in the carbonite freezing scene, Han was originally scripted to reply "I love you too" in response to Leia saying I love you. after many takes without success, Harrison Ford jokingly responded "I know" and the director felt it fit the character too well and went with it
Why say director just say George Lucas lmao he’s a very famous guy. Also I realize now that this comment is 5 years late oop
@@ethanwaller8106 What you didn't realize is that George Lucas wasn't the director of ESB, it was Erwin Kershner😏
@@Tk5869 yeah i know but you know what I mean
@@ethanwaller8106 Nobody knows what you mean.

After the deathstar blows up, right before the celebration, Luke gets out of the X-wing and climbs down and Leia runs up to him and hugs him. Instead of yelling LEIA! Mark Hamill accidentally yells CARRIE!!! For Carrie Fisher. It's a cool little thing most people I know never noticed.
+chris christian He doesn't say 'Carrie'. Urban legend.
+chris christian I always seen it as "HEEEEEY"
+chris christian He doesn't actually say carrie, Mark Hamill said he says "there she is" but it became really garbled
Nice job spreading false information!
+chris christian Actually he is true, the real line is "Carrie" but in the 1997 special edition they make Hamil reedo the audio, and changed the mistake the same way they reshoot the Jabba scene of Return of the Jedi to introduce that aweful musical scene in the movie.
Peter Mayhew, the 7' 3" actor who played Chewbacca, had to be escorted by crew members and wasn't allowed to wander off set while filming The Return of the Jedi in the forests of northern California due to the possibility of being mistaken for Bigfoot by hunters ( northern California is a Bigfoot sighting hotspot ).
Lol
everybody (prequels, original, and force awakens) they say "i got a bad feeling about this"
Lol the sequels
Except the Han Solo movie. Han says “I have a good feeling about this”
@@vinniedavy6575 that’s a spin off it doesn’t count
I recently re-watched the Phantom Menace and honestly, I don't think it's THAT bad. All I thought was terrible was how Jar Jar Binks was so out of place (and completely unfunny and unnecessary), the acting for Anikan was quite cheesy and often fairly bad, but hey it's a child actor and I really think that Natalie Portman did atrociously as Amidala. Other than that, the film felt epic, the other Gungans aren't bad, some of them are even heroic and the lightsaber fights are awesome along with the performances of Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson.
+Alexander Northover I think the casting was poor for pretty much every major roll in the prequels. He also directed them quite badly. How do you waste someone like Ewen McGregor and Natalie Portman? They're fine actors, the direction was just kind of stale. The less say about Hayden Christensen the better though, he's perfect at the whingy bitch thing and that's about it (going off the couple of other films I've seen him in).
TalesOfWar I actually completely disagree with you about Ewan McGregor, I think, even those who hate the prequels would agree that Ewan McGregor WAS a young Ben Kenobi. For me, if anything, he was the one shining star that you can take from everything else.
Alexander Northover That's what I'm saying. He just had a pretty poor script to work from though his character benefits from more padding than a number of the others given we know what he becomes.
TalesOfWar The worst thing for me BY FAR in Phantom Menace (Besides Jar Jar) is Natalie Portman's acting as Amidala, though. Her acting was so flat and dead, it was really cringey
Alexander Northover Totally agreed. I don't know if it was the script, the direction or her (likely a combo of the lot). It's kind of strange too because she's great in pretty much everything else she's in.
I think they should've said, "Speaks the truth, Yoda does."
No "truth, Yoda Speaks
+Joshua Heckathorn the sith you are.
jacob Fine Yes!!!!!!
jacob Fine No, "Speaks the Yoda, truth does."
+jacob Fine That is incorrect. Yoda reverses his sentences but in a correct way. You can't have both "speaks" and "does". "Speak the truth, Yoda does" would be correct compared to your suggestion, but Yoda is more likely to just say "The truth, Yoda speaks."
I'm re-watching episodes 1,2 and 3. I don't see what's so bad about them.
SDF5150 my biggest issues with them are that the romance is extremely poorly written and that Anakin is one of the least convincingly portrayed characters I've seen in a long time. The only moment where I felt any sincere emotion from him as a character was the moment when Obi left him to die.
I like the story but the dialogue and acting aren't the best. But I do really like that the story is basically a classic Greek tragedy. The hero has a fear, he'll do anything to prevent that fear from coming true. But the action he takes to prevent the fear from happening, causes it to happen.
Jar Jar is bad about it. Messa messa turd
The only thing I hated was the romance between Anakin and Palme, it was just too cringe.
If u watch them back to back to back they are actually ok
Vader: I am your father
Me: Oh sure you can just take off your little helmet and your mask and show us all who really are.
A TDK JOKE I SEE!!!
Say what you like about the phantom menace but the final lightsaber duel is awesome
The pod race was kinda cool
Nathan Price I think all of the prequels have a cool moment in them. But the lightsaber duel took the cake for awesomeness
malaketh Yeah 3 was, IMO, a decent film.
Hayden Christensen, despite the poor dialogue he was given and bad acting in some parts (most of the problems were his lines, not his acting) done quite well in the last part of 3, when they have the showdown fight.
He was quite good at playing an evil twisted bastard.
ThePeckhamPlonker 100% agree with you
I like all of Star Wars 3. Maybe because I saw it in theaters and it was my first Star Wars.
I was going to say a Mexican joke, but I didn't want to cross the line.

Fact 11 : Han shot first
everybody knows that
In the distal version, Lucas changes it so they shot a the same time
*Han shot only
Timo Joswig Who cares. Why is that a problem if Han shot first? I don't see a problem somehow.
