Mel! My brotha!! One of my favorite Rush songs and Live performances!! Amazing! 🙌🔥
@Jamel_AKA_Jamal
I know someone bought you the DVD, "Beyond the Lighted Stage." You have to watch! It's outstanding! You'll learn a bunch about them and how awesome they are... Not only as musicians but people!!! Funny, as hell, too! 💜💫✌🏻🎵
It's fun watching you experience these songs for the first time. I think you will like these:
Mystic Rhythms - great beat and lyrics
Middletown Dreams - great lyrics
In the Mood - cowbell
In the End - 1:30 acoustic, then they play the same thing again electric
got mine yesterday!
Their documentary is so good! You should see it, my respect level for them doubled🌸
As a Canadian , we gave the world the best trio musicians ever . 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Triumph, FM, Tea Party, Stampeders, Klaatu, Anvil, Sharon, Lois and Bram (sorry couldn't resist.) etc. Hmmm you could be right.
That you did
Best thing outta Canadia. Triumph is second. Take off ehhh
Don't forget Triumph!
Rush is like a fine wine. They just get better with age. This was when they were all creeping up on 60. They had already [played a 3-hour set and this was the closer. Such incredible energy and talent for all those years. Glad we can all relive it through these reactions. Jamel, you are an honorary brother of the Rush family. Love how you're representing Rush so proudly!
this comment sums up my feelings to Jamel's reaction & Rush performance perfectly so I will just second it
This is what happens when you have 3 of the greatest musicians ever do solos all at the same time. RUSH and Cleveland have a long history as it was the first place in the US to play their music. So they like to give back, and boy did they with this version. They went freaking mental.
This song was played on a Cleveland radio station and no one knew who they were. The rest is history.
@@williambash8149 yep - home of the buzzard
Yeah, knowing that Donna Halper and Cleveland more or less gave us Rush, puts a little extra validation on the "best audience ever" from Geddy. Means a little more with that context.
@@williambash8149 THE BUZZARD
@@Steve_Blackwood Also to this day, if you're playing in front of a Cleveland audience, go off: guitar solo, bass solo, drum solo, organ solo... we will cheer until we're hoarse.
The band even put out a video for Spirit of Radio in June that's an animation that pays tribute to Rockline/KLOS's Bob Coburn (RIP), KMET's Jim Ladd, and especially WMMS's Donna Halper.
Gotta give Cleveland fans credit, they know good music when they hear it... First place in the US to grasp the magic of Rush.
No denying that, they picked a good one
Thanks to Wmms. Home of the thundering buzzard. I was there. My favorite band.
True. Detroit, as well.
@@rickstull3652 That's why... CLEVELAND ROCKS!
Where ya at, C Town??? 216?! 440?? 330!?!?
In my book, this is Rush most epic performance ever captured on video.🔥💯
These three men are masters of their instruments. Just amazing so much talent packed into 3 bodies, all on one stage.
Goosebumps all over my body still. Great alternate version at the beginning. R.I.P. Neil Peart. The Professor. Peace & Love.
I was lucky enough to be 2nd row during one of shows for that one! The bass moved my hair.
I will always regret never seeing Rush live 😭What an amazing band they were.
Having seen this song played live a few times in my lifetime, This version shows just how versatile they are with tempo changes and making it all sound perfect. True greatness.
I was at this show with my dad. We live about an hour away from cleveland. He had saw the original tour back in the 80's so my mom got us tickets to go see them. They killed it as always! Glad i got to see them perform with Neil, definately a night i wont forget.
I can't help but think Geddy and Alex would enjoy seeing this, how happy the music still makes people.
"It seems to me. I could live my life a lot better than I think I am." This is truth.
It’s sad that we will never see this again!
With the awesomeness of Neil on the drums you almost forget just how great Geddy and Alex are on their instruments.
Then they kick it and you remember and go Oh my god they are good.
Seen this a hundred times. Never gets old.
They weren’t afraid to try anything and we love them all the more for it! I got carpal tunnel just watching the instrumental part LOL
Perfect representation on how 3 men can fill a room with the great sound! *LORD! That was GOOD!*
One of the greatest live performances, by the greatest rock band....ever. RIP Neil
Three guy's! Listen to that crowd. Outstanding!
Cleveland gave them their first break in the US market. I had cousins in Cleveland, told me to buy All The Worlds A Stage. Still my favorite live album ever.
I have the remastered copy of "All the world's a stage". Some of the songs on that album are better than the studio track! Anthem,Bytour and the Snowman cooks and Working man was tremendous!
Cleveland gave many bands their start. I'm fact, it's been said that if you're a hit in Cleveland, you're gonna make it big.
I did an internship at WMMS back when they were THE rock station in the nation.
