    Rough math. The plane with the landing gear, cockpit, fittings and plumbing... About 11 grand . Guessing power by two 60lb turbines. Add around 9k for those and the electronics for them. Add another 3000 for the radio gear. And add the thiusands being charged for assembly. Gonna guess north of 25k...

    • @randomnickify
      @randomnickify 27 днів тому +1

      @@joehinson The weight is the main factor since big 4 meter glider made from styrofoam will not kill anyone while big fiber glass jet powered F-14 will :). In EU general laws weight limit for model aircraft is 150 kg. Models above 25 kg must be certified by the local "Faa" official and pilot have to have a RC license (local country laws might vary). I'm not sure about US, quick search shows two steps - 55 pounds as max for drones and 75 pounds max for Turbine RC. But the rules are actually changing a lot recently so its worth to check them before buying new kit.

    Hi! You are a dangerous person because 2 days ago I found your channel....
    My inner kid jumped out (at age 51) and I am now completely fascinated to the point of "this needs to go high up on my bucket list...
    I visited the Skymaster, Jeti, Xicoyturbines etc sites and started a "parts list". At first, seeing this F14 XXL at only 6800 euros (painted) my first thought was "oh, less than i thought, NICE". Then......this absolute noob realized that at least another 25k euros in additional parts are needed. (On top of what you obviously earn for the amazing builds).
    As a suggestion for noobs (if there are any on this channel): a full parts list incl prices would make it easier for us to decided which model to go for according to our personal budget.
    Then again, if there are (business related) reasons why you would not want to disclose that much info - fully understandable - but it might draw "new" RC fans to your channel since we donot have a clue where to start.
    PS: my wife caught me watching your videos for the past 2 days and went "oh crap....here we go again" (with a laugh I must add)

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  27 днів тому +3

      LOL. Thanks for your comment! Made me smile reading it! I'm immune to the danger I cause! I get blamed for a lot of new addicted fliers!
      Yes the kits are well priced. Then you add gear, small parts, cockpit, shipping etc. etc and Boom! Price is much more.
      Thanks so much for watching the channel!

    The model itself is fantastic, but the first thing I would do is repaint it.
    Someone who made these rivets on the surface probably never saw a real plane. It was probably painted en masse by Chinese women in cramped factories who were ordered to shade it.
    It looks ugly and has nothing to do with serious and pro aging.
    So you spend a fortune on a big model and get an unrealistic mass-market one.
