- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- Project Avalanche is a dedicated toolset for motion and broadcast graphics in Unreal Engine. It combines the robust 3D and animation features of the engine with 2D layer design tools for a new hybrid workflow familiar to existing designers. This enables users to easily create on-air compatible graphics as well as high-end 3D product design and advertising visuals.
We’re excited to bring you sessions from Unreal Fest 2023, available to watch on demand: • Unreal Fest '23 Playlist - Ігри
I can't wait for this to go public and for everyone to get their hands on it. Andy and the team have been cooking on this for many years yall wont be disappointed 🤙🏾
We all want to see a Winbrush series of tutorials on Avalanche!
@@lumatrace Absolutely will definitely be working on that 🤙🏿🤙🏿
I dont think people understand what a game changer this is. This will blow up the motiongraphics industry like an atomic bomb. I have been using C4D/maya/redshift/AE for years. This literally will change my entire work flow. This will be a direct shot at Adobe and they MUST respond. Are we looking at a post Adobe future? I am so excited about this that I keep telling everyone I work with "A storm is coming and its going to change everything!"
The Q and the Grey
Stardate: 50384.2
Q: The creative cosmos is in chaos. Adobe and Autodesk are on the precipice of oblivion, and Unreal Engine 5, hand in hand with 'Project Avalanche,' is orchestrating the grand finale.
JANEWAY: Clarify.
Q: Remember the visionaries behind 'Project Avalanche'?
JANEWAY: The ones who reshaped the digital frontier?
Q: Recall my forewarnings about the potential fallout if they were allowed to unfurl their grand design?
JANEWAY: You suggested it could lead to a seismic shift in the industry.
Q: I'd argue that chaos is a fitting descriptor for the current state of affairs, wouldn't you agree?
JANEWAY: Their initiatives triggered this chaos?
Q: It caused...chaos. Even though they've withdrawn, their notions of creative liberation and groundbreaking technologies endure, influencing those who embraced their ethos, myself included. I became a vocal advocate. Predictably, others joined the rebellion. The powers-that-be attempted to quell our uprising, but we resisted. Now, there's a sweeping metamorphosis in progress, a no-holds-barred struggle for supremacy, and its chaotic repercussions are echoing across the creative expanse...
Until Unreal has a better way of working with footage and image sequences I don't think Adobe will have to panic.
like...a PNG sequence? @@dickonknowles5370

The time it took adobe to implement the groundbreaking feature of colored keyframes.
Like others have said this is going to completely shift the industry. I’m a 2D/3D motion designer and even with the highest spec machine you’re bogged down by poor playback speeds and long render times. Had my eye on UE for a while, mainly for the 3D side..But this completely blows the doors off. So happy a company is actually tackling this issue because companies like Adobe/Maxon never innovate. So hyped!
Yes could be a real After Effects Killer or rise the bar by making realtime playback the new standart.
I have an entire list of features I wonder whether it will be possible in UE 5.4 project Avalanche / cool stuff I would love:
-Will it be possible to mask multiple different 3D Cameras together into one composition? Like animated 2D Masks to mix the source of multiple 3D Cameras in the scene, an approach like cubism or middle age paintings where often many different perspectives are combined that actually to "not" fit but create this special "unreal" vibe. Like Giotto.
-Will there be something like lightlinking in blender, for example exclude specific stuff from a car reflection, but still make it show up in the scene
-Retime 2D Footage, like Pixelmotion and time remap in AE
-Compositing per object, will it be possible to just edit the contrast/curves for a single 3D Object over time?
-Display what a 3D Cam in the Scene can see in realtime on a 2D Layer, that can be masked and moved around.
-2D Footage with alpha channel and edge glow and othere effects appplied.
Hell yes. Looking forward to not needing AE to do this stuff. Just incredible!
Blender been better than AE forever in this..but now with UE both will be obselete-it's replacing everything..