WMMS
The "Hold my beer and watch this" band of Rock... Aka, Rush, the greatest of all time
”Hold my beer, eh?” Fixed that for ya
Such a brilliant band. Great show every time I got to see them. I'm still sad about Neil. They wrote the soundtrack of my youth. And of my middle age, for that matter.
I just love how much fun they are having on live performances. Always liked when Geddy jumps around with Vital Signs.
That poster was from Neil’s first show with the band. In my hometown of Pittsburgh!
Civic Arena August 14, 1974 opening for Uriah Heep and Manfred Mann Earth Band. And also my hometown! In 80's and 90's I saw them many times at Civic Arena myself 😁!!
@@dess8287 A former co-worker of mine went to that show with her brother. She said Uriah Heep and Manfred Mann were a bit of a letdown after hearing Rush.
Don't think so. The images of Neil, Alex, & Ged are from the Hemispheres era in 1978. Probably a fan made poster. Neil's first live appearance with RUSH was indeed in the summer of 1974 in Pittsburgh...
@@thomasvarady1210 His first show was at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh on Aug. 14, 1974. Which is what the poster says. Regardless of the image, the date and location of Neil’s first show is correct on that poster.
Saw many shows at the Civic Arena but never Rush. Saw them twice at other venues in the 70s though, warming up for Kiss and then headlining with I forget.
Flat out the best three man progressive-rock band ever. This called going out on high note. We shan't see their like again, I fear.
The Rush gifts are fantastic 😍👍🏻👌🏻
Cleveland has a special place in Rush history. A radio station in Cleveland was the first to play this song. It was the first song anyone heard from Rush and Cleveland went nuts for it and the rest is history. That’s why Geddy Lee says best audience ever at end of clip.
WE'VE GOT STANK FACE!!!! This is why you always show Rush live!!! Heck with the drumsticks in your hand you look like every member of a rush audience!!! LOL 😆
Fo sho Neil Peart (RIP) was the GOD.....GOAT......of the drums
It was originally straight Rock, the regae here was just them having a bit of fun.
what a typical Canadian response
Canadians have MORE funk than Americans
Watching young people smiling over the music we heard 40-50 yrs ago…is just friggin awesome, your smiles put smiles on us with more grey hairs…then we care to admit…thank you Jamel
Jamel, I get such a kick out of watching you experience Rush. As a 50-something, I found them in the late 70's and to watch you experiencing Rush reminds me of how I was when I found this legendary Band. Thanks!
You sir are special. From your long haired white 54 yr young Canadian brother, thank you. Worship these guys.
Jamel, you are genuine human being. I love your reactions to RUSH. To truly appreciate this band, it requires a special degree of musical I.Q. and you have it, my man. Cheers from Toronto, the home of RUSH.
I love watching you react to Rush, please do Headlong Flight from the Clockwork Angels tour, it’s mind blowing.
Yes!!
Yes Headlong Flight!! I say start with album version, but your idea is good too. One of their best songs, stands up against any of their classic stuff imo.
Listening to Peart navigate and lead that solo section is amazing. What a trio of musicians.
Greeting from London, Ont. Canada Jamel/Jamal - love your channel!
Had the pleasure to see Rush, back in 1979, 2112 Tour! Great concert!
This was the very first Rush song I heard way back in the day. I was hooked instantly. It is so amazing the depth of sound these three put out!
God damn! That was excellent! I saw RUSH live nearly 40 years ago and was blown away. They stayed great. RIP Neil.
Mr. Lifeson, probably the most underrated guitarist of all time. 3 absolute masters at their crafts.
You've done it again! Brought a smile to my face. Keep smile-bringing to us all, my brother! Thank you!
The Time Machine Tour was the first time I ever saw RUSH live. I saw their stop in Toronto. What an awesome experience! I did also see them on their Clockwork Angels tour too. Just a timeless band!
You saw two great shows!!
💜💫✌🎵
RIP Neil Peart 1952-2020
*RUSH RULES*
💥THE GIRL WHO LISTENED TO RUSH💥
From the back of the stadium
She’s easy to see
Standing up at the stage
In her Starman tee
From Anthem to Limelight
To YYZ
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
And all of the rockers
And all of the heshers
Well they dreamed of the day
That they might get her
And drive her away
In a Red Barchetta
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
Philosophers and ploughmen
They can’t resist her call
They cannot choose
Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
They've gotta love her
No she doesn’t say "Pert"
And she doesn’t say "Part"
Yeah, she knows it’s "Neil Peert"
‘Cause he’s close to her heart
Say a prayer for John Rutsey
He was there at the start
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
Philosophers and ploughmen
They can’t resist her call
They cannot choose
Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
They've gotta love her
Why don’t girls ever listen to Rush?