Ormi Ader
_"Why is that a problem if Han shot first?"_
Because changing that scene affects the dynamic of the character. Han was an outlaw, he would not have waited until Greedo shot.
I love episode 1 and I'm a huge Star Wars fan
Me too
Do u love episode 6
He cannot be a fan he loves episode 1

Corey Reiner finally I’m not the only one
Well this could be something some fans don't know. Many of the weapons in original trilogy are based in real weapons. The props were actual gun designs with sci-fi stuff added. Stormtrooper E-11 is actually Sterling SMG, Han's pistol is Mauset C96. And one can see troopers wielding bigger weapons based in Lewis light machine gun and MG 34. Oh and rebels have rifles based in M16 and STG 44.

i don't know why people didn't like the phantom menace, its probs my favourite
+Itz Barcz Oh, I don't know, the fact that there's no main character, the mentioning of midichlorians, and Jar Jar binks stepping in shit made it pretty fucking awful. Kid actor was fucking awful, so was the CGI. Best part about the prequels is John Williams' music.
+fuflang Main character was Qui-Gon, obviously.
+C:\Odapow \superuser\ I always saw Obi-Wan as the main character in the prequels.
+C:\Odapow \superuser\ I think the best part of the prequels (besides John Williams' music) was Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan
+Itz Barcz ikr its not my fave but i liked it

Also The Phantom Menace wasn't hated when it came out. it slowly began to fall later. I remember going to the theaters 3 times to see Episode 1 loved it at the time. after it was over it got a standing ovation from us. now I'm like it's not that good. but the move still grossed over a billion.
Vincent Laughton it was great af only the die hards who love to hate dodnt like it it got a 80% rating
Yeah and so. It got a 92% And I am a die hard Star Wars fan and I hated Episode 7. It to me is on par with Episode 3. At least episode 3 wasn't a remake.
Vincent Laughton I loved episode 3!?!? But I'll agree with you there, the force awakens wasn't my favorite- it got really good reviews, but then has started to fall off
Vincent Laughton
Yeah and the reason ep7 did so well is because people was curious on what it was like. I have a list of so many issues I had with the film that it can take me an hour to explain. I wanted to like ep7 so much, but when I left theaters I was disappointed.
Original Millennium Falcon cockpit was a B-29 Superfortress cockpit
+Walter Joy This is super interesting, do you have a source that I can read more into it?
5:18 WHAT ARE THOSE?!?!?!?!
+Angel Navarro rofl
+Walter Joy dosen't surprise me
Cool!
darth vader: "i am your father"
leia: "what?"
im giving this a thumbs up!! ^^
Me to
Mark Hamill didn't know that Vader was Luke's father. In the original script Vader would say "No, Obi-Wan killed your father" in order to shock even the actor playing Luke at that time, and when Vader actually said "No, I am your father" Mark Hamill really was at shock! That's why the scene was so tense. I don't remember exactly, but I think only the actor playing Vader knew about this. That's one fact you missed :P
Phantom menace is not a disappointing movie
I agree
+ArchGamer101 It's not movie at all
don't lie
+ArchGamer101 There's really more people who like it then people realize. It was just so overhyped. Think about it, people at the time would swear it would be better than the originals because of special effects and the advances of technology, but were then so disappointed that it didn't live up to their expectations.
People like me however, grew up with the prequels and therefore had no expectations whatsoever. Honestly I wasn't even aware people hated the prequels until that one 'Big bang theory' episode.
And before you just say that nostalgia blinded me, let me say this: Nostalgia is remembering how much you enjoyed something a long time ago, and then remembering what it was back when you enjoyed it. I enjoy 'The Phantom Menace' *very* much to this day. I tried watching it again with an open mind to see if I was blinded with nostalgia but I wasn't. I love the podracers. I love the music. I love the villain. I love the characters(Ewan Mcgregor plays a perfect Obi-wan and I hope he returns as a spirit in the next Star Wars movie, Qui-gon Gin is so cool, and I don't know about you but Panaka is a really good character and I hate how he wasn't in the next movie but that's probably just me, Mace Windu is everything you would expect from a Jedi master.) Jar jar Binks is not enough to ruin this movie. He is *NOT* enough!
All I'm saying is that; try to give it another chance with an open mind. Forget about your nostalgia from the originals and try to look past Jar jar and midichlorians and see the big picture. There is good in it. If you disagree then good for you, but I will not lie. I love the phantom menace.
+Sheogorath117 the phantom menace was a terrible way to start the prequels. And the alien characters were beyond tolerable, the stereotyped foreign accents and voices were just far, far too much. Podracers. Those were cool scenes, yes. Completely unnecessary, but cool, we see Ani has subconscious command of the force. Seemingly endless trade federation hearings bullshit and HOT, filthy senate action, YES!! And there is just no need to even mention Jar Jar. Take him out completely, and it would still be the worst out of the seven movies, for reasons i'm barely even scratching the surface of.
SPOILER!!!
Darth Vader is Luke's Father
+Bailey Rosier You Monster!
+Bailey Rosier DON'T GO ! IT'S A TRAP !
STOP!! OUT STAR FIGHTERS CANT WITHSTAND FIRE POWER OF THIS MAGNITUDE!!!
No, that's impossible!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Maybe its because I haven't seen it in a while, but I liked the phantom menace. I understand the issues with it, especially regarding jar jar binks, but I feel like a lot of the hatred is because its popular to hate it.