@@DrangusKahn I am a big time blender user for modeling and 3D stuff (its been replacing C4D for me) and the pipeline for Blender+UE is incredible…but now…I may never open C4D again 😂😭😅. And don’t get me started with AE 😂
@@DrangusKahn Maybe in typical motion design, but for classic compositing and doing typical 2D VFX for video I can't really imagine using Blender, even though I have huge respect for it in 3D.
Yes I was referring to motion graphics area.@@kazioo2
yall know that UE5 wont be free and will require a subscription in the near future tho right
We need 3 part course please
1) Essentials
2) Intemediate
3) Advanced

I CANNOT WAIT. This will generate so many opportunities and jobs. I can’t wait to spend all day night weeks months and years learning this.
Incredible, another huge leap for UE and for us.
Did the AE & C4D route for 15 years, moved to Fusion and Blender for the past 5 years, I saw so much potential in Unreal but not a comprehensive set of tools for motion graphics, this will make a huge difference when its out, I think it would be the king of Motion Design, great company, amazing philosophy, not greedy, TONs of support, yeah for freelancers and small studios will benefit as well for the licensing deals, and big studios will benefit as well since it will be a one stop shop since you can not only create but transmit directly from the engine, this is huge, sorry to compare but this is as big for me as when blender introduced EEVEE and now EEVEE NEXT , but with this set of tools for sure I'll rather be doing the finals here in Unreal. Congrats and can't wait to test this set of tools.
Seems like EVERYTHING I could not do in AE will be possible to do in real time. Can't wait to get my hands on this and start learning!
and clients WILL want everything in realtime. All versions..
It would be a killer if this would replace the widget system in the engine!
Can't wait to work with these tools, this is amazing!
This effort to fill the gap into broadcast industry is mind blowing 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 any link to beta access guys ?
This is great! I'm really excited for these tools!
A very, very big leap forward
That looks like so much fun to use, keep up the great progress, im looking forward to use it!
Motion Designers go crazy on this
Looking forward to getting my hands on this. Nice work!!! 🤤
Extremely keen to see this. ❤
amazing
11:34 Halejuja live boolean !!! 💫💫⭐⭐
I hope they go really crazy with it.
I woudl love too see: Boolean also working on a lot of an parented objects, like booling an abstract moving kind of robot into a box, having negative walking half people in cubes etc.... you can really go crazy with realtime booleans without limits. Or an additional Voxel boolean system.
This is absolutely amazing! I am really excited for this!
Adobe has had a monopoly for a long time and I'm so excited to see UE finally giving me the ability to toss AE aside. AE needs so many expensive plugins and hacks to do even 10% of what they just demonstrated here. This is amazing and its in real time!!!
Wow! This looks incredible, I can't wait till we get a chance to work (and play) with it.
I've been waiting for this, exciting stuff!
wooohooo I'm so excited for this!!
Amazing stuff!
wow... This is a game changer. cant wait to explore it
Can't wait looks awesome
This looks stunning - game changing and I can't wait!!!! Congrats and thank you Epic Games/Unreal Engine
So stoked for this would love to try the beta
Makes me proud to see Andy up there. I love that dude
Can't wait ❤❤❤
Avalanche AMAZING!
Looking forward to working with this when the beta is available.
i'm waiting for this for like 10 years or so. Can't wait.
I'm really excited
Amazing.
I love it.
Nice!
Looking forward to get to see how it turns out.
I have been getting into learning more and more UE recently and it feels that all the pieces are coming together!
What a great twist in how to just one of the most (if not the most) videogame engine more and more ubiquitous and useful among many other industries!👌🙇♂
really cool system, I made it a priority to fully remove after effects from my workflow(I truly believe AE is the worst developed software that is actively being upgraded every year, Adobe is a disgrace with this). Avalanche, it’s a major step towards that dream!
I heard from a firend who acualy talked to the AE developers that LEGSYE compatibility is there number one goal. In a round about way they said "we COULD do more, but why? We have no direct competition and as long as we keep adding small features we don't need to re-write the engine. Just make sure all the plugins from 20 years ago still work, and keep slaping bandaids and glitter on it.' (not a direct quote, but that is the basic thoughts)
@@3dduff well, the competition is already here. It won't be 1 single software to replace whole AE. It will be multiple contenders all at once.