But she listened to Rush!
The blacksmith and the artist
They can’t resist her call
You cannot choose
Not to decide
So you’ve got no choice at all
No you’ve got no choice at all
You’ve gotta love her

I really like this
I’ve been wandering the earth as a Rush fan since 1981 looking for a female Rush fan to share the journey with
Now it’s too late .... saw them 54 times in concert including the last show 8/1/15 in LA
YES.Thank you brother. i am so glad you are a rush fan.Thank you
When I was in college I almost lived in the Civic, girl I was in class with father ran the place. Gave me tickets to everything.
Rush - Limelight Live in Time machine 🤘
I was lucky enough to see Rush back in the early 80s at Cobo Hall in Detroit!!!! They were out of control and my ears were blown out for days LOL!!
Jamel, I was at this show. I have a cool souvenir from Neil, not from this show in Cleve-burg but another show in Columbus. My good buddy's relative is/was Neil's personal body guard and riding partner, Michael. I'm gonna send you the item for your room.
Some of the stories he wrote in his travel books regarding Michael are amazing.
Im in africa but would love anything from uncle neil
I've never heard this version! Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Jamel, I'm just tickled watching you discover and groove to all things RUSH. Truly masters at their craft. I've loved them for, oh about 40 years now.. damn.. Time Machine indeed, blink and it's gone. Peace.
The first time I heard Rush was their song "Subdivisions". And ever since I heard that song and their other ones I ended up being a Rush fan for life!
Yes, RUSH!!!!!!
I just knew you'd love this, it's a RUSH DAY!!!!!! Just like every day, best band ever
Rush was amazing in the studio... and even better live.
Thankful that I got to see these guys several times over the years. Wish that you could have seen them live as well because the shows were top notch.
Born and raised in Toronto, I saw Rush live the first time in 1974. I saw them 9 times live in total.
If you weren't lucky enough to catch them live at least once, I feel for you. I really do. They were the best live band I've ever seen. Just three hosers from Toronto (and Neil from Port Dalhousie/St. Catharines - just down the QEW) who made it to the very top.
So much sound for 3 chumps from Canada!
Long live RUSH!!
Just amazing. All of them at the top of their game. Alex reaching for the stars and beyond.
Yesssssss. Rush are back. I'm jealous of your Rush gear, that t-shirt is fantastic. You just made my day... 2 Rush reactions. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Was blessed to have seen them several times live in the 70s. They always put on an incredible show. Love this
Alex had that white Gibson guitar since the earliest days of the band....RUSH....my favorite band for 40+ years....And here's a tip about the drumsticks....Neil used a promark 747 and in the old days he turned it around and used the butt end for more volume and power
I saw Rush and Aerosmith 1976 Evansville Indiana. My first concert at 17 years old. You can imagine my excitement.
This makes me cry. Neil's passing is still hard so hard to swallow. 😪
I was not expecting the song to start that way, and it works so well! Letting Geddy’s voice ease into the song = brilliant!
Hey brother, I had the same poster of RUSH you have hanging behind your right shoulder. Back in the early 80's. Long live Rush!!!
667 comment dust making me the neighbor of the Beast... I absolutely love your reaction to this performance. It is one of the greatest things ever captured live I think hands down. The band is in such great form. On their worst day they are great, and I've actually seen them make mistakes live before that they just kind of smiled and rolled through... It can happen even to the Holy Trinity on an off night... one of the things that maybe slip through the cracks is just how much Rush shows Cleveland Ohio for their early success. It was those radio stations that embraced workingman's the song first in 1974, and the whole blue-collar vibe of Ohio really seemed to love what rush was doing. It was their Gateway into the United States so that is why it's extra special to see this performance happening in that City so many years later.
Absolutely love this live version. Incredible.
a guitar solo, bass solo, and minor drum solo all in the same song at the same time and they make it come back to work. yeah....only RUSH!.
seeing them live was and playing this song on the Time Machine Tour was crazy amazing. Keep it up man. doing great
Great to see so much US 🇺🇸 support for this great Canadian 🇨🇦 band.
Makes me proud to be a Clevelander and a Rush fan. I remember when WMMS (“weed makes me smile”) 101 FM The Buzzard started playing their tracks and from there they catapulted to international success. I was a Rush geek growing up and saw them in 1986. Great reaction Jamal.
Rush has Cleveland to thank for the start of their success. A rock station back in 1974 played Working Man and listeners kept calling in asking about the band. Some thought it was Led Zeppelin.
It's been great fun watching you become a full-on Rush head, Jamal!
I love your sincerity when you listen to Rush. It's like the way I felt at there concerts. Truly one of the greatest rock bands ever to grace the stage! Awesome reaction Jamal and I am now subscribing to your channel.