I'd watch it again if I were you. The film is very slow until the third act and the Pod racing sequence was terrible. Sure the pod racers were cool but the annoying announcers of the race make me want to die. The scene also drags on for a very long time. I also find it stupid and convenient that Anakin was the one who built C3PO. The Queen always speaks in a monotone voice throughout the movie too. And of course there's Jar Jar Binks but I'm tired of talking about him because we all know why basically every one hates him. The final battle scene didn't impress me too much, but I'll admit the lightsaber fight was awesome.
+Brian Boardwell That doesn't necessarily make it it bad.
God bless you! God bless everyone in your life!
Dagenspear ???
+Hank Wimbleton I think its about the complexity and plot holes left by episodes 1-3 that worry me most. I enjoyed all the star wars films but 1-3 are very different in comparison to the originals. 1-3 are less of the Galactic War of good and evil we were used to and they were more a political takeover by the the sith Palpatine and the journey of Anakin. There is a huge amount of politics involved that makes many areas of the films hard to understand for young viewers and in general quite boring. However reading a novel on Palpatine and Plageuis planning to unclock immortality and their accidental creation of Anakin I get the plot holes now and appreciate the films more and tbh that's an issue that I had to read that novel to understand many characters actions and forthcoming events. However regardless of acting, characters like Jar Jar, and Political settings rather than good old good vs evil the 3 films represent to me a brilliant set up to the greatest trilogy in the galaxy, a brilliant overruling of government and plot to destroy the Jedi council and a brilliant evolution of the galaxies worst shooters and most iconic army, the clone/storm troopers in the Galactic empire. and who can forget the awesome, slightly melodramatic fight scene between obi wan and Anakin that lead into the fatal attack that would lead to the creation of Darth Vader. so yeah these films are nothing in the face of the originals but to me they do their job well, it may not be what people expected of a star wars movie but for me it makes sense and they worked to effectively set up episodes 4-6
+jamie scriven Even in those star wars politics, it was still good vs evil. I think you mean there were no, good vs evil dog fights, no crazy lightsaber fights, no shooting blasters at stormtroopers every 10 minutes. And rightfully so, as you pointed out they were the set up for the original trilogy, so having that to me would have felt out of place. I don't remember much about the movie cause I've only seen it once, but I don't remember hating it.
As a side note, to be honest, I don't see the grief and hardship everyone seems to be having with the prequel movies. They are movies, so what? Lucas felt the need to make them, but just because Jim didn't like it, for example, doesn't mean no one else does. Like I said, I only saw it once, and from what I can remember, it was an okay movie, if you watch it with the intent that it is the first movie for telling Anakin's story, and not holding some expectation that it will be better than the original trilogy movies. That's how I saw it.
That's like people who like The Lawnmower Man, people say the sequel flopped, I enjoyed the sequel. There are people who feel that Back to the future was the only good Back to the future movie, and that all the other ones are screwed up, I don't. People think Superman (Christopher Reeves) was the only good movie while all its sequels were horrible, I liked all the Christopher Reeves Superman movies. It's not life or death, it's a movie. I don't understand the grief that everyone has over the star wars movies, I really don't. I understand it's a whole universe with hundreds of thousands of unique characters, but at some point you have to just say, whatever, and move on with life.
Kylo Ren is a double agent. He had to kill Han Solo to make Snoke believe he really is in the Dark Side. Thats why he didnt actually kill neither Rey or Finn( he should have done it easily because either of them had held a lightsaber before) and when he says that he needs Han Solo's help is so his dad can sacrifice to make Snoke believe he has no Light on him. I truly believe the story of the Jedis killed by Ren is a fake story made by Luke and Kylo to make Snoke believe he is a Sith, and then destroy de Dark Side from the inside. When Kylo says to Darth Vader he wanted to finish what he started he means that he will finish destroying the Sith, not destroying the Jedi. At the end when he is fighting Rey he tells her that he could show her the ways of the force which means that he could need help from her to destroy Snoke and thats also why he got so upset when Rey escaped from the base. Not because he wanted to turn her intro the Dark Side but maybe because he wanted her help.
Makes literally no sense. Snoke is stronger than Palpatine, he would sense Kylo's being of a traitor easily.
Don't spoil it idiot!
+_ GmanTcu _ shouls have watched it already
+ScoutParticle no he wouldnt. We still dont know if Snoke is more powerful than Palpatine and Kylo is a Skywalker which means he is really strong in the force
like Snape in harry Potter ?

@Merciless Freak I didn’t grow up with the prequels. I’m 10. But I love the prequels, and I hate the sequels.
a fact that most people dont notice is that the last line said in episode III and the first line of episode IV was both said by C3-PO at the same place. which connects the movies.
CopCat what was the line tho
+loto hooman "Oh no" and "Did you hear that?"
they also dont know that the most said line is I have a bad feeling about this which is said atleast once per film, they also dont know that the tantiv iv is the last ship u see in episode 3 and the first in episode 4 which also links the films well, also c3p0s leg is silver as his covers were made from scrap
Isn't the last line said by obi-wan? Then again I haven't seen the prequels for a long time.
+THE X-TREME TEAM No, Threepio does get the last line of the PT.
Honestly I don't understand why people hate the Phantom Menace I thought it was pretty good
Watch Redlettermedia's Phantom Menace review
Too much politics
TKDLION Oh yeah someone else opinion is suppose to make me hate Episode 1 smh hate OT fanboys always giving that excuse saying ''Watch Redlettermedia's Phantom Menace review and you will see why its bad'' if i don't think its bad when i watch it why would i think its bad if some idiot says it is? stop being robots OT fanboys have a mind for yourselves for once
+Patrick Shively So you are saying he should right a 10k word comment? I would much rather watch RLM quality review then read a comment. The review points out everything objectively and subjectively wrong with it. "OT fanboys" ?
