The Benjolin is a beautiful little machine, but the space beyond it of Benjolin-esque patch-machines with their own affordances and personalities is even better. Welcome to the Benjo-sphere!
@@kilo_llama happy to be journeying into Benjo-land! I’m stoked on building this little stand alone machine in a tiny pod. I’m thinking I want to get a different oscillator that can go down to LFO speeds and maybe a better filter (I’ve here been in love with the paradox really.) I think my dream setup would be to replace the oscillators with a Sport Modulator 2 which would give me a ton more patch programmability and have the built in coupler to serve as the compare out. Not sure about the filter though.
@bleepinnbloopin1175 I've tried the Sport Mod 2 as the oscillators for a Benjolin-type patch, and I would caution you that they max out somewhere around 1.5-2kHz, similar to the Rampage or many other function generators. This is great for a lot of applications, but I personally found that ceiling a bit limiting compared to my experience with a Benjolin.
@kilo_llama ah, that is great info! I might need to rethink that then. It may not be too much of a problem because the Amnis doesn’t handle super high clock rates well (it will just freeze when the clock rate is too high, which is why I added clock division to the second oscillator in my patch). But lacking the high frequency for the data input seems like a pretty hard limit.
It has been a lot of fun so far! Since this video I got in touch with Ritual Electronics and got some info about how to mod it to accept faster clock rates. I've done the mod and it has opened up a ton of new sonic territory. I'll probably do a new video soon to show that off.

This seems like a fun little noise machine.😮
