    With all due respect, there is one simple explanation for Pinkie Pies' improbable accelleration in the third example.
    She's Pinkie Pie.

    Now try to explain the physics of pinkie pie swinging into the lake and at the last possible minute slows down and just eases into the water without a single splash.

    That would have been awesome if I did a crowd surf, but the audience wasn't nearly as active as they could have been, whereas a rave would be more appropriate. Also, there was like a 6 foot gap between the audience and the stage. Sorry I didn't see you after the presentation, but I might come for the next EQLA in May.

    Pinkie pie can manipulate physics. Even if the physics in mlp are loose, they are still there. Yet pinkie pie breaks them still because she can

  • @shurley96
    @shurley96 12 років тому +1

    Awesome, pinkie pie is definitely a time lord XD By you calculations, she would have a final velocity of 7.68 m/s, but you would have to give time for her to decelerate, as she doesn't appear onscreen going at that speed.
    The original video was what converted me to being a brony by the way, when I was randomly looking up stuff on physics.

    There's a problem with the Pinkie Pie one. You cannot use constant acceleration kinematics here because of the circular trajectory, which requires an acceleration which changes in direction. The problem is basically of centripetal acceleration and whether the ground and her own hooves could generate/withstand the acceleration. If we assume that she has the ability to generate the 12 m/s speed necessary to traverse the arc in the given time almost instantaneously, we get 116.12 m/s^2 accel

  • @DoctahWAAwee
    @DoctahWAAwee 12 років тому

    Imagine how how many calculations it would take to explain why she is able to do this... its doable to prove the actions in the show physically wrong, but since they do do these things, imagine how much explaining you have to do to explain how the thing they do can be done by human logic...

    Sorry I didn't send this to you, I usually don't go on Facebook that much anymore. The presentation was at Equestria LA at the Anaheim Convention Center, and was just for fun. My major is technically mechanical engineering, but I'm hoping I can switch to computer science because I've sorta lost interest in engineering and classes aren't available. My brother was recording that (but I still see Oscar at Cal Poly). And I still like to take physics classes, and I just got a B in Elec. and Magnetism

    Of course, unless this is some super sticky snow whose coefficient of friction is much greater than 1, or their universe has g > 116.12 as opposed to our modest 9.8, this is not possible even assuming that her muscles can generate an impulse which shoots her off at 12 m/s in a short amount of time. On the other hand, given Pinkie's frequent fourth wall breaking, the more plausible explanation is that she has access to several normally inaccessible manifolds which identify seemingly distantpoints

    As explained in joshscorcher’s review of "Feeling Pinkie Keen" all ponies possess in inherent magic within them. Earth ponies possess a more physical magic as well as a connection to the earth. This usually manifests in enhanced strength, speed and the ability to aid in the growth of plant life. Pinkie sense is an early warning system very similar to Spiderman’s spider sense, by being connected to the mana of the earth it allows her to have a form of precognition. Furthermore, after reading the fanfiction “Why am I Pinkie Pie” I theorize that by being able to sense the vibrations of mana it allows her to sense through the veils of reality, in short can sense alternate universes. And finally, after seeing said fanfiction and paying the videogame “zone of the enders” I theorize that Pinkie (and to a lesser extent other ponies) uses this sense to create a vector trap. A vector trap compresses and folds space in on itself to create a pocket-dimension in which objects can be stored and retrieved. Anything that is placed into a vector trap is effectively reduced to zero volume by the reference of objects outside the vector trap. In a similar method I believe she can use this ability to alter the dimensions of her body thereby allowing her to defy certain laws of physics.
    Bonus…………. Pinkie apparently has a semi- photographic memory

    • @spacewarpphotography1667
      @spacewarpphotography1667 8 років тому

      I agree completely, and you have a good idea with your vector trap, although I believe it's commonly called "Hammerspace". I've long felt that Pinkie Pie is the strongest magic user among the non-royalty, and it's nice to know I'm not alone.