+Patrick Shively Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Phantom Menace either but only in the sense I just felt it could've been done a lot better. So it's easy for disappointment to turn to hatred if you let yourself get caught up in other people's negative reviews. So yeah, I detest critics anyway (for the fact you mention) so I avoid them like the plague and although constantly hearing other people's negative comments about Phantom Menace is hard to avoid, I go by what 'I' liked or didn't like. At the end of the day it's the prequel we've dreamt about for many years (and they did get better) so I'm still grateful for it and I can still watch it and take what I do like about it and absorb the fact: it a friggin' fuckin' STAR WARS movie!
I highly doubt Neeson regrets a damn thing. Do you know how much money Episode 1 made?
colebowlin68 Yeah that's true. It's gotta be tedious making ANY crazy huge budget movie with green screens and stuff.
Episode 7 will be fastest movie ever to break 1 billion, easily. It will be the highest grossing film ever. My bet at least
colebowlin68 That's very true, and many of us are fearing the series will make the same mistakes it did with the prequels. But as far as Neeson is concerned, he's probably so much richer for having done that one film. I am hopeful though that now that there's a different director at the helm, perhaps Hollywood will have learned from its mistakes that were the prequels, lol.
+colebowlin68 people? no, ''internet ultra narrow minded star wars old fan'' yes, and the prelogy wasn't shitty films, the third is good, the 2, got an awfull love storry, the first...yay, this one is shit.
But i'd like to say that: you are not ''everybody'' and stop trying to talk for everyone. internet is not world, and SW7 is already hyped all around the world.
+jrjubach Why people are so mean with this First episode. I don't remember it was so "unpleasant" when I saw it the very first time. Think about your first impression guys.
I like the prequels
I wanna see the alternate Luke Vader ending. :O
+DarkestSecrets1 I do believe they even recorded it so the actors didnt even know how the movie was going to end until the premier (which I thought was cool)
+DarkestSecrets1 ~ I believe that we will in December :)
+Patrick Joreski I was thinking that too! Do you think that Luke will be Kylo Ren?
+Atari00 That'd be epic
Luke will definetely not be Kylo ren because they already have and actor for him you can search it up
why everyone hates the phantom menace? i love that movie, that and all the other ones from the saga
+Darthpepo It's a good movie...but Revenge of the Sith is bad
+Darthpepo I personally enjoyed it as well when I was a kid, but now that I look back I can see the many flaws and head-scratching decisions the film has. Still, it's good as a popcorn movie at the very least.
Razvan Musat maybe the phantom menace is not that good, but some people hates the episode 3 also, and i think that's a very good star wars movie
Darthpepo I agree, I think it was an okay movie, people hated it too much, but it was definately the best in the prequel(which doesn't say much I know).
Razvan Musat i hope that J.J doesn't fuck the new movie
Is it me or does everyone not see it....
Anikan did destroy the dark side. He did kill the sith lord.. He did fulfill his destiny... The prophecy was true in retrospect.
+Tryden D'Souza I dont think Anikin destroyed the Dark side because in episode seven something called "the First Order" is created which is essentially the Galactic Empire which has a new character called Kylo Ren who is kinda a sith lord
+Tryden D'Souza If you read the books to star wars you would find out that Han and Liea have 3 kids and name one of them Anakin, and he is the one that brings peace to the force.
Margie Orf
I don't think that the books are considered cannon (correct me if I'm wrong)but that would be awesome if the first Anakin wasn't the one in the prophecies
Someone pointed out to me that by the end of the prequels there was 2 remaining Jedi and 2 Sith, so Anakin did litteraly “bring balance to the force”…
(Unless you take The Force Unleashed into account as canon with General Kota…)
Daniel Clancy
I always thought that bringing peace to the force meant no sith at all
You'd swear this guy caught the pox from watching The Phantom Menace.
I know. It's idiotic.
As a kid I loved it, but over the years I've realized it's complete crap
TheLeatheryman
Anakin is Darth vader
I know
Lucas wanted to keep the plot twist of Vader being Luke's father so secret from the public and media, that Lucas had written a "cover up" dialogue in the scrip, for the scene where Vader tells Luke that he's his father. It was such a secret, that not even the actors knew the dialogue was going to reveal that Vader is Luke's dad. In the original "cover up" scrip, Darth Vader tells Luke that Obi-Wan Kenobi killed his father... and Luke responds with the famous "Noooo- That's impossible".... After the scene was shot, Lucas spoke to Mark Hamil and the other Cast members, and told them, that the dialogue was going to be dubbed over at the sound editing stage, to have Vader say the line we all know today: "No. I am your father."
I actually like the fact that it was called Episode V, etc. It gave the impression that we were only receiving fragments of this epic story from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. The rest might have been forever lost to antiquity...
Fact: The background actor playing a stormtrooper who hits his head on the door was just a mistake, but Luces incorporated it as a flaw of Jango fett in attack of the clones as he hits his head while boarding his ship. He said Jango couldn't see very well and it was a minor flaw that transferred to all the clones. Of course its a bit odd since all the stormtroopers are different heights and have different voices.....opps.
different voices, height, and the clones are introduced in future media. back in the OG trilogy they were not clones but recuits
+Merchant Ivory (filmstudent) Man, George Lucas is pretty bad as a writer. Most of the things he wrote made no sense.