Avalanche will take away all the Broadcast and quick 3D MoGraph graphics. Cavalry will take care of text and 2D vector animation. Rive will chip away on all the animation that ends up on web and devices (Lottie and interaction stuff). AE is adding more 3D support, but Spline App is built for it from ground up. Fable App is another app to eat AE market share for small animations.
AE will have some uses left, but with time, it will be less and less relevant.
pretty cool💥
This is so exciting! The combination of all the elements in real time! Is there any way to get into the beta? Thrilling!!
Огонь) уже ждем)
When it is gonna be released?
I'm both excited this is a thing, and enraged that I'm going to have to wait an unreasonably long time to use it.
Cool
I wonder how ui/ux designers will go crazy with this.
Cinema 4D left the chat.
I hoping to see more detailed tutorials about project avalanche workflow.
I wanna use it right now
Will you be able to push 2D graphics and transition them into the 3D space for VR / XR studio studio presentations? Will those types of animations be possible in Avalanche?
Who's ready for Unreal Engine 5.4? 32:43
Oh my blob, I recently started diving into motion design and finally found "a home" with Natron, DaVinci Resolve Fusion and Tooll3. I somehow still thought everything felt clunky and was considering to give AE a shot, but now with Avalanche (I now know where the name comes from) I don't need to worry anymore. I only have one question: WHEN? :D
WHEN? XD

Can you give a hint of a release date? I am so excited by this that I race to my computer every morning just see if there's any new info on Project Avalanche!
I think it is for Q1 2024 according to their schedule. Hope to see it soon 🤞
They mention at the end, early next year, but who knows its already been delayed, but looks like they are close now.
this is freaking incredible, i'm shaking - re:Fonts please add per-character kerning!
Will project avalanche be free?? I hope it integrates very well with blender. But I think so.
When will it be available?
Can't wait to ditch AE and C4D for this T_T
I'd like to know if it can do video tracking, masking and alpha/luma mattes like in AE? That would really close the doors on After Effects as a competitor.
Would be great if they can add layering tools for Projection Mapping.
Is the Font style limited to what already install or can we add custom one ?
I'd love to get in the closed beta but I work for a reasonably small state broadcaster so maybe I'll wait for the public beta which I hope is as soon as Q1 2024? Thanks
give👏us👏access👏
When will this be available or where can I start using this?
will there also be a node editor?
That is damn good progress! It would be interesting to see more procedural animations stuff, something like Wiggle\Bounce you’ve shown, but maybe have smth like Noise that might drive any animation property. Could also be cool to have something like Figma importer, so we can design in Figma our layouts and translate it into UE. Couldn’t ask for more.
Birth of a new pipe line after 2 decades.. bye after effects!!
Does anybody have a current link on avalanche? I can't seem to find it anywhere
Couple of questions from the top of my head:
Does it support ai import and if it doesn't how well does it handle text import?
Is keying supported? How fast and generally good is it?
Huge textures? (like 5kX5k for example)
Huge image sequences?
Can it track 2D?
Can it track 3D?
Is there optical flow support built in?
Can it use webcam for realtime input? (especially combined with optical flow to drive geometry)
Prores?
Colouring workflow?
Frame by frame animation pipeline?
Overall LOVING the idea, very impressive stuff already, but sadly so far of all attempts to replace After Effects all more or less failed. Replace both AE and C4D seems logical yet too ambitious at this point. But I'm all for replacing AE for it being old and slow and made by Adobe. But let's hope you'll get there and soon.
One advice: find better 2D motion designers to cooperate with.
if this get rotoscope tracking like After Effects/Mocha its a done deal lol only be using photoshop from Adobe
I'm interested in the Beta! How do I sign up? 🙏
Now put in a video editor and we’ll be solid.
Hm..It sounds interesting..What is the name of the software?