    • @Gungelion
      @Gungelion 8 років тому

      I was actually unaware of the terminology "Hammerspace" When I made this

    Clearly Apple Bloom hired Pinkie Pie to use her verisimulation powers to cause her to float into the air.

    • @LupineHero
      @LupineHero 10 років тому

      #2: Flying around in circles is how the Pegasi generate magical energy to create the tornado.
      #3: Again, Pinkie Pie used her verisimulation powers.
      I should probably explain that verisimulation is the ability to make one's imagination a reality- best explanation for Pinkie I've heard.

    For the first one, with Apple Bloom spinning the hula hoop on her tail:
    If you know even a bit about pony/horse anatomy, you would have noticed that horses don't actually have long tails, in fact, the "tail" is only very small, and the "long" appearance would just be hair... So Apple Bloom would be spinning it with hair.
    Just putting it out there, I know it's a cartoon and such ;)
    I love your work btw :D

    Hmm, none of my guesses u brought up. Might as well share them. Er, in regards to Pinkie Pie's "transporting".
    How it could be fixed:
    1. The animators could've delayed the reappearing to give time for Pinkie to walk the circle. Time constraints don't matter cause she and Applejack are still talking at this time.
    2. Pinkie's a cartoon character. Yeah I know they all are, but u should know that Pinkie is the most toon-ish with her antics, and the designers reserve most of the wacky jokes on her.

  • @beatledude64
    @beatledude64  12 років тому

    I actually didn't think of that, but even still, that would end up being an even less distance that she covered. And I'm glad my old video made you a brony!

  • @beatledude64
    @beatledude64  12 років тому

    I would say that if the prints that formed the circle represented ice skate marks instead of hoofprints. However, if she did skate instead of walk, it's possible there could have been an increase in acceleration.

  • @Bobbythewrecker
    @Bobbythewrecker 12 років тому

    Actually for pinkie have you thought of using the ice to speed up her speed? I mean the hard ice that is slippery and knowing pinkie to be an excellent skater( Despite her playing as someone else and that there may even be hard ice on a stage) could mean that she did a quick swerve around to the other side

  • @beatledude64

    Oh no, all the people that came up to me were saying how good it was. Usually haters seem prominent and common online, but I really think IRL they won't say anything, it's the anonymity effect.

    All these can be explained with one thing that always happens in MLP: MAGIC

  • @Cousin-Eddy
    @Cousin-Eddy 11 років тому

    There are four forces in physics, "strong force" deals with sub atomic particles, "weak force", same as latter, magnetism, strong and infinite range, and gravity, weak same range. Fifth theoretical force is magic itself.

  • @navanodsenwod

    couldn't the tornado one actually be plausible? with centripetal force would cause air to get shot out of the circle of pegasi, which causes a vacuum, which would suck the water up. I realize it wouldn't be EXACTLY the same as on the show, and it would be very difficult to accomplish, but I think it is plausible

    The measurements for a pony/horse is used to measure them from hoof to shoulder, not head to hoof. By making it so that the measurements for the two ponies is from head to hoof, you might have made some miscalculations in your math because AJ and Pinkie would actually be taller than what you presented in your findings.
    Overall though, it was fun to watch. I hope you can do another one in the future if it’s at all possible. Maybe you could give some theories about how a Changeling (AKA a bug pony) can turn into a normal pony (AKA a mammal) without saying magic. That would be something to hear.

    • @Blitzwaffen
      @Blitzwaffen 9 років тому

      +Thestral Pony Actually his math won't be wrong. While it is true he put the measurement from head to hoof, the numbers he recovered was no doubt measured in the standard hoof to shoulder. The only real variation is the fact he was unaware of the measurement distinction.

    Actually the shape of a barrel ring, being asymmetrical, might actually work. I'm actually more concerned with how she is countering the torque from spinning such a mass that fast; perhaps she is waving the middle part of her tail in the opposite direction and due to the wagonwheel effect that isn't noticeable in that shot....