Razvan Musat And?
Merchant Ivory Yes.
+Mike Barr Star Wars rebels confirmed the Empire kicked the clones out of the army at a certain point. the show takes place like 5 years before episode 4. only the high rank clones in the 501st are still active.
In every star wars movies except the last jedi they say this phrase. "I have a bad feling about this"

+TheLivingRequiem - I liked them. Not Jar Jar and not the young Vader, but I had fun with them.
Well what I mean specifically is that people tend to regard it as either sub-par or the worst off the three prequels. I pretty much grew up with the first episode and episodes 4, 5, and 6. I didn't have the nostalgia of the first three episodes as I was thrown directly into the prequel first. I can understand hating Jar Jar and Ani, but really - "The worst of all the StarWars Prequels"? I think that's stretching it a bit much, no?
+TheLivingRequiem You're not the only one. It is actually 50/50. It's just the naysayers have the louder voice.
+TheLivingRequiem Darth Maul was one hell of a well done villain.
+TheLivingRequiem I like the pre-quels, but Jar Jar should've been cut.
Man, when I was younger I have so much god damn Star Wars Lego.. It was the shit. And I can't find a single photo of the glorious set up :(
***** I will give you some of my old star wars lego if you give virgina some kakka cake
***** They have some pretty awesome sets now. Frankly, I'm rather jealous of today's children. The lego has a lot of detail put into it.
When i was a kid i wished for doctor who lego...now its out and i dont like lego any more -_-Ivan Denisovich Shukhov
I love History! Lego's still cool.
+Eemeli Eeme PASKA!

when people say "facts I don't know" but I know about half of these frustrates me...
it frustrates me that you didnt pay attention to the person saying "you may not know"
Dumbass
stop being a nerdy virgin and maybe that wont happen...
Ditto0415
I agree, he should say in the title 'might not know' or you may find interesting' - very annoying.
I agree lol
Han shot first
What's so bad about the phantom menace
+Evan Mitsakis Terrible acting, too many boring scenes of political jargon, unnatural sounding dialogue, an overabundance of CGI (that does not hold up today), changing the Star Wars mythos with unwanted additions such as midichlorians, and most importantly...Jar Jar Binks.
Really after rewatching it, I can cite about three good things that came out of Phantom Menace:
1. The music was great, so kudos to John Williams
2. The pod racing scene was fun
3. Darth Maul and the climax of the movie was filled with genuine tension and the best action in the entire series.*
And I'm going to give an asterisk to Darth Maul since a big portion of why he's so cool is because he has less lines than anyone in the movie. Therefore he's not ruined by having to speak terrible written dialogue. He's just free to look like a badass and kick ass with his double sided lightsaber.
+Jordan Moore i love how people give jar jar a huge part in why they don't like the prequels. He is not an important enough character to be so whiny about. He is just a freakin side character who you are expected to just laugh at how dumb he is. not to mention he doesnt have that many lines. Rethink your "most important reason" and try to think out side the box of popular opinion.
Jonah Connette Thinks outside of the box? I think I gave you about six different reasons off the top of my head as to why people don't like the Star Wars Phantom Menace and the rest of the prequels.
And despite your objections, Jar Jar is a huge reason as to why people hated the movie. He's annoying, not funny, just annoying. And you think he wasn't an important enough character. I'd say outside of Qui Gon and Obi Wan, he gets more screen time than any character. In fact, the climax is somewhat lessened by the fact that during the sweet fight between Maul, Qui Gon, and Obi Wan...we get cutaways of Jar Jar acting stupid in the middle of a battle, and succeeding. Having him survive a battle, let alone thrive in it, takes the audience completely out of the realm of disbelief.
And for the record, I don't think any of the prequels are HORRIBLE movies. They're just horrible when compared to the originals. I would say Revenge of the Sith is a genuinely great movie with some bad elements such as bad acting and bad dialogue. But it's strengths far out weigh the flaws.
Phantom Menace is a cheesy movie that Jar Jar ruins the tone of the Star Wars movies. Having a character like that in the movies completely changes everything we're supposed to feel about the characters and plot. However, it still has enough good things such as good action and good music to keep the audience entertained...therefore, not a bad movie.
Attack of the Clones is my pick for the weakest of the three. It's boring and forgettable. Unlike Phantom Menace which can be boring at times, it at least is memorable. Off the top of my head, I can't remember one truly standout thing about AotC. The only thing I can truly recall about AofC is how miscast Hayden Christensen was as Anakin Skywalker. He's a whiny brat. I know, Luke was a whiny brat as well...but he grew out of it. Hayden never grew out of that role.
+Jordan Moore jar jar originally was supposed to be the sith lord who controlled palpating that why dooku is just a random character out of no where... But then George chickened out cause all of the hate jar jar was getting.
Just read the Reddit theory of jar jar being a sith
Jordan Moore i can agree with alot of what you just said, but it all depends on how much jar jar bugged the viewer. if the person watching it didnt get as annoyed as apparently most, it was a significantly better movie to him/her. I did grow up with the prequels, it could also be that i have sentimental value for them.
Before the filming of the movie the empire strikes back, Mark Hamill was in a car accident and had sustained quite a bit of damage to his face, so to compensate for this, George Lukas added in the scene of Luke being mauled by the wampa to explain the scarring on Luke's face
Yeah my mom knew about that
I can’t help but to love Jar Jar Binks. Favorite character in Star Wars
Same
I don't gett why people thought episode 1 2 and 3 was so bad, I thought they where good. Am I missing something or are people just crying to much?
