutely beautiful. Super clean. I wish I could get it, but I just installed the MPFab intake so it's too late for me now.
IamJesus do you like the mpfab one? I've been looking at both.
Never too late.
And I've heard that the mpfab intake is better than all the other ones.
This is great! You guys should do more videos on your 3800 platform parts too

What is the last tool piece called?
This looks like it'd be a PITA to replace/clean the air filter though...
U make this for the 1.6 ltz?
is it compatible with Aveo/Sonic 1.3 diesel?
That looks great in there! Great job
can u guys make just the heatshield to work with old intake? its so clean
To be honest my intercooler snapped off so I need to by better flanges must be to much boost presure

yeah i don't think it will be a problem either, just need to watch the "brake reservoir" but from the way it looks the heat shield will be fine.
Looking for a suitable cold air intake for my chevy trax 2013 awd 1.4 turbo .
Any sugestions where i can find 1 .
Anyone else have issues with the longer motor mount bolt provided?
You are supposed to use stock motor mount bolts….
is it a dry filter or need to put oil on it?
트랙스 1.4 에도 장착이 가능할까요?
가능할거 같은데..
Saw the bracelet. Thank you for your service brother.
Great job and also thank you for your servie
Does it need a tune? I know with Subarus you can't add one without at least a Cobb accesport or pro tune.
Not necessary to run, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a tune for all the extra air being sucked in.
Is this CARB legal?

Will this work with the 2015 Chevy sonic that’s not the turbo
Unfortunately no. Our intake is specifically designed for the 1.4L turbo.
Donde lo puedo comprar soy de Mexico
Will this fit on the 2019 model?
Yes
Ain't workin with a 2020 sonic....
Hey @hyrulian23, please reach out to customerservice@zzperformance.com and they can assist. You should have no issues fitting the intake to your 2020.
That's a short ram intake, NOT A COLD AIR INTAKE.
Kind of pitiful how a aftermarket parts company doesn't know the proper name.
I vote it isn't worth putting money into a Chevy Cruise or sonic car I saving up for camaro
Zzp suck