I absolutely love how much fun you are having with this!!! Keep good music alive!
Love this song! Neil didn’t write this one. Working Man is their original drummer
I think I recall that John Rutsey was supposed to write the lyrics but he never got around to it. Geddy wrote the lyrics for the entire album the night before they had their day in the recording studio. Maybe just a rumor/legend? Although almost positive that Geddy wrote all of the lyrics for their first album.
Awww Yeah, Here we GO!
Hell yes
Rushgal has been waiting for this one!!!
Rush were at their post-80s peak on that tour. Love it.
Respect man. I was lucky to see this tour in Glasgow Scotland and 5 tours before this, back till 1980. Miss these guys sooo much.
Absolutely amazing this video.
Miss this super Power Trio so much
Rest in power Neil
Rush is still the best rock band ever. Geniuses... literally!!!
Gr8 reaction here Jamel..... 3 grownsed up men (grandparents) who are obviously having more fun still playing their music, than 3 teenage boys getting stoned outside their high school together back in the 1970s.... just like the 1st time I saw them back in 1976..... thanx 4 the memories and mental help along the way guys.....
I first saw Rush in concert in 1978 in Frankfort Germany. I've seen 4 times all together. Never disappointed. I was mesmerized the first time I heard 2112 on a really good stereo - Oh. My. God!
Thank you for what you do Jamel! Such great memories.
Ahh...the magical whimsy of RUSH! Showing us all that they were truly not just the best 3-piece band ever but, 3 of the best instrumentalists of all time. When Geddy belted out those notes as they changed gear from Reggae to the original groove my whole body felt chills. Btw, you should check-out "The Trees" from 'Hemispheres' and "Witch Hunt" from 'Moving Pictures'. Not necessarily for a Reaction but, just for your own enjoyment and edutainment. Peace
Would love to hear reactions to Rush
Fly by Night, Time Stands Still (with Aimee Mann) and Red Barchetta to name a few. Thanks for keeping great music alive.
I love watching you as much as the band. I feel the same way about them as you do. It’s an experience watching them. Best live band I’ve ever seen hands down!
Rush first debuted in the US on Cleveland radio station WMMS thanks to an astute young music director from Massachusetts, Donna Halper, and me being a resident was the beneficiary of that serendipity. The song was working man off of their titular album Rush
Hi! Love your channel!
I was walking up Yonge Street in Toronto a lifetime ago, and I heard loud guitars coming out of a bar called the Picadilly Tube, and being 18 and into loud guitars I walked in and ordered a beer. I watched three guys on stage playing covers and songs I didn't know, and at the end of each song the crowd shouted out to hear 'Working Man'. I'd never heard of 'Working Man', but when they finally played it the place went nuts and I became a Rush fan.
This is the absolute best version of this song. 100%. 6:45....I get goosebumps EVERY time I see/listen to this version. EVERY time.
What a RUSH!! Yeah - to a great great band, so talented ♥️🎶
Another great performance from the same show time machine tour was LA VILLA STRANGIATO, same great energy as working man. The boys throwing gifts out to the crowd before the tune , more upbeat version than the best known one 30 years earlier. SPEAKING OF BEST INTRO'S EVER!!!, you can't go wrong with the INTRO VIDEO from the TIME MACHINE TOUR the video takes place in GERSHON'S HAUS OF SAUSAGE (nobody beats our sausage) Alex lifeson comedy GENIUS, an oscar winning performance in a huge fat suit, Brother Neil dressed as a Cop looking like Tom Hanks, and Geddy dressed as the dinner owner, the boys are trying to find the best version of spirit of radio. ENJOY A GREAT LAUGH, best wishes from the UK.
RUSH was a live band. Nothing better than being there.
YES, YES, YES! Bro, you were the very first Rush reactor I followed way back when, and I remember requesting this performance on IG then. SO GLAD you're getting to enjoy it (and me enjoying that!). It brought a great big smile to my face, and I appreciate it. Keep being a good human, brother mine. Much love!
Live all the stops come out! INCREDIBLE!!!!!
Rush being my all time ever favorite band, and being from Ohio, this one gets two big thumbs up from me!
I can smile now... remembering back to 1979, seniors in high school, was one of three guys who had to only take govt, english and a math class.... was able to leave school after four classes and i went to work at a grocery store and my buddies to a restaurant.. they enjoyed that job cause they got to drink as much beer as they wanted.. ( the mgr was one of the moms).. back then you could work the max 32 hrs a week when you were in high school and still afford a payment on a Camaro, we had Z28, basic model cost around 4600 bucks.. with kricket speakers and power graphic equalizer we had the bomb sound system .. yep, we would crank up the volume and drink beer and toast each other, because we were working man....
One of my favorite Rush songs!