+Chrille9320 crying too much. The people who like it aren't as loud as the people who didn't. All episodes were pretty successful.
+Nabiya Ri That's my piont. :)
I love episode 1 2 and 3 :D
the dialogue in episode 3 was a bit bad but they were all good
+Chrille9320 Because it makes sense that a non main character called Jar Jar can ruin a whole trilogy.
phantom menace was a good movie, i just
skip the podrace scene.
+ryan phillips But that was one of the only semi-enjoyable parts...
no, it was boring, long and noisy.
i went on rotten tomatoes just to see how stupid this world is and they have it ranked under episode 2.
+ryan phillips Why is episode 2 so bad?
just constant terrible dialogue.
no actor can be held responsible for
something even arnold schwarzenegger couldn't pull off.
there was less of it in episode 3, but it all still went to hayden christensen; poor bastard.
i don't even mean the high fantasy shit, but all the love stuff, the confusion over his choices. it's like instead of an inner monologue he was speaking actual thoughts...
ryan phillips Oh yeah like the "I dont like sand" LOL...
The man who played Luke, Mark Hamill voiced Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender
He was also the joker in batman the animated series and in the Arkham games
+TheXPERT891 He gets around.
+TheXPERT891 he does alot of voice acting, he is also the trickster in the old live action flash series and even now in the new series lol
he also plays skips in regular shkw
+TheXPERT891 Aw you guys are all 12, huh? That's you're all just learning stuff that every adult already knows. Cute little kiddies.
That last one was very good bravo
Sean Snow
Can't agree more lol.
Still don't know why so many people hate Episode 1. I don't, probably because it was the very first Star Wars I ever saw...
Max van Butselaar Imagine a really awesome coffee machine with diamonds and art paintings all over it, now picture a really ugly coffee machine that you found on a dumpster, the coffee it makes has the same taste than the awesome machine, but the ugly machine is so ugly that even if the two coffees have the same taste, you just don't want to touch or see the ugly one
+Celestial Nighthawk what do looks have to do with it? I know that's just an analogy, but The Phantom Menace has aged beautifully.
basically the prequels have the same content than the original but it does it really bad
4:14 in the bottom left corner was that supposed to be the slave 1 or was that supposed to be an astroid?
+dajon bishop Have you seen the movies? Boba somehow knew Hans plan so he had himself ejected with the trash to follow. SO yes its Slave I
just making sure
I feel the tone of my comment seems jerkish XD Which I am not trying to be
i didn't take offense
+WirelessFawn3 Oddly enough, none of the trash seems compacted in the least. And it makes you wonder how big the trash containers on those Star Destroyers are, if Boba could fly his ship in there.
qui gon jinn was originally supposed to take the place of Darth maul, and even have Darth maul as the name, but Lucas decided to have him be a jedi
Vader: Leia I am your father
Leia: WHAT
Here's a fun fact: Boba Fett's first appearance (excluding the special edition of Ep. IV) is The Star Wars Holiday Special. Depressing, no?
+Bobsheaux Fun fact for sure but far from an unknown one these days. Boba's segment was even an easter egg on the previous blu-rays. Best part of the special! Even better than Chewie's dad having cybersex with Dianne Carroll (there's a fun fact - first cybersex scene on film?).
I guess I nailed it. I already knew all of this.
joshjhutton good for you
joshjhutton same here ima star wars fan boy seen every 1
havent seen any of them
just played the lego game
Aare Kärner Why is he stupid?
he´s probably 12
FACT: Lucas vowed he would NEVER make Episode 7, 8, and 9.
Lucas isn't making episode 7 Disney is.
Noel Clark Precisely, Lucas had thought of selling the Star Wars franchise after Episode 3.
Hence, that "Hint".
Get it, Noel?
+Hein S False he said that they may be made in the future but he wouldn't be the one to direct them
TRUE Lucas said he will not make Episode 7 8 9.
That is the truth. Because Disney was in the process of buying the Star Wars franchise.
Hein S FALSE. He said that in 2007 or 2008 Disney Bought Lucasfilm in 2013
Someone always loses a limb in episodes 1 to 6. That’s a fact.
1 - Darth Maul getting chopped in two(sort of counts).
2 - Anakin getting arm chopped off by Dooku.
3 - Dooku getting beheaded by Anakin. Later on Anakin getting his legs chopped off by Obi Wan.
4 - Guy who attacks Luke in Cantina, gets arm chopped off by Obi Wan.
5 - Luke gets hand chopped off by Vader on Cloud City.
6 - Vader loses a hand in the fight with Luke.
symbolic of loosing part of you to the dark side. yeah most were already bad but they went down this path.
There are 13 cut arms in ep 1-6.
the obi wan kenobi in episode 4 was the uncle of the obi wan kenobi in episodes 1-3
the actors to be specific
+IsaiasSoldier2 really? nice
+Jonathan Montes Yep. it was on a behind-the-scenes interview with the obi wan kenobi actor from episode 1-3. He said he saw his uncle act in star wars when it first came out in theater. Then it inspired him to act himself and it was an honor to play the same character as his uncle.
IsaiasSoldier2 that's awesome. Never knew that. Thanks for info.
+Jonathan Montes Yep :D
u guys should know this, so which is it... *"Luke I am your father"* or *"No, I'm your father"*
+Dat Boiii Games For I am your father
hap0n its luke i am your father
hap0n oh whoops typed wrong haha
hap0n he told me enough! he told me you killed him... NO.... I AM YOUR FATHER. No. no that's not true! that's impossible!!! search your feelings you know it to be true. nooooooooo!!!
hap0n no Luke I'm am your father.
there is nothing wrong with Star Wars episodes 1-7. I like them all. Although to me episode 3 made me sad 😞.