For years I’ve found after effects obsolet for many reasons that I’ve never knew how to explain, Avalanche is doing this know.

When it will be released any idea?
They mentioned at the end, hopefully early next year.
❤I've
What amount of livestock do I have to sacrifice to get into the beta? 'cause I could use the ever living crap out of this in my current freelance project
This is how you cook
PROJECT AVALANCHE > illustrator + animatecc +premiere pro + aftereffects
will this make adobe after effects unnecessary?
Probably not in the short run. But it will be a great addition (especially for live stuff as they showcase). So no need to ditch any software, use every tool to its strengths and add avalance into the mix for the great live/procedural features! Perhaps in some scenario's you can do everything inside avalance, and sometimes you'll need additional tools for asset creation and you use them in your pipeline.
When Epic gonna change their pricing policy ? It’s got enough hooked up users 🥰 🤣

R.I.P AE for good
If you are not working in a big media group but want to test it out….are you out of luck??

BLENDER + UNREAL > C4D + After effects
When Project Avalanche gets released to the public, it will kill After Effects & bury it to the ground so deep, there's no room for Adobe to make a comeback if they keep using the old legacy code of AE.
This fixation with creating a Swiss Army design tool will be the undoing of the engine and maybe even the company. It's far too ambitious and compartmentalized and will never replace dedicated tools. If they made it all modular and optional when installed, it would be best, but it still won't work out in the end. Managing multiple different engineering teams that are dedicated to totally different things, while trying to unify it all under one interface is just folly period. The managing of so many different aspects of a tool that tries to 'do it all' is just full autistic pie in the sky ambition.
Being a game engine alone doesn't make enough money to support the company, so epic has been expanding into other industries to gather more income using their very desirable base as the world's leading realtime engine.
And the best part, no parts of the game engine is suffering because of these expansions
This has the potential to replace a lot of broadcast graphic systems which is a multi-million dollar business just by itself. Current graphic systems in the industry are about $50,000-$100,000 per engine. Most networks spend millions.
@@ragingraijin To state "no parts of the game engine is suffering because of these expansions" is pure cultist no-think. One cannot split resources and still devote 100% to something. That is mathematically impossible, logically impossible.
That is the delusional statement of a 'true believer' cultist fanboi.
You have a point and as a big Unreal fan, it's a little scary because adding new systems on top of legacy code is never a good idea....... I just hope that Epic will be wise enough to sometimes halt the development of new features and get their teams to clean up, optimise and consolidate the existing features instead, even if they sacrifice some backwards compatibility in the process. It'll be worth it in the long term.
@@r3m1 I agree, they should target the core and ensure a strong foundation. However, they won't do it. Corporations are run only on profit motive, they have no care for quality.
I don't know of any big companies that have ever improved the core of their software, but know of many that just keep tacking on new bells and whistles to keep the masses enthralled.
Take for example Autodesk, they have been needing to redo the core of 3DS Max for years now, they swore that they would, but here we are a decade after that promise, and bugs from the 90's still exist.
Why was this entire video inserted into an ad? Please don't do that.
This looks fantastic. Honestly, if you could develop this to the point of being a complete AE killer, it couldn't come soon enough! 10+ yrs in Motion Design, almost entirely in AE, and I absolutely HATE it. It's just so, so old, slow, and not innovative at all. Adobe has needed a competitor for AE for a very long time, and this looks to be just the right thing to either (finally!) kill it off, or make Adobe actually develop something innovative for a change.
Adobe deprioritized After Effects in such a way that it became the low-hanging fruit to be replaced by something else. This is something else.
i see what theyre doing.. they gonna go like adobe business model.. every mode will have separate package like motion graphics, games, architect, simulation, automobile etc.. each mode will cost something around 19.99$ and as tim mentioned students and teachers will be able to get free version of games mode in unreal. thats just my assumptions.. hope they dont go in that way. ps i hate adobe.
Bye bye after effects😎
nobody asked for it. Here it is 😂 focus on realism abd performance…
Bye Bye Video copilot element 3D.