Episode 3 is. my favorite episode
Me too
Yh ep 3 is so sad cos anakin mainly turns to the dark side because of padme and when she dies u feel so bad for him cos he’s truly alone and has sacrificed everything for nothing.
Ep7 is just a parody on ep4.
Denis Lawson, the actor who plays Wedge(one of the few pilots who survives both Death Star raids in the original trilogy) is the uncle of Ewan McGregor who plays young Obi Wan
"Hidden facts"? why are they hidden? I thought it was about secrets throughout the saga
+superdudepwn exactly what i was thinking!
Who's seen the new Star Wars? THE FORCE AWAKENS!
Meh
+Lab Cats me
+Lab Cats im going to see it friday!
Haley Schilthuis Its really cool ,and the beginning is classic like in other Star Wars episodes (A long time ago in a galaxy far,far away) :)
lol ya
Jar Jar Binks is one of the Sith Lords
No lmao
"Meesa gunna corrupt your soul"
Ermac Does MORTAL KOMBAT lmao
I love Star Wars! I love Star Wars! MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!
I hate how Qui-Gon-Jinn and darth maul were there for only one episode and darth Vader stayed till episode 3 to episode 6 totally not fair
well the movie was for him xD and oni wan and his bloodline
Darth maul was in the clone wars
No, he was only in The Phantom Menace
+Matthew Phillips I think meant the animated series.
And qui gon was in the clone wars as a force ghost in some episodes
Knew all except the Lando one.
why doesn't Vader sense that Leia is his daughter?
because the power of space boners is stronger +1 sin xD
+vincent eby incest joke?
I do, but he said the power of boners is stronger when he mentioned vader not knowing he had a daughter...
Seeing that he never knew she was born, and only figures out Luke is his son after his name gets out as the one who destroyed the Death Star, Vader wasn't sensing it because he had no reason to. She was well hidden, and I'd like to think Obi-Wan kept some sort of Force shield around her when young.
It's only when Vader feels Lukes inner conflict that he reads his mind and taunts him with the new knowledge
+Angela Rupp Anakin sensed everything going on with Padme and sensed the force was strong with this one when he was pursuing Luke through the death star trench. Leia was standing right in front of him, he should have sensed something.
The prequels have actually aged better than I anticipated. Sure, they're not perfect by any stretch but, compared to the Disney dumpster fire, they are masterpieces.
lol darth vader be like: I AM YO FATHER. Princess Leia Be Like: Da Fuq
Watching the original 3 movies and not reading any of the 'extended universe', my impression was that the reason Darth Vader had a lightsaber was because he was a former Jedi. The Emperor was a master of the dark side of the force. The whole idea of a rival team to the Jedi called the Sith was something I only became aware of with the Phantom Menace. I think the idea of the Sith makes the whole narrative a bit more simplistic and uninteresting. Was the Sith a thing all along, or was it an invention to accommodate the prequels?
+bidhrohi12 Sith were there all along! the clone wars stories were there before return of the jedi...the movies were written in the official numbering...so 1,2,3,4,5,6
Darth Vader used to be Anakin Skywalker and the Sith are as old as the Jedi but they were shunned or kicked out since they believed in using power over the jedis pacifism which was a flaw as they would betray other sith to prove how strong they were
+bidhrohi12 You bring up a good point. I do not know if the Sith per se are ever mentioned in the originals.
+bidhrohi12 This is all true. Most fans, however, were reading books that go more into detail about the Star Wars universe. There were many books about what Luke, Lea, and Han did AFTER the movies. But now, there's movies about it.
+bidhrohi12
I think that the Sith was an element added for the prequels.
The key element is the lightsaber.
The emperor doesn't have one, every jedy or ex-jedy has one...all but Yoda (that was a puppet, how clumsy would it be?).
All the references in the original trilogy are to the clone war, while the lightsaber was "an elegant weapon for a more civilized age".
But if you ask Lucas, he would say he wrote all 9 episodes, line by line, at the age of 16 :D
I would say the prequels had way better story line than the originals. The original's story line was overly simplistic. A good rebel alliance against an evil empire, interlaced with a fucking maury episode that can be summed up as "when it comes to the case of young luke skywaker; Vader, you are the father". The sequel had much better and depth in its story. It had the republic and the Jedi seeming achieving victories against the Separatist and Dooku while they are unknowingly falling deeper and deeper into Palpatine's plot. There is also the Anakin's feelings for his mother and padme, both normal human emotions, yet the Jedi tells him those feelings should be forbidden. It makes one wonder did the Jedi and their dogmatic ways push Anakin towards the dark side as much as Palpatine's plots to seduce Anakin. In the prequals, the Jedi are not necessarily good when they are so emotionless and systematically unsympathetic to Anakin's pain; the republic is not necessarily good because it is weak and corrupt; the separatists are not necessarily evil because they are just fed up with the republic's corruption. In conclusion, prequals' story had way more depth and complex morality and explores the issue of embracing human emotions or rejecting human emotions; compared to the original's simplistic binary morality and juvenile finding memo who is my father shit, the originals story simply sucked.
endlessly over-complicated mess doesn't mean better, shit head
Zach Olesen yeah originals saber fight 10 hits and ends prequels saber fight 45 hits and ends with someone dying
akroyd
I guess to the intellectually challenged, complicity is certainly not better
The name Boba Fett was already know to those of us who watched the Star Wars Holiday special when it aired in 1978 (which every Star Wars fan should suffer through at least once). He appears in a cartoon segment of the show, in which he tells Luke his name.
When Star Wars was originally released, there were fan magazines that told of NINE films that were planned, called The Journal of the Whills. I have read that this was an original outline that was discarded as plans went forward, but I wonder why Lucas denies ever having the plans for the nine films?
+Kurt Kier I read on Wikipedia that there was an idea for TWELVE films.
+Kurt Kier
A new trilogy is happening right now. Altogether that is 9 movies
+Kurt Kier Because most of his original plans were jettisoned while writing the prequels, and he's done everything in his power since their release to make them seem like legitimate parts of the saga that were always meant to be there. Its the same way that he currently denies that Leia was originally not intended to be Lukes sister (but changes in plans and ideas forced him to consolidate some of his characters so he could wrap up the story in Ep6).....even though I have a video interview of him explicitly explaining why the change in Leias character was done.
razorfett147 I read on Wikipedia that originally luke would find more things about his Sister in ep 7
the temple in episode on yavin 4 is a sith temple. one of the oldest actually
You missed a storm trooper hitting his head on the door in episode 4
J.J.Abrams was the one who wnated Luke to go bad, and the actor for Luke agreed with him, but near the end of the original trilogy, J.J and George had a fallout in their friendship
Ok hear me out. I think that supreme leader snoke is darth plagueis (the emperors trainer). Who agrees.
cant be plagueis had no nose snoke does and snoke said he saw the rise and fall of the empire and if it was plageuis he would be over a hundred years old because the event of the force awakens take place 33 years after the battle of endor and then we have the republic that might have lasted a few decades
+XxblazingjackalxX who says snoke can't be 100 years old. He looks it.
well it could be but snoke has a nose plagueis dont
+XxblazingjackalxX but maybe his nose was cut off, or it deteriorated like a dead persons does
bu plaigeus was from he old republuc and snoke afer he empire so hen it must be a scare no a full nose
Most people call Palpatine the Emperor and Ewoks little bears anyway.
"Do or do not, there is no try." - Yoda
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
Mind blown.
The intro killed me 😆
Father in german is Vater hmmmmm... sounds a bit like VADER.
In Dutch father is Vader, coincidence? I think not.
Luke Vader:
Luke Father.
+Marty Fordon
NOOOOOO!!!!THATS NOT POSSIBLE!
+CustomBrickMaker I'll bet the Dutch didn't even bother watching the second movie because they saw the spoiler coming after the first.
+Blaisem I don't see what you mean?
luke had sex with his sister. meaning that the girl in the seventh movie has some kind of mental disorder and the entire movie is just her imagination while in reality shes been treated at a hospital
being*
LOL WHAT?
+Kevin Sosa exactly... im kidding man idk XD
+noobhead16 I believe this
They never had sex bro, just 3 long 5 second kisses
One important one was missed. The fact in episode 4,5 and 6 it was always stared yoda was the teacher of obi wan. Yet in 1,2 and 3 qui gan was his teacher. Qui gan was never mentioned in the first movies.
His name is Qui-Gon. Not Qui Gan. You were so close!
Caulk that up to my phone js thanks
I'm having trouble understanding what you just said.
+deshelly hamilton Yoda had been the teacher of pretty much every if not every Jedi of that Age. Let's just say that he was everyone's homeroom teacher of the Jedi Academy.
+deshelly hamilton Yoda taught all of the younglings and Padawans before they were assigned a master to continue their training in the field. This was somewhat different with Aankin as Obi Wan swore to teach him personally. This is also partly because even though he was 10 when he began the training that was considered too old so Yoda wouldn't allow it, hence Obi Wan saying he'd do it.
"Han solo still has a part to play in the future." Ya, not anymore after The Force Awakens.
Of the films, these are my favourites
1)revenge of the sith
2)empire strikes back
3)rougue one
4)star wars
5)force awakens
6)return of the jedi
7)last jedi
8)attack of the clones
Same
Prequels are under rated
10 things "you didn't care about" going on behind of the scenes of Star Wars
1:50 Vader's helmet almost blew away!
I'm tired of people talking shit about the prequels when Episode 7 was one of the most abhorrent displays of cinema this side of the century.
Episode 7 was the best movie out of them! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVED the prequels but episode 7 was great
+PikaGaming02 Episode 7 just copied the original trilogy.... I mean like seriously...
McRoad PVP
it felt original to me, yeah it had inspiration to feel more like the original loved trilogy, but it wasn't a copy at all
the ending does not mean they copied the whole movie. There were no force tricks with the mind, rouge storm troopers, hallucinations (when rey touches the lightsaber), no peaceful village that was killed, no known family members, the movies are very different
McRoad PVP
not to mention, there wasn't a question about if the main villain (Vader) possibly being good, or a mysterious master that we don't know
spoiler alert!!!! In episode 8 Han solo is not dead. He and Leia go on the Dr. Phil show for being bad parents.
I knew it. Damn that Dr Phil!!!!!
I came here for hidden star wars facts. Not the latest beef between the fucking directors.
In 1977, after already having seen it a few times, I took my parents to see it. Afterward, I asked them something like, "Wasn't that awesome??" My dad chimed up with, "Eh, it's about the same as Battlestar Galactica." My mom said, "That's what I was going to say." he's now 83 and I STILL give him crap about that. LOL
